Mystique Day Spa

My husband surprised me with an hour massage this past weekend. I left very disappointed. The masseuse did not massage my palms (hands), head, scalp, barely touched my feet. She did however take the time to put hot towels on my feet, which was nice. I expected a higher level of service. She even sat on the massage table next to me leaning on my leg when I was turned over. I was very uncomfortable when she did that. This place is over-rated. I never in my life skipped a tip but I felt obligated in this instance. I am going back to Hair Connection in Dearborn Hts for my next massage.

I was in desperate need for relaxation so I asked for a gift cert for a facial and massage for Christmas. My parents went ahead and got a gift cert for Mystique (my mom gets massages there). I was very disappointed with my facial. It felt like a dental appointment. I take good care of myself physically but honestly, my skin is NOT the first thing I think of daily. I got lectured on how I need to drink more water, use more moisturizer, exfoliate more often, and have this specialty eye treatment done to lessen my dark circles and tighten my collagen. I am 24 years old. I do NOT need to work on my eyes at this stage of the game! They're fine! I've never had that comment before. The esthetician was very pushy and snotty and frankly, I was more frustrated than relaxed for the majority of my facial. The facial itself was fine but her attitude and pushiness was less than desirable. I could've spent $65 in many better ways. I'm hopeful that my massage will go better!

On a whim, I decided to pamper myself and get a manicure, pedicure and trim. Mystique happened to be the first place I drove by and I took it as a good sign that they have a "walk-ins welcome" sign. However, I was told quite rudely by the girl at the front desk that they weren't taking walk-ins. I thought maybe they had forgotten to take down the sign since they were pretty busy and as I went to mention it, she abruptly cut me off and left me standing at the desk with my mouth hanging open. She didn't even bother asking if I wanted to book an appointment for another time. I was appalled at being treated this way so I left in search of another day spa. A couple of weeks later, I was chatting with a friend and she mentioned the same thing happened to her so it was definitely not a one-time occurrence.

I thought I would treat myselft for a pedicure and haircut. I had to wait 30 minutes for my pedicure appointment- the woman did not say one word to me the whole time, not even an apology. She then made me late for the haircut, which I was not impressed with at all.

OK, they have a sign in their window that says walk ins welcome, so I walked in. The parking lot was full, so I did figure I would have to wait a while to get my hair done, but that was OK. I walked up to the front desk, and asked if I could get in that day for my hair, and she rudely said that they never can accomidate walk ins, and everyone had to make an appointment. I asked about the sign in the window, and she rudely explained that was not for me! I would NOT recommend this salon, simply on her rudeness, snobby attitude, and service!
