The Majestic has been one of our favorite places to eat in Detroit for quite a few years now and never disappoints us. I couldn't help thinking that the previous review (one star) must either be very demanding and unreasonable customers

My party of 7 had theatre tickets at the Fisher at 8;00. We arrived at 6pm figuring 2 hours was ample time to eat & make it to the theatre on time. The last of our party arrived at 6:05, The restaurant was not full, but it seemed that

We've eaten at the Majestic a few times and the food has always been *excellent*; it's what I'd call nouvelle cuisine and really a treat. Prices are moderate, although they can be on the high end of that scale. The service is usually friendly, although one time it was totally negligent - but after I later phoned one of the owners to complain (when even the *manager* didn't seem to care), I was given a gift certificate and our server the next time was *superb*. The negatives are the cigarette smoke, the noise level and the parking problem (there's only on-street parking and we often have to walk a few blocks, which always makes us subject to aggressive panhandlers).

This is almost a landmark itself and pretty much looks like one. The lanes are well maintained, but the building infrastructure could sure use a makeover. The bar and kitchen server decent alley fare. If you are in the area and have an urge to bowl, I recommend you try them out.

PROS: good lanes, average food
CONS: building looks old and worn

The Garden Bowl is located directly in the city of Detroit which makes this an extra plus for me. They have different bowling theme nights. This is an excellent way to wind down after work. It is located in the Medical Center area and not far from Wayne State University. It also makes an excellent "Cheap Family Outing".

PROS: Parking behind the Garden Bowl
CONS:
