Some of the most caring animal people I have ever met. When your pet is sick it can get really expensive. This vet actually will try to help you help your pet regardless of your income! They gave me a list of options and fully explained them to me and why those tests were important. Needless to say my dog is feeling great now and I would definitely recommend these vets and the staff for others. They really want to help versus other vets that just want your money

DO NOT take your pet here! We took our puppy to Dr. Sordel here and she diagnosed her with giardia. This parasite should take 1-2 weeks to treat. She gave us 3 medications to treat the parasite and as soon as the medication ran out, our pup was sick again. After doing some research online, I found that Dr. Sordel was only giving us 1 medication that I read about - Metronidazole. This medication is supposed to be most effective when combined with Panacur (which she did not prescribe us). We took our pup back to the vet when she was sick a second time, Dr. Sordel gave us 3 medications again and 1 was Panacur, but not in combination with the Metronidazole. After the medication ran out again, our puppy was still sick with giardia. I read that giardia is something that pups should have for a week or two at the most. We went back to the vet and she gave us more medication... again not the combination of drugs I'd read was most effective. After the third time we ran out of medication and our pup was still sick, we went back and Dr. Sordel told us to change our 3 month old pup's diet to adult food. We were left wondering why she'd throw another variable into the mix. It was like she was guessing and throwing darts at a wall. She told us we could clean toys, beds, blankets, etc/ "if we wanted to" unlike what I researched online - EVERYTHING needs to be cleaned so that the pup doesn't reinfect itself. We went back another time after our pup was still sick and then the time after that we saw Dr. P. Mind you, all of these trips were abour $125 each. Dr. P told us to clean EVERYTHING and questioned why we weren't treating our pup with a combination of Metroidazole and Panacur and why we'd switched our pup's diet. I told her we were following Dr. Sordel's orders. After 2 more visits and 2 negative fecal tests ($30 each) from the vet, they sent a fecal sample out to the lab ($75) only to find out they were WRONG and our pup still have giardia 2 months later. Dr. Sordel called my husband and recommended they send another fecal sample out in a few days at another $75 and run a panel of tests. We've decided it's time to switch vets. This place doesn't seem to know what they're doing and we can't keep bleeding money as they continue guessing. After we decided to switch a friend told me that one of her friend's dog had to be flown to NY after getting kidney failure as a direct result of Wixom Family Pet Practice prescribing too much of a steroid to treat a simple infection. Don't subject your pet to this.

My dog had a seizure... I was scared he was going to die. I came in and was told to hold on a minute, that someone would be right with me. After 10 minutes of waiting, some guy came in and they serviced him while I waiting, scared about my dog. When another man came in and was helped, I left.

Please, These people are scumbags. If you are a GOOD person, then please teach these bad people a lesson and go somewhere else... Please!

We used to live in Walled Lake.We took our dog to the Wixom Clinic after a VERY expensive visit to Vet Select. The doctor is great and we get fantastic care for our dog. The aids are very friendly and gentle, even on our dogs most trying day. The price are reasonable. Our bills run at least half of the other clinic. Now that we are in Hazel Park, we still make the drive.

I took my dog here for several years as she had many medical issues. The first time I took my dog here, the doctor not only asked me for her complete records(which I had with me), BUT, he wanted to know what had worked well for her in the past and what, if anything, was a problem for my dog! He was very good with my dog. When she was "on her last leg", I was told to leave a message for the doctor on their voice mail, and he would return my calls. God Bless him, he even called me when the clinic was closed. My dog took a turn for the worse on a Monday, and all I had to do was leave a message. The doctor returned my call & had me bring her in on his day off. We had decided we would have to put her down, but low and behold, she passed away in the car on the way to the Wixom Veterinary Clinic! The doctor was happy he didn't have to put her down and so were we. All of the people that work here are very kind and courteous, and they really do love their patients!

i have had many pets and lived in many cities around detroit but i have never found a vet that i really liked until i came to wixom. the first time i went in was to get my cats updated on their shots and i was suprised at how much cheaper their prices were that my last vet clinic. they dont charge for the office visit if you have shots done like the other places did and the most expensive shot my cat recieved was only $20. I also found a kitten at mu friends farm and brought it in the have its kitten shots and test done and they were honest in telling me what she really needed and what she didnt. and when i found a perm. home for her thay gave me the cheapest quote on a spay surgery. it was under $100 at the time. i still take my cats there when i need to and they have walk-in appointments available too.
