Detroit gets alot of negative publicity in the press. A lot of it is unfortunately true, however one thing that doesn't get out is the fact that it's home to some of the most unique and flat out good tasting food in the nation. Without a doubt, Tom's Coney Island leads the pack.

Right off the bat, you know the place is unique. It sits in the frame of an old A&W Drive-up restaurant, one that used to employ car hops complete with rollerskates. All that's gone now, but what's left is some truly good American Cuisine. Burgers, Fish and Chips, and of course Coney's are the typical fair, and you'd probably die of heart-failure if you ate this stuff all the time, but eating it as a treat is pure bliss. Do yourself a favor. If you're ever in the neighborhood (unfortunately one thats pretty rundown), grab a bite at Tom's.

PROS: Wonderful Food, good prices.
CONS: Located in a rundown section of the city.
