My wife got me the 12 lap stock car school for my 43rd birthday and it's just about the greatest thing I have ever done. The people there were great, from the girls at check in to the instructors on pit road. Everyone was friendly and truly seemed to enjoy being part of my experience. First was the classroom education. It was very professional and informative. There was so much to learn it was exciting but I wondered if I could remember everything. We then went out and drove the track in street cars to get familiar with the racing line. Just driving the street cars around the track was exciting. After that we went to our stock cars and our instructor, Bud,showed us the safety equipment in the car and how to get in and out. I was so nervous and excited I was glad I wasn't the first one to go in my group. When I saw how excited and pumped up the guys who went before me were after driving I was ready to go when it was my turn. After getting strapped in I was both nervous and excited. Bud (my instructor) gave me a big thumbs up and flipped the start switch, wow, what a feeling. I headed down pit road and onto the track. I couldn't believe I was driving a real stock car! After a few laps I began to get comfortable and was able to squeeze the gas peddle a little more. Pulling down onto pit road after my 12 lap school I felt like the guys who I had seen go before me. I was so jacked up I could hardly control myself. I got out of my car and Bud gave me a big high five. I was so excited I gave him a big bear hug and lifted him right of the ground. If you could see how big he is you would know my adrenalin was pumping. My wife and I along with my son hung around watching the other students. Everything was so cool I didn't want to leave. Thanks to all of the people that helped make my day so great. Especially Bud, he was great how he made me feel at ease before getting in my stock car. Well, as at ease as I could be that is. I will go back and do it again. My 44th birthday is just around the corner!
