Horrible customer service from most, including the manager! There is one girl who works there that is so nice that I almost, I emphasize almost, feel bad for writing this review. She is the only exception I've seen so far to what I'm about

I don't have anything nice to say about this place. We walked in and the ladies behind the counter asked us what we were looking for and pointed us in the direction of the bridesmaid dresses and said pick out what you like. They then asked us what style we were looking for. We didn't have any particular style picked out. Asked us the colors and when the wedding date was told us that it might be a problem with how close the wedding date was with the colors. So then she proceeds to show us dresses that she could get in in the time frame that we had and says the colors she can get them in totally disregarding the colors of the wedding when we asked her what about our colors she then says in a snotty attitude that's not an option. She could have started out with that instead of wasting our time. And they are WAY over priced for their horrible selection of bridesmaid dresses. We went around the corner to another little store where the service was great and we could get our dresses in the time frame we had and in the right colors and great price and even with a 20% discount on each dress. Also the parking was horrible.

I was extremely upset when I spoke with an employee at the Grand Rapids Bridal Gallery over the phone and she was extremely rude to me.

All I wanted was to come try on a dress and she very rudely assumed that I was going to come try it on then go buy it online and wouldn't tell me the size of the sample dress. My friend (the bride) has not decided whether we are even getting the dress or not so when I told her that I didn't know for sure if I was going to buy it the woman became even more rude and without explanation told me to go to another store and HUNG UP on me!

I called back and spoke with another person who at least sounded more pleasant and actually took the time to explain that they don't like to give out sizes over the phone because people use them for their samples and then go buy it online.

After that I didn't know what to say because she still wouldn't tell me the size and I'm not going to drive all the way out there to NOT fit in the dress! How am I supposed to know if I'm going to buy it BEFORE I try it on? and I would love an explanation as to why this person thought she could just ASSUME that I'm not going to buy the dress there.

I am now going to another place because I don't want to be treated like a criminal for trying to SHOP. It was extremely annoying that she would make such assumptions and I know for a fact that this kind of attitude will drive away business. I work with customers all the time and that is NOT good customer service at all.

From most of these other comments, it looks like the Bridal Gallery needs a serious attitude check. It's not good business to be patronizing and rude to people who are considering spending money there.

We went to Bridal Gallery on a Saturday looking for bridesmaid dresses and were not impressed at all. They were very busy (which is expected) but there were four employees standing behind the counter doing nothing.
We were told to go pick out the dresses that we liked and someone would help us when they were available (remember the four employees??) The first thing we noticed was that all of the dresses were approximately $30 more than the exact same dress at other stores. Then we noticed their lack of selection, however there was a bride there being allowed to take over 20 dresses at one time, so that probably did not help with lack of selection. We waited for quite some time and then decided that we would be better off going to another store, so we went a took our names off of the list. The saleswoman then said that if we called back we could make an appointment for another Saturday because we had an hours drive in.
A few weeks later we called to make that appointment and were very rudely told that they do not do Saturday appointments. That is fine, many places don't, but we should not have been told that we could and she definitely could have been polite about it. We were told that we could schedule an appointment for during the week, however the bride works until 5:00 everyday so that wouldn't work at all.
All in all Bridal Gallery wasted our time and lost 10 sales. I will also recommend to anyone getting married that they don't even try Bridal Gallery. Also a suggestion, if you aren't going to have Saturday appointments perhaps hire so more employees who will actually do their jobs.

Our visit to Bridal Gallery today was... very disappointing. Service was terrible. Preferential treatment was given to a select few. Sales clerks were lazy. They give you hooks to tag the dresses on the racks that you want to try on and after my daughter and her maid of honor went thru and made their picks, snippy little sales clerk (blonde ditz) unclipped her selections and brought her 5 dresses to the dressing room. She was then abandoned and when we asked for assistance was told that she would have to leave the dressing room and let someone else have a turn while the girl/mother next to us who arrived at the same time were catered to with dress after dress (even dresses that my daughter had selected). It was a Saturday afternoon. I went to the snippy clerk who had started to help us, she was behind the counter in the front counting tickets sales for the day and acted as if I was being a nuisance! We walked out. My daughter went back into the store to speak to the manager... She looked at her and said, ""You've tried on 40 dresses haven't you?"" Far from 40. After my daughter explained what happened, the woman apologized and begged her to return and said she would personally assist. My advice to you, store owner, hire some new help! Your service stinks. We will return to Becker's. They know the meaning of SERVICE. By the way, she tried on not more than 5 dresses and if she wanted to try every damn dress on display, why not! Oh, another thing... Your parking stinks!

Cons: Service

Poor customer service, poor quality product, rude management & no ability to resolve problems. Would not recommend it. Full of excuses but without answers. If everything with your dress goes good, you are extremly lucky if you bought it from here.

They were horrible! I was given 5 ship dates before I got my dress! Got the dress 4 weeks prior to my wedding and it had issues, should have been sent back to the manufacturer, however being so close to the wedding and the fact that it took 6 months to get it in, in the first place we didn't have time to do that. The owner, and seamstress we very rude. The owner told me she had been in business for 25 years and didn't need my business, after I had asked her to help resolve the issue. She also tried to tell me what I had done, which was incorrect, and wouldn't listen to me when I tried to explain. I am not a bridezilla, actually wasn't even upset until the owner Judy hung up on me! The customer service there is ridiculous! My story ends with me taking my not so perfect dress from the store and leaving issues unresolved. I have however so happy to be done with that place. Brides Beware!

Ok Judy you asked for this. First of all I ordered the dress in Oct. you did not have my dress in the store until march.... Do the math.
2nd as almost all the other reviews on this site you will see that you clearly lack customer service. You hung up on me when I called.... where is the customer service in that? Don't try to say you didn't, because I am here to tell you , you did. We can play the he said she said all you want. This is my side of the story. You being the owner of the store. Wow!
The alterations that you are accusing me of not paying for, well thanks to your seamstress my dress's hem is over 1 inch in deffernce because your seamstress did not take any measurements and luckily for me your store or your seamstress ironed in a hem, and because of that agian I am left with little options. My dress is a mess- THANKS!
You said my dress was just as the sample was. Well please explain why one of the seams in on the side and the other is 1/2 way around my back. It should have been shipped back to the manufacturer, the seamstress that has my dress now has said she has never in her 25 years once heard a good thing about your store. Go figure. I tried to call the manufacturer however they told me that I would have to go through you in order to get the issue resolved. In honesty, the seamstress I am working with now says she will do her best and it is worth it to me, to not have a perfect dress, just so I can be completely done dealing with you and your business. Funny how you felt the need to rate yourself as a 5 star, however majority on this site rates you poorly. Judy take some constructive criticism work on your customer service skills.
My favorite part is how you, Judy are trying to potray that you had anything to do with the whole situation. You didn't, the only envolvement you had was when I called to confirm that a manager was going to be in the store when I arrived that night since she had not returned my phone calls. Then you got on the phone and told me that there was no reason for your manager to call me back. I'm sorry but if a customer calls and asks to talk to a manager, there is usually a reason for the call. Not returning the call unprofessional. You then tried to tell me about a hem, not the reason I was calling at all, then you asked about a neckline issue. My dress does not even have a neck line thus furthing my belief that you really had no idea of what was going on. When I asked you agian to listen to me you said well we will see you at 615 and hung up. So that is my side of the story Judy. I would love to hear your rebuttle. The best part is I can publish this and anyone is welcome to read it. I hope they do!
Your rebuttle admitted that the dress was not on time, and that you knew your store was in a bad place as you offered me a $50. in store credit. However you forgot to mention that your $50. in store credit wouldn't cover any alterations, or the too small of bra that was going for $55 that your store was trying to sell me.
I love that you are continuing this on. I just want future brides to be aware that this is the service they can expect from you. They can from my reading of other reviews expect that their dress wont be on time, that the seamstress is very bad at her job and when all else fails you will claim that the bride gained weight. I love that part of it!
Oh and the part where I left your store yelling. Really Judy, come on, not even close! As I was leaving I did say loudly that this was the worst customer service I had ever experienced. I admit that, however there was no "yelling". Your stories Judy humor me. Thanks for the laugh.
Agian brides beware, this is not the kind of crap service I would have choosen had I been smart and read reviews before hand. Good luck Judy with your store and your customer service. and Congrats to any bride reading this, this is supose to be fun! Not stress filled!

I got engaged in Sept but I started looking for my dress back in end of July/August. It didn't matter that I wasn't engaged yet for the ladies to let me look at the dresses. I didn't need an appointment I just went in and got service right away. The staff was amazing! They were friendly and courteous! I probably tried on 20 or so dresses and had it narrowed down to 2. Not only did I get my wedding dress there, I got all of my bridesmaid dresses there. They had a great selection to pick from and me and my girls looked awesome for the wedding. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Great Store! Great Selection! Great People working there!! I couldn't have been more pleased with this store! you simply MUST check this store out! One of the ladies who were helping me picked out a dress that I didn't pick out at first and it was the best one! I would say that this was better than any other place I shopped in in GR!

Horrible Nightmare Experience! Beware! I am not even the bride, I am the matron of honor. I was skeptical of Bridal Gallery from the beginning since it looks like such a dump, both inside and out and in this case first impressions hold true. My best friend whom is the bride went to Bridal Gallery because of the prices. I guess you get what you pay for. The staff was extremely rude and didn't know what they were talking about. They measured the bride incorrectly and ordered her a dress a size too small. When the bride argued with them that she has never worn that size they said that it would fit and went ahead and ordered it for her anyway. When the dress came in and we went to try it on we couldn't even get it buttoned, it was so tight. The salesgirl was very annoyed and came in the dressing room and pulled the dress together at the back as tight as she could and then barely fastened the button. Then she said, "See I told you it would fit". The bride then decided to have alterations done by a seamstress that the Gallery recommended. After several fittings where this seamstress actually deconstructed the dress and put it back together it still didn't fit correctly. We decided to go back to Bridal Gallery and ask them for some help or to actually purchase the sample since that was the correct size or buy another dress off the rack-it was then 2 weeks away from the wedding. My mother (who is mother of the groom) went along and when she tried to explain what was happening with the dress the seamstress/staff at the store told her to "shut up and get out of the dressing room". Of course this was extremely shocking and unbelievable and my mom was in tears. The seamstress then took the dress to her house to try to fix all the damage and make it fit. Meanwhile the store owner called my mom and berated her and told her she was a "bully". I have NEVER EVER been to a business that operates in this way. I wouln't even send my worst enemy to this store. They also ordered the wrong sizes for every single bridesmaid in the wedding as well which cost us all extra money for alterations. Horrible experience, horrible staff, horrible alterations.

Great selection, great customer service, good prices. I loved The Bridal Gallery but I would recommend finding your own person to do alterations. The alteration lady I worked with was a little pushy. I loved everything else about The Bridal Gallery!! The first time I went in ther was a Saturday and it was very busy. I decided to just look around and I went back on a week night because they were open later than all the other bridal shops. I found my dress there and ordered it right away. My only problem there was the older alteration lady was a little rude. I highly recommend shopping at The Bridal Gallery.

I want to let you know that I have ordered my wedding dress and all of my bridesmaid dresses at Bridal Gallery. I had so much fun with the staff, they are honest and friendly! They helped me pick out my dress and showed me many styles of bridesmaid dresses that complemented it! There are so many dresses to pick from.

I ended up going to Bridal Gallery so many times with family and bridesmaids, that I was afraid they would get sick of me, but they were great to work with each time. Some nights were busy, but they got me in a room as soon as they could. They still gave me as much one on one attention as they could...I understood!

I loved everything that they did for me and my friends! I would definitley recommend giving Bridal Gallery a chance!

A little lengthy... sorry!
One of my BM??s is very tall and thin. When she went in to get measured for her dress, the girl didn??t take her height into consideration and ordered a dress that was too small and 3? too short! My BM even suggested to the girl that they order a larger size for the extra length. The girl ordered the smaller one anyway. When we received the dresses I called the BG and they claim they are ??not responsible? for people??s height. I guess that means you can??t have tall Bridesmaids. The real nightmare began when I went in for my alterations. Per their suggestion, I called and set up and appointment with their ??recommended? seamstress 2 months prior to my wedding. At our first meeting, my mother and I clearly explained that we needed a bustle on the dress and a little tuck in the front where it was gapping (strapless dress). The seamstress whipped out her blue gel pen and put two large marks underneath my arms, but close to the front of the dress where she would ??tuck it under.? When I gasped at the pen marks, she assured me that it would be covered up when she did the alterations. I came back for my next fitting a few weeks later and the dress was taken in incorrectly and wouldn??t zip up. I re-explained to the seamstress what I wanted done and left. Not so wonderful after an hour drive for both me and my mom (separately!). I came in for what was supposed to be my final fitting the Wed. two weeks before my wedding. I put the dress on and it wouldn??t zip up. It was so tight I couldn??t breathe! The seamstress examined the dress and realized that she had taken it in wrong and promised she would fix it before the next week. We left feeling a little unsure about whether it would be done correctly. My mom decided to call the owner of the shop and see if she had any idea why this was happening. The owner was defensive and referred to me as a ??bridezilla.? Interesting way to refer to your customers! The seamstress then called us and was upset that we had called the owner to ??tell? on her. We set up an appointment with her at her house that Saturday (almost 2-1/2 more hours of driving!) and agreed to meet with her again to see if we were just not communicating clearly. The appointment was quick and I didn??t really get the feeling she STILL knew what the problem was. I was scheduled to pick up my gown from the BG on the Wed. before my wedding. I went in with my MIL and tried the dress on. It was not pressed, there were new stains on it and worst of all? it didn??t fit!!! I was then told that nothing could be done to fix the dress and it would be ??fine? the way it originally was. That info would have been good to know 4 fittings before!!! I was told I could come back (6th time!!!) to the store and pick up my dress the next day. The next day I had my dad (a very calm person!) call the store and speak with the owner about our frustrations with the situation. She was unwilling to accept any responsibility for her seamstress or for the trouble we had been caused. Instead, she told my dad that it was my fault the alterations were not done because I had ??changed? and put on ??water weight.? Interesting way to deal with customers! We picked up the dress and I put the whole experience behind me and enjoyed my wedding day. It ended up that the bustle she had done was crooked and not done correctly so my dress hung awkwardly. There are also still blue gel pen marks on my dress as well as other little stains from their handling of my dress. It was never pressed flat as they promised time and time again. I would never recommend anyone give them their business. I was able to keep a healthy perspective on the situation, but it added a lot of stress to an already stressful and busy time. Once they had my money, they could care less about me as a customer. I would expect more from someone in this industry and any industry for that matter. I have been quick to praise those companies that I felt were incredibly helpful during my planning process, but I hope that anyone who reads this would avoid that place so they don??t have to go through the same experience as I did.

I ordered my bridal gown from this store and called 2 months before my wedding to set up an appointment to have some minor alterations done to the chest area of my strapless dress and a bustle put on for the reception. I had an appointment set with Dottie approx. 2 months before my wedding. We discussed the issues and she marked my dress with ball point pen where it needed to be taken in. When I returned for my next 5 fittings, the dress was never taken in per our first meeting and I was forced to re-explain it to her every time. She never took notes and couldn't remember from one fitting to the next (sometimes 2 days in between) what needed to be done. I was very polite, but became worried when again, 3 days before my wedding, she had incorrectly taken in my dress. I was told at that time that ""nothing could be done"" and it looked ""fine the way it was."" The next day, I had my dad call the owner to make sure that everything was going to be taken care of of my 6th fitting, 2 days before my wedding. The owner was incredibly rude to my dad (who is a very calm person!) and accused me of gaining ""water weight"" and that was the reason the dress did not fit correctly. My dress did not fit, it had blue pen stains on it, it wasn't steamed flat and the bustle was done incorrectly. The customer service was astonishingly horrible and I can't believe they have stayed in business treating people they way that they do. I am the first to praise those people who greatly helped me out and had excellent customer service, but I just wish I could spare anyone from receiving service like this from any business. I would NOT recommend this business to anyone.

Cons: Horrible customer service

.

I went in there by myself to look at some bridal gowns while I had some time to spare. Their customer service was awful. I had to wait 5 minutes for the lady to get off the phone for a personal call (I know this because she ended it with I'll see you after work), and then she told me to go find a couple of dresses. I did, but none of them were in my size. I asked them if I could try on these same dresses around my size (they were all extremely too small) and they said they didn't have any that would fit me. I consider myself an average size, so I took it that i was too overweight to have any of their dresses fit me. The dressing rooms were cramped, and they wouldn't let me stand on the pedastal or a box to see everything (I'm short and there were couches in front of the mirrors so I couldn't see the bottom of the dress). Everytime I came out, all of the service people were standing around gabbing and I had to say excuse me more than once to get their attention. Overall, I think their selection was awful, their customer service was awful, and I would never go back there again.

Both my sister and I are getting married very soon. When we both went to try on gown here, the staff was mildly friendly and we did have to wait a LONG time before even being helped on our first visit. Neither one of us ended up buying our gowns here, but they do have a lot to try on in various price ranges. My sister seleted her BM dress from here - it is a Mori Lee, and is very reasonably priced at BG, the same dress was $50-$75 more at other salons. When we went to be measured, the worker did not have any sence of patience or good customer service. My sister came from Newaygo and we got there 15 minutes before the store closed and the lady was very rude about that saying we should have planned better. Seems like they are not eager to keep business. Darn their low prices! LOL. When I went in for my jewlery, I had to wait literally 30 minutes to even check out. If there is someone in there trying on gowns, forget it, you will not be helped.

PROS: LOW prices, good selection, not pushy
CONS: Poor customer service, lack of respect for clients

I took off a star for the small dressing rooms (which aren't TOO bad, but compared to other salons, they are pretty small). Yes, it isn't the most attractive building, but then again most bridal salons aren't. One other negative thing about the Bridal Gallery is that they don't allow you to take pictures in each dress, so you have to kind of bootleg them (as in discreetly take non-flash photos in the small dressing rooms... hey, it works for me). However, I absolutely LOVE the selection & variety of dresses. There is a price range & dress style for every bride at this shop. I seriously have like 20 dresses on my card there because I love them all so much. I need to bring my grandma & my MOH, along with my mom, to help me decide which one is "the one"! I had no problem freely looking around at any dress & taking it back to the dressing room... they don't breathe down your neck or anything while you try on. Also, no appointment is required. After being at the Bridal Gallery twice now, I know that chances are I will be getting my dress there. I highly recommend!

PROS: variety, price range, atmosphere, no appointment required
CONS: dressing room, no photos

I've been doing business with this company for the past 9 months and have had nothing but problems. I brought in 5 girls who bought their dresses AND shoes there and when problems arose with 2 of the dresses, it would've been all 5 had my seamstress not been with me for 3 of them, they were adamant to not fix their mistake. One of my girls' dresses was 2 sizes too small. No she wasn't pregnant and no she didn't gain ANY weight. The girls who measure do NOT know how as her measurements were 1-2" off after 6 weeks. My bridesmaid told me that when she was fitted, the tape was pulled tight, and when the seamstress measured she kept it looser, obviously you need to breathe, and the measurements were off. Also, I ordered another dress SUPPOSEDLY a full size too big in case a bridesmaid were pregnant. She's not, and the dress fits her perfectly. You may think, "oh wonderful!" Not so much. If she were 3 months pregnant HER dress would've been too small. When I called with this complaint the first time, I was told to bring the girl and the dress in and the seamstress would look at it. Yeah, that's nice I have my own seamstress. I went in anyways and was told it would cost us about $60. I refused to pay for a mistake of the business. When I called the second time, because the dress lacked 3.5" of material as opposed to the 1.5" that THEIR seamstress claimed it was missing, the MANAGER became very defensive and continued to blame the bridesmaid for gaining imaginary weight. She only agreed to pay for the alterations after my seamstress spoke to her on the phone. I went in YET AGAIN to have their seamstress look at it, and was told it would take a week and a half to fix. It has now been almost 3 weeks and we have yet to receive word that the dress is finished. My advice to anyone who dares use this place, is to find somewhere else. Your wedding is a happy time and you shouldn't have to deal with any more stress than needed.

I have loved the time I have spent at Bridal Gallery! I have been there 3 times now, and I know that I am going to be getting my brides maid dresses there. There is also a good chance that I will get my wedding gown there also! I have been treated very well by the staff! At first I was hesitant to ask for anything, but then I really warmed up to the staff. When I walked in, they greeted me right away and proceeded to explain how the store was set up. Give them a try!!!

P.S. To the other reviewer, I could find the designer of all the gowns I tried on, or just ask and they'll tell you.

I went here looking for a wedding dress. I tried on several. They do not let you try on anything yourself, which I usually don't have a problem with, but the room is like 3x3 and there is no room for 2 people! They also refuse to tell you the designer of any dress until you buy it! That is ridiculous, some designers are worth a lot more. I don't want to pay a lot for a designer that I have heard negative things about quality, so I think not telling the designer is awful and deceiving. I also think that the employees were not very helpful, I always felt like I was interrupting and bothering them with my questions. I would never send a friend of mine there.

My wife was pleasantly surprised with Bridal Gallery. She went in looking for Bridesmaid dresses and was able to spend alot of time trying on dresses without being hasseled. The employees were friendly, the store was neat and orderly. They had a great selection of different styles of dresses. Parking is at a premium and you have to park behind the store.

This is a good place to find a wedding dress dispite the fact that the store looks really dumpy from the outside and is not that nice inside either. Their selection and friendly service helps to make up for the lack of the store appearance. The dressing rooms are small and have only a curtain to change behind.

PROS: Good Selection of Dresses, Friendly staff, good service, good prices
CONS: Bad store appearance and location

I purchased my bridal gown and ordered my 3 bridesmaids dresses here. My gown was perfect. I bought off the rack on layaway. The bridesmaid dresses were ordered from Mori Lee and they came in on time and as ordered. Store is open convenient hours, centrally located to all areas of Greater Grand Rapids, and the best part is that they have all sizes in stock to try on, so if you're not a perfect 4 they have tons of styles in every size to try on.

PROS: Plus Size Gowns in stock

My sister bought her wedding dress from Bridal Gallery for her April 2005 wedding. She had a great experience with this store.

However, I went there when shopping for my wedding dress in October 2005 and wasn't quite so pleased. The lady at the counter was NOT friendly when we walked into the store. She explained how the dresses were set up and in the process insulted one of my BM in terms of what size dress she would need. They require one of their employees to help you try on the dress which made me very uncomfortable. They finally agreed that my MOH could help me into my dress. The employee assigned me continued to bring in dresses for me that were totally against anything I'd ever wear.

The only positive to this store is they do have a decent selection of designer gowns. Also, like I mentioned before, my sister went with them and had very positive results. Maybe it's hit or miss there.

I had to go here to get fitted for a dress for a friends wedding and was not treated with the best service. I had heard others talk about this but thought may be it was an overexaggeration. It wasn't. The women behind the counter didn't seem to eager to help. If you need a dress I wouldn't recommend this place, there are others out there that will treat you better.

This bridal shop has a lot to choose from, but there they lack in teh customer service department. They are not very friendly to work with. The prices are pretty comparable, so you may want to look around if you want better customer service. It's not the greatest looking inside either, and i would definetly not recommend to friends.
