I'm disappionted to see negative feedbacks on here. I've never had an issue and quite frankly, they have the absolute BEST tasting Chicken Schwarma I've ever had anywhere. I miss La Shish, but Cedar Garden has been the closest I've found

I found the listing online, and even though almost every review said the waitstaff was rude, I was just ordering a carryout and I have worked in the restaurant industry for 15 years, so I am usually very tolerant of my fellow service industry professionals.
I ordered the combination platter for my family of four, and while I found it a bit more expensive than other places I have tried, I am usually satisfied with the portion size....not the case here...I paid a dollar extra to change the salad to a fattoush, which turned out to be six pieces of tomato on top of lettuce ( I have never had lettuce in my fattoush before????)...Also, I had to pay a dollar twenty-five for the picked radishes and pickles that have always come with the combo platter at every other Lebanese restaurant I have ever been to!!!
Moving on....While I was pleased that the person on the phone was rather pleasant, as well as reassuring when she promised there would be no nuts in the entire order ( my son has both a peanut and tree nut allergy), when I walked in to the empty restaurant, save the table of four employees, the employees turned to look, then proceeded to resume, and finish, their conversation (which lasted about what seemed to be two minutes). The food was ready at the time I had ordered it to be picked up, so that was nice.

Getting home, the food had good flavor, but there were only three pitas to go with the entire combo, and I probably should have asked for extra (at goodness knows what extra cost).

While the combo had a little bit of each item that was described on the menu, the container was mostly filled up with rice THAT HAD ALMONDS IN IT!!! We don't eat out much because of my son's allergy (wonder why i don't trust restaurants), and thankfully I thoroughly inspected the food before I let him eat it. I suppose it kind of worked out, because there was barely enough food (and not enough pitas) to go around without him being able to eat with us!!

My family and hopefully everyone I know will be steering clear of this place in the future!!

Pros: The flavor of the food is pretty good.

Cons: The waitstaff and portion size.

All of my family and friends rave about Cedar Garden's food. It is always delicious. We go there often and have always been pleased. The wait staff is not the friendliest but I don't go there to make friends. The food is great and the prices are reasonable.

Cons: Not the friendliest wait staff but acceptable to me.

I was served disgusting, bad-tasting food in a restaurant with dirty dishes, by a waitstaff that couldn't have cared less. I wasn't offered a beverage, and sat at a table with an empty breadbasket in which the waitress, in passing, dropped a baggie containing a a pita. The food was virtually inedible.

I walked in at dinner time on a Saturday night. The restaurant was virtually empty, and the staff was sitting in a booth. They turned and looked as I walked in and waited by the hostess area. There was a woman adding up some receipts. I waited for a minute, and then asked, "Um, do I need to wait, or do I just sit anywhere?" She glanced at me, said, "Sit," and went back to whatever she was doing.

A man in a dirty shirt came by about five minutes later and filled a glass of water on my table. Five minutes after that, he handed me a menu. I wouldn't have stayed past this, but I was hungry and I'm polite. The waitress came by ten minutes after this and said, "what do you want?" I ordered the fuul, saying please and thank you, and she turned around and walked away before I could order a beverage.

15 minutes later I was served the worst plate of fuul I've ever tasted. Fuul is a pretty simple, classic Middle Eastern dish, but this was a pile of beans without seasoning, swimming in lemon juice that was so strong my sinuses burned, with what looked like a couple of chopped chives half-heartedly scattered on top. I reached for the water glass to kill the taste, and it was then that I noticed the lipstick on the glass from the last patron. Disgusted, I looked at the cutlery on the table that I hadn't used...yep, more food on the knife.

I didn't really get a chance to ask to have the situation rectified, because the man in the dirty shirt came by and plunked down the check. I got up, paid at the cash stand, and although the gentleman at the register didn't look up or say anything the whole time I stood there, I volunteered that the glass and cutlery was dirty, with food and lipstick. He said something over his shoulder loudly and shoved my change at me. I went back to my table, collected my things, and the man from the cash stand came by my table and put down a styrofoam cup of water.

I've eaten a lot of Lebanese food in a lot of restaurants in Metro Detroit, and I've always gotten good food for a reasonable price with great service tossed in, to boot. Cedar Garden needs to come to grips with the notion that it's not a privilege for the patrons to eat there; it's a privilege for Cedar Garden to have patrons to serve. Maybe business is non-existent on a Saturday night for a reason. After the fact, I mentioned how horrible my experience was to three of my friends; all three said that they'd had similar experiences, and would never go back there.

Zero stars. I won't be going back.

Pros: I guess being centrally located is a plus

Cons: The headline is a pretty good summary.

I have eaten there before and always enjoyed it. I went there after a long day with my son to enjoy their food. I ordered the chicken shwarma plate and after a few bites, I found hair. I sent it back and got a new plate. After a few bites, again, I found hair. I reported it and he LITERALLY yelled at me! YELLED AT ME!!!! He said that it was my hair. It was less than a half inch size piece of hair and I have really long hair. He started telling the other staff and laughing like I made it up. I was so upset I almost cried. I have never been so disrespected in all my life! I will NEVER NEVER NEVER go back there and I wouldn't suggest anyone else go their either.

I would give it zero stars but they made me enter something.

If Cedar Garden were a man (and my fella didn't mind), I'd marry it!

Whenever I come back to the Detroit area (my home), I skip Dearborn and head to this place--directly from the airport. No joke.

The food is always fresh and never disappoints. The staff will tell you what's especially good that day or evening. They haven't steered me wrong yet.

In the off chance you don't get it from one of Cedar Garden's efficient waitstaff as soon as you sit down, be sure to ask for the fresh bread to be "piping hot" to start your meal off right. The hint of sweetness will really get you salivating.

The only drawback for me regarding this place is the entire menu is healthy--that means no wine or booze with which to get sloppy drunk during or after my meal with friends... I mean, the place is comfortable and there's no pressure from the staff to hurry up and get out so...

Which leads to my second "con":
Because again of the comfort/unwind factor, I tend to need lots of tea to keep me warm during a leisurely meal...large pots would keep the staff from having to constantly refill.

I'm already planning my next trip back...

Pros: Best (seriously) lentil soup, kibbe naye, majadra, more...

Cons: No alcohol, no pots of tea (only individual cups)...

Cedar Garden is located on Mack Ave, is easy to find and has good parking. The staff there is so friendly, they are always quick to take and bring your order.

The food here is really good too, and at decent prices. They have a large menu and all of the food is fresh and yummy. It is a very family friendly place. But the last time we were there, the bathroom was dirty and really needed attention!

This restaurant is located on Mack Avenue, with parking in front and behind it. It is right next to the Shores Madrid Theater. This restaurant has good food, with the meat pies and kibbee beomg wonderful. Prices are comparable to other Lebanese food restaurants, although they may seem high to those not familiar with Lebanese food. Very homey feel to the restaurant, also. Bring the entire family! Major credit cards accepted.
