I have been a client of Dandy Acres for 25 years. They are caring, compassionate people who recognize your pet is NOT just a pet, it is a member of your family. Terri and Dr. Thresa DO NOT put payment before the care of your pet, and do anything to work out affordable payment plan with you no matter what you can afford. (I am speaking of this, from personal experience) I wouldn't take my animals anywhere else, even if I moved miles away.

The prices are slightly high, but well worth it considering the service and attention and care they give our dogs. They do an excellent job of assessing your animals needs and discussing options. Terry is the best with our dogs, whom are nuts but he does a great job of getting them to calm down and get on the scale.

This place overcharges for every service they provide and try to up-sell everything, even treatments. Every time I go in for a nail trim, they ask me if I would like to get my dog's blood tested or if I would like to buy vitamins or prescription food. I am uncomfortable to bring her in there.

I recently had one of my dog's yearly check up and vaccines here in April and I was shocked to get a bill for $400 (a fecal test is approximately $25 when my last vet charged 10, an office visit charge is approximately $40 and my last 2 vets didn't even have an office visit charge, etc). I can't imagine paying $400 per year (not including heart worm medicine) for her every single year. We have 3 dogs!

And then I had to come back 2 weeks after to get a second round of shots for the dog and a different vet came in to examine her and ask me all the same questions that I was asked 2 weeks prior and get the same physical exam. Didn't they keep a chart on her? She doesn't have any health problems and she isn't a puppy. I can't imagine why this was done again.

I thought I had already paid for the shots at my last visit and this was just a second dose of the same shot (no one explained this to me) and I was once again shocked to get a bill for $150 (of course, I was charged another office visit and another exam fee).

My average wait time when I get there for an appointment has been about an hour.

I do have to say that the receptionists (one male and one female that I have dealt with) have always been pleasant and they seem to understand my shock at the charges.

And I should mention that the office always calls me a week after the appointment to make sure my dog is okay and ask if I have any questions.

I understand pets are expensive and they are a part of our family and I would pay any amount to make them well again... but I think this place is overpriced and money-hungry.

Dear Anonymous - I'm sorry you weren't happier at our clinic. Give me a call anytime and I would like to discuss it. I talk to everyone about everything - we have no secrets here at Dandy Acres and when it comes to the money side of things, we are honest and upfront about every nickel because we know how important that is to people. Most clinics will not give you every cost over the phone in the hopes you will come in the door. WE DO. It might cost us some business but we would rather run an honest, hard-working clinic than mislead people. I do hope you will take me up on my offer of talking things over. Maybe I can fix it. That's my job! -Terry McCarthy

Dandy Acres staff is considerate and caring. DASAH puts the animals first and its staff are willing to do whatever they can to see your animal walk out their door healthy and happy. I trust them to perform any surgery or procedure on my dog. I would recommend them to any of my family or friends.
