HORRIBLE Experience! I was told they would take my payment out of my account on the 1st of everymonth.....half way thru my membership they started pulling my payments out on the 30th and 31st and overdrafting my bank account since I dont get paid until the 1st. My membership expired in March....i talked to the management 3 times to make sure my membership was not going to automatically renew. I proceeded to Join Snap Fitness (best gym ever) at the end of March. April rolls around and go workout takes the money out of my account ...after I was told my contract WOULD NOT auto renew.

I have been a member of Go Workout on the west side of town on Saginaw street for 3 years I intially signed up to lose some weight before i got married but the staff there was so helpful and motovating to continue working out that i since have lost 50 pounds and in better shape at 30 then i was at 18 when i was in the ARMY i love the staff there. Since I have gotten my wife and 13 year old daughter involved and is has helped her become on one of the states top soccer players. I have read these other aricles on here thats why i am writing this because in any company that has as many members as Go Workout there will be people that are unhappy. I once was told you can make most of the people happy most of the time, some of the people happy some of the time, but you cant make all the people happy all the time. With as many members and as few bad comments on here I wanted to show that these expierences are rare, and in my overall time at the gym I have loved it.

Go Workout makes me feel at home. Yes, it's a great workout facility, but it's the staff and members that make it stand out from the crowd. I priced out the other places in town first and most were about 2x as much. Funny thing is I'd pay more ... but don't tell them that!

I've been a member of several gyms in my lifetime, and this one ranks at the top. The combination of equipment variety, value for price (memberships include classes, tanning, babysitting, hot tub, sauna, etc), and motivational atmosphere put it at the top of my list.

Wife and I cancelled membership in September. Associate had us sign a slip to terminate and then said she would take care of everything else on the form.

In October we received another charge. Called in to Frank ( I think he's in charge) and he said that technically he could still charge us for October because the date was never filled in on our termination slip from Sept. We advised that the staff associate said she would take care of this but he still said it wasn't their fault.

He said Oct would be the last charge. Nov we were still charged. Contacted our credit card company to disput the charge, which the card company took off our statement.

In Dec we received a letter from Go Work Out saying they were prepared to take us to collections. This place is a complete nightmare. Frank is an incompetent manager with no regard to customer service...which is clear from all of the other bad reviews on here.

My wife and I joined Snap Fitness 24/7. GREAT place to work out at any location nationwide. All local owners with great customer service.

AVOID GO WORK OUT!!!

All the employees were very friendly. They welcomed me with open arms. The equipment was in great condition and I didn't have to wait to use anything. It was a clean motivating atmosphere. I plan on obtaining a full membership ASAP

I have went from a size 16 to a size 7 in less than 8 months! When I first came to my gym (I call Go Workout my gym because thats how they make me feel) I was overweight and had low self esteem from a bad marriage. The employees at Go Workout Gym embraced me and made me feel FANTASTIC! I now have a whole new set of friends and am so excited about that. They are a great group of people and if you want to achieve great health and fitness you really need to go visit them!

They like to make you think one thing and then do another. Some examples:
(1) Came in because I had a coupon for a free trial, no strings attached. However, strings were attached, they told me if I did not sign up that day that they would not give me the special promotional rate. Suckered in.
(2) Wanted a session or two with a personal trainer but I had to negotiate and still ended up buying six. A week later I get a coupon in the mail for a free session (grr).
(3) I have showed up to exercise classes before and if it's only me the instructor will cancel it :( and be like 'that's not all you came for was it?'
(4) they stereotype members and then assign them to personal trainers based on that. They stuck me with the woman trainer who works with obese and old people (I am a young and fit female but not very strong). I don't even like working with her, don't feel like I get much out of it.
(5) They like to keep the gym clean which is a plus, but they mop right literally around where you're working out with strong harsh smelling chemicals
(6) And the last reason, which is why I am writing this tonight, is because I was kicked out of the gym due to the MMA fight next door. They let me into the parking lot when I said I was coming to workout, but a 1/2 hour into my workout a different guy came up and told me they were closed because they were promoting the fight (even though I was not disturbing anyone). They have also canceled exercise classes to accommodate the new MMA schedule, put down permanent MMA mats in the aerobics room which don't work for the step class
(7) Oh yeah, and they play their music too loud for my taste

Pros: Equipment, Facility

Cons: Management

.

When we joined this gym (the south side gym on Edgewood) in 2007, we were impressed with it's convenience, value, and amenities. Over the years, and after a management, we've watched this gym spiral downward in quality and convenience.

Equipment is consistently broken and with months elapsing before it is fixed. Televisions on exercise equipment are often broke. Staff members aren't terribly helpful, and I get the impression that because I don't spend the majority of my time there, I'm not in their "in group." The entire gym now feels like one big commercial with ads and promotions, but I haven't seen much value from the gym in a year.

The aerobic and fitness classes they've offered have been a sole and shining bright spot in my experience, but seem to be diminishing in favor of Mixed Martial Arts enthusiasts. If you enjoy grunting and kickboxing and socializing with meatheads, then it may be the place for you. If you'd like to actually workout and utilize the gym, another locationmay be better for you.

Pros: Good classes; Steroid-Enthusiasts

Cons: Customer Service; Availability; Poor Equpment

.

The owner is the most rude, pompous business owners I have ever met. He cares nothing about you as member, and he knows nothing about working out. All he cares about is your money and how he's going to take as much of it from you as possible. If you go there by chance (which I hope you don't) avoid him.

Stay away!
This gym is poorly managed and they care nothing about you! They want your money and that is all!

I joined this gym about 1 1/2 years ago and then moved to Chicago a few months ago... when I tried to cancel, the managers sent me back and forth from the westside gym to the southside gym saying I wasn't in the right place to fill out paperwork.

When I finally get to actually speak to a manager I was told my acceptance letter to my school in Chicago was not sufficient material to verify a move.

Meanwhile I had to wait for an official document drawn up from the school and I was charged another month of fees. After numerous calls to manager I finally got to him to cancel my account BUT he charged me DOUBLE the cancel fee. I WAS CHARGED $100 dollars plus two extra months fees to cancel!

After having been a member at GoWorkout, I moved to Kentucky in Dec. I provided 30-day notice andproper documentation of my move in November. Not only was I billed in January and February but was assessed a late fee because I had told my bank to stop payment. I have written letters to the gym, called Mike Reyes, the manager, sent faxes and emails for 3 months. No one will return my phone calls or emails.

I cannot adequately how frusterating this has been. I have even called and been hung up on by the staff. BUSINESSES THAT TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS DO NOT DESERVE TO BE PATRONIZED. YOU COULD BE NEXT!

I am not sure what happen to the old owners. This was the old Golds that was run by Bill who you could trust and depend on.

I returned from Iraq last year and was added to my wifes account. I moved to Detroit in December and we called Go Workout day one we knew we were moving. So we were very upset when we saw we were billed in January. After 3 weeks trying to get someone to call us back we were told we had to provide 30 days and we would be charge $50. Which one we called in December and secondly when I was added the sales person told us since my wife was already a year in we are good.

The last owner I know of is probably unaware of this concern. I believe the wolves are keeping the information away from him.
