Borders

★★★★☆
From Singapore and New Zealand to the U.K. and Malaysia, Borders is the only U.S. book retailer to go global with books, magazines, music, calendars, and more, with some stores stocking both English and Spanish titles.

I have never had such TERRIBLE service in my life! At the checkout, the employee REFUSED to accept my coupon even though it was completely valid. I have always been a loyal customer at Borders, but this one experience was sufficient to destroy all loyalties. I definitely do not recommend this store due to its inconsiderate employees!

Many moons ago, back in the time when I actually had my own bookstore, the Border Brothers had their thriving little bookstore on Main Street (or was it State Street?). My store is no more, by my, how Borders has grown. The Border's Group now has more than 1200 Borders and Waldenbooks stores around the world.

Fortunately, Border's on Liberty has lost none of its local charm. You can still find books about Michigan...both the University and the state...as well as local fare and books by Michigan authors. But the remaining selection is immense, encompassing just about every category you can imagine. You can even pick up CDs, DVDs and grab a cup of coffee in the cafe.

Whether you're shopping for a specific title, or just browsing, Border's is a great place to go.

This store has a great selection. It not only has a ton to offer, it also has a way of putting you in a calming and relaxing mood. They have books, music and more and if you have a book lover in the family, this is the place to go.

This Borders has a high volume of both U of M students and non-students so it is good that the knowledgable staff can keep up. You can browse for books, music, magazines, or DVDs in this two-story Borders. If you plan on taking your time in the store, you may want to head up to the second floor cafe for a snack or drink while you browse.

The downtown Ann Arbor Borders also provides much more than the average Borders. Special in-store events are common and include book and poetry readings, author appearances, poetry slams, live music, and more.

Don't forget: Borders will also validate your parking for the nearby garage if you make a purchase.

PROS: Good place to relax and read or enjoy live readings and shows.
CONS: Somewhat rundown/worn due to high traffic.

I normally wouldn't recommend a large book chain, but this Borders is not your typical chain bookstore. This Borders is smack in the middle of the University of Michigan campus, and it feels like a campus version of the book store. Students will often spend their evenings "hanging out" in this Borders.

This Borders is huge, and definitely is the best chain bookstore in Ann Arbor.
