You would never expect it from the location and appearance of Big Ten Party Store but their products are great. They have some of the best Cheeses in town.

As the other posters have mentions, Big Ten Party Store might not be much to look at from the outside, but once you step inside, you will encounter a wine and liquor shop that is unparalleled in its selection and quality.

The staff is very knowledgeable and always willing to help with wine selections. They also handle special orders and give volume discounts. We looked into ordering wine wedding favors, and they had, by far, the largest selection of wine types/flavors, but also sizes (full, half bottles, etc.).

For a wide and fine selection of wines, liquor, and European meats and cheeses, look no further than this unpretentious building on Packard. While most people go to Big 10 for wine, we always went there for Jamon Serrano, Manchego, and other fine Spanish delicacies. The deli's in the back, past the racks of wine, and the staff are very knowledgeable about both the liquor and deli products, offering recommendations for any get together you're having. You can ask for a sample of any cheese they offer before buying.

From the outside, Big Ten looks like a typical party store with its big sign proclaiming the word "LIQUOR", but looks are deceiving. Big Ten does carry party supplies and beer, but their specialty is a terrific selection of wines from around the world and cheeses to match. Their customer service clerks (all decked out in blue smocks) really know their stuff and can help you find the perfect wine for your tastes, budget, and menu. They also have frequent sales and a great mixed case disount (which helps balance their slightly higher prices). The staff is friendly and helpful and will get to know you by name. The biggest problem with Big ten is that because they carry so many good things (wine, cheese, tea, salsa, olive oil, etc.), it's very easy to spend a lot of tiem and money in one trip.
