LOVE the food. At the time they didn't have a liquor license, so we brought our own (I believe they do now, call to check). Very tight (parking and seating). Again, food is great.

Pros: Food

Cons: Small restaurant and parking

Annam is a very intimate restaurant; beautifully decorated and not overdone. We went there on a Saturday night, it wasn't busy so despite the small space it was just right. We had the spring rolls and the crispy rolls to start...nothing

For lunch, my coworker and I decided to have Pho (a common vietnamese specialty: rice noodle soup that comes with the noodles and broth. You add everything else yourself.) Normally what would take us 10 minutes to get anywhere else, it

Pros: HA!--none

Cons: Everything

Lunch started off well: great atmosphere--calm, soothing decor. Elegant, even. We were served an excellent fish broth with vegetables while we read the menu. The crispy rolls with tamarind sauce were good, but subtle. AHA! Subtle

This was a disappointing experience for me as I venture around the city looking for good vietnamese food. In my experience, when a Vietnamese restaurant spend so much on the decoration, the food always is lacking. This time, it was true

Pros: Great waiting staff, small and intimate, pho as good as mine

Cons: only one type of pho, no Bun bo hue, saigon noodle blah

Soft yellow hues and walnut accents create a romantic interior. The decibel level is at a minimum, so you can appreciate both your meal and your conversation. And the wait staff is helpful and out of the way.Vietnamese cuisine is infused with spices such as mint, lemon grass and cilantro, not dependent on heavy sauces like Thai or Chinese. The lightness pleases both adventurous and timid diners. Use the appetizer sampler--won tons, beef in Vietnamese grape leaves, spring rolls--as a taste gauge. Try sweet and sour pineapple-sauteed beef and vegetables, or the light shrimp brochettes and lemon grass. Grilled pork chops and the lightly battered and fried catfish are a twist on the standard. Try the deliciously rich Vietnamese coffee with caramel on the bottom.

We live near a wonderful restaurant town (Philadelphia) and find that Annam is just as good if not better than the restaurants here---both in terms of food and ambience. We try and eat there whenever we are in Detroit!

Excellent Vietnamese Food. Fresh and well prepared. Very good balance of flavors.

The food is very bland. Not worth the money. If you want a resonable, authentic Vietnamese food, go to Windsor for a nice, steamy Pho.
