Royal Oak isn't very close to where I live but I love to visit the farmer's market every month or so because it is always a fun time. The fruits and vegetables are among the freshest available and I especially love the little flea market. You could waste a lazy afternoon browsing through all the trinkets available. Visiting the farmer's market has been a favorite weekend activity of mine since I was young and I intend to continue the tradition when I have children.

I started going to the Royal Oak Farmers Market when I lived in Royal Oak, and 12 years after moving to another city, I still like to go here every other month.

I love the atmosphere of a giant farmers market, and this is one of the nicest ones in the area. Different vendors sell all different fresh produce and flowers and specialties such as homemade jams, canned goods, and honey.

The selection is always fresh, the place is clean and easy to wander though.

PROS: Great atmosphere, good selections
CONS: Only open on weekends

What a fun thing to do on a lazy Sunday morning. Grab some breakfast and coffee on your way in. Browse to your heart's content, great people watching too! Year round the Farmer's market has something you need: veggies and fruits, plants and flowers, pumpkins, Christmas trees, etc. There is also a flea market where you can find hidden treasures, antiques, local artisans peddling their wares. This is fun even if you don't buy. When you're done walk into downtown Royal Oak and grab some lunch or continue your "window shopping". One of the best things about living in this area!

This Royal Oak institution bustles with activity every weekend morning year-round. On Saturdays, vendors bring seasonal items to the farmers market. Shop for flats of flowers and hanging baskets in the spring, fresh fruits and vegetables in the summer, pumpkins and squashes in the fall, and wreathes and Christmas trees in the winter. On Sundays, the building hosts a flea market. You can find fun and funky furniture, home decor, collectibles, clothes, as well as plenty of "junque." Parking is free (though it can be tight) and you are walking distance from downtown Royal Oak.

PROS: Lots of vendors, good people watching, free parking
CONS: Can be expensive
