I was SO sad to read the reviews of the people who suffered at this school long ago. It absolutely breaks my heart, especially because my children's experience from 2004-2010 was so wonderful. I was very active there and had a chance to meet all the teachers and staff and be in the classrooms and what a loving, vibrant place it was. My children were nothing but happy there. I am so sorry that children were unhappy there and wish that those hurts could have been mended.

I wen't there grades K-6 and loved it. My friends I made there I still have almost all of them today! I am sad to leave because it means leaving a place I've been at since I was a little kid. So anybody who is dissing Oakdale should take that up with me because I love that school!!!

PROS: everything
CONS: none

Isn't it interesting to read the other review written by the girl who came home every day crying. I'm 56 years old, a graduate of Oakdale Christian School back in 1965 and guess what? I also came home every day crying from the cruelty of "Christian" kids who came from "Christian" homes. The teachers in this school, also "Christians" weren't any better and if they themselves were not also cruel, they looked the other way when weaker students were picked on by bullies. NO, forty years never made this horrible school any better I'm so sorry to say.

I believe the root of the problem to be in the Calvinist doctrine of the Christian Reformed Church, a judgemental, warped, maniacal belief filled with self loathing and comtempt for others. It never has come close to being what Christianity is really about, nor will it ever. It's a fact that the founder, John Calvin had people burned at the stake for not embrassing his sick doctrine and this church and it's schools are grounded in such a monster ! Beware! This denomination, the Christian Reformed, Calvinist denomination, is a dangerous cult.

Fortunately rather than totally throw the Bible out, like so many who has been victimized by this church, I found real Christianity in the Baptist church. I do not recommend this school especially if you love your children and respect and love the Lord Jesus Christ.

I went here in the 7th grade and am so glad that its over! the students made life here so hard and the teachers didnt make it much easier. I had one teacher that I loved here but I guess she is not there anymore either. I had students calling my house telling my parents how I did drugs and they were posing as teachers when they would make the calls. They give each student a book with ALL the students names, addresses and phone numbers in the books so its simple for someone to call you and make prank calls. I had a teacher there who dragged me out of class one day and took me in the stair case and started screaming at me and pushing me, no one came to help me. I came home crying almost every day begging my mom to get me out of this place. It says its a christain school but I didnt see where that was true except for they did have a bible class.
Now that I have children, I REFUSE to let them even go near this place. when I am on that side of town I still get goose bumps, I extremely dislike this place. The only thing that kept me from really going nuts is this one teacher who seen everything I was going through. She made me feel better about myself even when these other people made me feel like trash. Maybe God sent me there just to meet her but wow I had to go through sooo much. I hope that no one ever has to feel the pain I had to feel from being in a school like this. I mean I know children can be mean sometimes but shouldnt the teachers be there to help rather then join in on it? Thank God one of them was kind enough not to.
