I don't usually write review but I was wanting to comment on how great the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City is, and I also wanted to say that for our two dogs Bokhara Pet Resort in Elk Rapids is just plain wonderful! They have a really great wing just for small dogs with beautiful cageless sleeping areas and play sessions for our two Yorkies. The dogs had a great time, our kids had a great time. If you are going to Traverse City with your pets - don't leave them at home - take them with you and check out this Bokhara Pet Resort. You will be as impressed as we were.

We recently bought a new summer home on Torch Lake and Bokhara Kennels was recommended to us by our up north vet for boarding our pets. I can only say really great things about this facility for it is spectacular! The grounds are wonderful with flowers and gardens everywhere. When we drove down the long driveway there were dogs on walks, other people taking their own dogs to the lake for swimming and everything and everyone looked like fun. Our dogs stayed for a week and took part in all of the activities. They came home smelling clean and we were really - really pleased to find such a very nice boarding place for our pets when we are in Michigan. Wish there was something like this in Florida.

Being new to Traverse City our vet recommended Bokhara to board our cat and dog. We toured the facility and the owners were really nice and they raise and show russian wolfhounds. Mrs. Smith is a dog show judge.

we arrived unannounced to take a look and the kennel was more than we could have dreamed of for our pets. In fact, the grounds, buildings and location are so nice we asked if we could come and stay for a week at the kennel. It was clean! and I mean really clean - not a smell anywhere. The dogs are in one large building and the cats are in a really cute victorian cottage well away from the dog areas. This building even has an old iron hand pump outside the door left over from the 1800's. Really a cute old cottage converted to private cat boarding. Oh, our cat was not in a cage - they actually have large runs just for cats and really big rooms just for cats. Minx loved the suite with floor to ceiling climbing things.

Becky the front desk lady was wonderful, smiling and you could tell she loves dogs - in fact she told us she has seven (a sled dog team) of huskies.

I honestly can't say enough good things about this place and the price wasn't as bad as we were paying in Detroit. I want to stay there for a week.

This is the place that your dogs must stay. I was apprehensive about leaving my dogs with a stranger when I went out of town. At first they were apprehensive but they took to Bokhara right away. I paid for them to go on walks and they each got a bath. When I came they were so happy to see me but you could tell they were sad to leave. I trust them like they are family and I think you should too.
