  • Inviting Atmosphere

From the moment Terry Kiernan first threw open the doors of Kiernan's Steak House in 1965, he had one goal in mind: To provide a warm, welcoming place where metropolitan Detroit families could always find fantastic food at down-to-earth prices. Nearly forty years later, our goal remains the same. And as generations of satisfied patrons prove, we've succeeded in creating the kind of place people like--and like to come back to. So stop in, and stay awhile. From our family to yours, we'd like to extend a warm Irish welcome.

Great veal  5 Star Rating - World class

This is a family owned business that has great service. The steak and veal are incredible! I love the Martini bar. I would highly recommend this restaurant for dinner.

Wonderful Food, Wonderful Service, Wonderful Prices  5 Star Rating - World class

Kiernans is my very favorite steak house. They have great steaks, as well as other foods, at very reasonable prices. They have great service as well. They also offer an awesome birthday deal, the birthday boy/girl gets their dinner (up to $13.99) absolutely free. I've never had bad food there, or bad service. If there is a wait to get in, they have an awesome Martini bar next door that you can wait it.

Birthday Disaster  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

We went there for a birthday and were seated at a round table. We couldn't hear each other. The food was terrible!!! The service was bad. For the expensive price you'd expect more. My sister did like it and wanted to go back but we all said we wouldn't go to that place again.

Terrible, cold, food 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

I will never go to this overprice, steakhouse again. The potatoes were cold, steak overcooked (I ordered it medium, got burnt). Service was poor. Waitstaff rude. Not recommended if you want a nice evening out.

Pros: Nothing about this place is good
Cons: Terrible, poor food quality

Great as always!! 5 Star Rating - World class

Went to Kiernans again Friday night (7-13-2007). Service by Karen was great. She always does a great job. My filet mignon was awsome and cooked just how i ordered it. Baked potatoe was hot and very good.
my wife had the steak Kiernan dish and she said it was great as usual. That seems to be the only thing she orders. We had a bottle of wine (Jordon Cabernet). My favorite bottle from the many selections on their wine list. Been going to Kiernans for years and everything is always good. The staff is very nice and one of the owners is always around to greet us and say hello. We hope to have many more enjoyable meals there in the years to come. Keep up the good work.

Pros: geat food and a good drink

Not Impressed 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

I have lived in Dearborn over 6 years, my first visit to Kiernans was on 7-7-07.

We started out with oysters rock, they were good.
Our salads came after that and they were warm and soft lettuce, we didnt complain.

Our entres came out and they looked good, the lamb chops I had were not cooked as I had asked, and absolutley no seasoning, very bland. The rice that came with it was worse than boxed.

My husband had the sat. night special of steak, lobster tail and shrimp, his steak tasted mushy, like it was frozen, not seasoned well, his shrimp reminded me of dinner at red lobster, not good.

The empty dining room should of been my guss as how the food was going to be, but we thought we would give it a chance, I can see why they added a martini bar next -door.

Pros: Will not have to wait for a table on a saturday night!
Cons: terrible food.

Cold Food 2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

overcrowded for New Years - ordered sauteed perch at $28 with rice, received cold plate of mashed potatoes with colder fish. Instead of taking two minutes to cook fresh meal - they microwaved the fish - which made it rubbery.

Dry, overcooked steaks and poor service! 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Our first (and last) visit to Kiernan's was terrible!

The waitress seemed to be in a bad mood, and did not take good care of us. We waited approximately 45 minutes for our steaks, which were overcooked and dry when she finally brought them out. We normally would send them back, but based on her mood toward us, we decided to write it off. The food, the atmosphere and the service definitely did not add up to the $80 tab for my wife and me.

We are the type of customers waitpeople like to wait on - we are not demanding people, we are friendly to our servers, and we typically tip 20+ percent. I state this to add context to my comments regarding Kiernan's - we will never go back.

Cons: Poor quality of food, Poor Service, Overpriced
