I have been a parent at Little Lambs Christian Preschool for 2 years now and I LOVE this school. I recommend it whole heartedly to parents looking for a play-based preschool with a curriculum. This play-based program is very low-key and low stress, but there is a curriculum, and the children learn critical skills and important information. Director and teacher Shari Jackson runs a great program that, as she puts it, ??allows all children to succeed in kindergarten, regardless of the school their parent??s send them to?. Shari maintains a teacher to student ratio of no more than 1:4 in the 4 year old class, and no more than 1:3 in the three year old class. This allows her and the other teachers in the classroom to truly know a child??s needs and their capabilities. At any given point, and for any given activity, the teachers are working with the students to ??be the best THEY can be? (to borrow a phrase). They can do this because they know the developmental level of each child in the room. There are two conferences a year with the parents. Each child is evaluated on a range of behavioral, social and academic skills. The Spring review is 6 pages long, with several hundred skills reviewed.

The preschool is in the basement of the First Baptist Church of Plymouth, but don??t let that put you off. The room is bright and cheery, and immaculately clean. There is ample room for the children to play and work, and there is a gym upstairs and a playground outside that are used to let the children run and play. This is a Christian preschool, so there are activities and references to God and Jesus almost every day. However, it is what I call ??generic Christian?. There are no Baptist-specific tenets or dogma presented. Bible stories are read most days and a prayer is said before snack (??Thank you Jesus for our food . . .). Actually, for the two years I have been here, the vast majority of the class has been Catholics, on their way to the local Catholic elementary school.

Shari prepares her students very well to succeed in kindergarten. The low student to teacher ratio enables students to truly master skills they will need going forward. The creative curriculum is academic based, but is taught in a play based environment. I looked at about 12 different preschools before I found Little Lambs Christian Preschool, and none of them can hold a candle to this program. I strongly encourage you to check it out.
