Super Beers, Foods and Fun

Yippee I yea what a place to drink some of the best Craft brewed beers to found in our great state, along with the most helpful wait staff and cooks that blow yo mind. The most amazing selection of burgers and fish meals are WOW a must try. Free popcorn as your seated and super selection of super priced meals will keep me coming back for more. Join the beer club and get super discounts. I highly recommend the burger with a potato perogi on top called the JW Burger along with the house made deep fried pickles. trust me there's something for every ones taste here. I just visited during Wyandotte's restaurant week and am planning a trip back soon.

The world today is a different place than even ten years ago. Everyones a critic because everyone can post a review of a restaurant online.
This isnt something Ive invented and it damn well better be something a restauranteur should understand and drive into their teams every day.
Back in the winter, my wife & I visited Sports on a cold Friday evening. Neither of us could recall anything extraordinary about the visit except the menu had a pretty good variety.
3rd Friday June, we decide to try it again. We took a risk because of the 3rd Friday but the place was only 2/3 full when we arrived. Not too busy but a good crowd thatll bring a smile to an owners face.
I think they threw 15 more tables into the place since our last visit because there wasnt 6 inches to squeeze between the tables. That wasnt a big problem since we werent there for ballroom dancing, just a dinner out to support Wyandotte business.
After we ordered a couple drinks, I ordered a pierogi burger & my wife ordered a chicken wrap. That was the last we saw of our server for the next 40 minutes. Now we arent the impatient types that expect the servers every two minutes but we were beginning to think they forgot about us and maybe we should go somewhere else before we drop into a coma. Just as we were getting a bit antsy & about to leave, the food came.
Our orders werent complicated, burger medium & chicken wrap less lettuce. What we got was a burger that seamed like they started cooking it when we ordered it and brought it out seconds after it came off the grill. Im surprised they had the talent to keep the inside of the burger from burning. It was so well done the only thing that could make the burger worse was the fried pierogi that they started frying on Tuesday. On the plus side, the fries I up ordered for an extra buck were only slightly less crispy than the potato chips they substituted. Also, they acted like my concience and made the healthiest burger in the world. Not because it was low fat or low cholesterol or some such thing. This was bar none, smallest burger Ive EVER been served in a bar. This was just marginally bigger than a White Castle burger.
My wife commented that the she was surprised they could boil so much flavor out a chicken fillet before slicing it up for her wrap.
Unfortunately, thats not where the story ends. Our daughter loves fried pickles so when our order came we put in an order of pickles to go. That was our last mistake. We were through choking down our food, had to ask for our check, got our check & paid the bill 5 minutes before they could bring out the order of pickles. It would have been quicker to run the order over to LTB than wait for this place.
Here we are in the midst of a big depression where everyone is trying to stretch every dollar and dinners out are more a luxury than a habit. Therefore how money is spent makes a huge difference. When I go out, I want value for my money. Again, restauranteurs should understand this more than I do. If I go to a restaurant and have to wait too long for a small portion of low quality, overcooked food, there is nothing more I can do except let my shipwreck be a warning for others.
Sports Brew Pub has done nothing to earn your money. Please take my advice and do not go to this place.

This place used to be really good and always packed on Friday nights. Have not been here in a while and went last Friday night. We all got the fish dinners. You used to get large portions. Now you get either a half order or a full order. Thinking how much you used to get, I ordered the half order of Perch. It came with 3 tiny pieces and cold fries. The beers are not all the great anymore either. This place used to be really good. We were really disappointed! Was not even crowded in the place. Lots of empty seats.

The first few times that I went here, I had a pretty positive experience, but everything after that has not been so positive.. the beer quality has not been that great in the past few years, with the exception of their IPA on tap using nitrogen gas - very creamy and enjoyable. Also, wanted to add that most of the waitstaff have been great, however, the barstaff lacks professionalism.

This is a very relaxed environment to enjoy a casual dinner or drink. They offer their own beer brewed on site. You can also bring the kids for a reasonably priced dinner.

This is a great palce to catch a game, eat a good burger and homemade chips. The beer selection is good and they have their own brews also. Nice staff.
