There is SO much to see when you walk into this store! From simple cross-stitch projects to unbelievably intricate patterns on almost mesh-like fabric with tiny beads. There must also be thousands of patterns, but they are grouped by subject for easy browsing. Besides framing services, they also sell accessories, such as wooden boxes, into which you can mount your work. It's definitely worth a visit!

I have been cross-stitching for 20 years, and happily take a 45 minute trip to go to the Rocking Horse in downtown Farmington. There is no one else I will trust to frame my creations, and browsing through their items and looking at the samples is a joy. If you cross-stitch, check them out! It is a wonderful place.

PROS: Beautiful frame-work, variety of merchandise
CONS: long trip for me from Howell!

This shop is a well known little treasure in this part of the metropolitan Detroit area. They cater to an upscale stitcher and carry many of the beautiful large charts for big projects. They have a full range of many novelty hand-dyed flosses, too .. cotton, linen and silk .. as well as stitching accessories. Looking for a pretty box to stitch a panel in for your hubby's desk? They have it. Want a fancy sheath for your scissors? You'll find it there. Need a specialty thread or fiber? Check here first and save yourself aggrevation. Fabrics .. they have everything from basic aida cloth to hand-dyed linens. In so many colors your eyes will spin! Lots of country-type designs but also lots of more elegant looking designs, too. One last comment .. once your stitching is complete, consider taking your piece to them for framing. They do exquisite work there, and being stitchers themselves, they know HOW to do it without damaging your work. It's a delightful place to shop.

PROS: gentle place - lots of pretty things to stitch - great variety
CONS: ummm .. my plastic always moans as I leave but I don't care.
