Two reasons to go to The Moose Preserve: Quality food and friendly service. I used to sit at the bar and enjoy the drinks and conversation. Now I sit with my family and enjoy the food and atmosphere. I'm planning a business lunch in the area and came across the review recently posted. It sounds a lot like a personal attack from someone with an insider's view to the restaurant business (Shame on you if you are a competitor or have a personal vendetta!). I have never had a bad experience and recommend The Moose Preserve to anyone looking for good food or great, casual atmosphere in the Bloomfield area.

We went there last night for prime rib as Saturdays is prime rib night. We could only get medium well or well done at 7:00 p.m. We were very disappointed. The waitress was slow and we had to ask for things twice including water. There were 5 of us at the table, asked for water twice and then she brings us 4 waters. The service went downhill from there. It was loud and the management doesn't seem to care that there were small children running around through the tables as customers like us were trying to eat and relax. After dinner we moved into the bar after we were told we couldn't go in there. We asked why and the hostess said you can't get food in there. We already ate we said so she let us in there. How weird is that? Then one of us didn't know what she wanted to drink after the rest of us ordered and the bartender with the two toned hair rolled her eyes and acted as though WE were bothering her. That bartender needs a new profession as we could see she was burnt out and had no patience for anything that night. The manager and owner (not sure if they are one in the same) should keep a better eye on the goings on in there. We don't intend to go back.

I love this place! My family and I just booked our annual Thanksgiving dinner. They are so accomodating and we love them year-round, but especially at Thanksgiving. We have a larger group (about 20 people) and we never feel cramped.

Best Thanksgiving dinner out with family. Since we werent doing the at home one year we went out to a restaurant. This place served a very traditional dinner which was great. The atmosphere was very log cabin-esqe with all sorts of animals and antlers on the wall. Very festive.

Don't write many of these, but whenever I come in town for business, this eatery is what makes me happy to step on the plane (not a knock on the city at all - just really like The Moose Preserve). Whether it's a quick lunch (just about any burger-type meal is great) or a full dinner (ahhhhh, shepherd's pie), The Moose Preserve and their staff are great. Don't just take my word for it though - go check it out. See you there.

Pros: Service, service, service (did I mention service?). Previously in the business and staff is king!

Cons: Not in town enough to go all the time

The Moose Preserve has been a staple of my families diet for past 3 years. With a kitchen that closes late every night (11 Sunday-Tue 12 Wed and 1 Thur -Sat) it is a convenient family friendly place to have anything from Burgers, Mexican, steaks, wild game and of course world famous chocolate chip cookies. It is a place that is good for all occasions from Palace Events to a Holiday meal.

The bartenders always pour the best drinks, you never feel cheated when the bar tab gets a little high. It also has the best drink special in Bloomfield Hills with half off drafts on Thursday night.

With friendly staff I highly recommend the Moose Preserve

Yeah, it's supposed to be healtier than beef... But that just makes you feel better about enjoying it so much! Great staff, always fun, The Moose Preserve is a great place to hang out. Lots of good stuff on the menu, but, of course, the Buffalo is recommended!!!

I was back in town this weekend and stopped by The Moose Preserve, my old watering hole. This place is a staple, great food, friendly and fast service. Now that we have kids the fast is important. The kids spent time playing with wiki stix (a pretty cool alternative to the whole crayon thing) that entertained them so we could enjoy our meals.

We enjoyed our lunch on the outdoor patio that was not there 15 or so years ago. This is way cool and a must for outdoor dining. Hope you will enjoy the outdoor dining while it lasts and save room for the famous chocolate chip cookies, they are served hot which is the key to the best part about the cookies. I have now made my wife a Moose Preserve fan.

I used to be a regular eating there 2 to 3 times a week.
However about a year ago, we had a bad incident (ignored by the staff).
We decided to give it another try (could have been a bad day, everyone has them). I brought a few other people with me and we sat on the deck and service was horrible.
The final straw was earlier this year when I was charge well over 2x what the item cost on the menu. I didn't notice it till later that night. Three strikes and you are out.
Management was going to take care of the first two incidents with a gift certificate which I never received. I was informed management was going to take care of the blatant overcharge with a gift certificate too. I haven't seen that and it's been months.
The food is very good and that and the service had me as a regular for years. But, something must have changed there via ownership or cutbacks to cause it to go from a 5 star place to a 1 star. Sad.

Pros: Great food. Great Variety.

Cons: Service and Management has declined drastically in the past 2 years.

Great beer selection and wild game food selection. I always get the BBQ chicken sandwich though. AND you have to get their just baked chocolate chip cookies for dessert. You'll get a whole plate of them, take them home if you're full. There is a good bar area, good restaurant area and good back patio area. A lot of alums from local high schools hang out here.

OK - It's been around for a while, but still haven't found any place as fun or consistent with food as The Moose Preserve. Try the ribs or buffalo... and end with the chocolate chip cookies (this is a staple with all my clients). You'll love the wait-staff, but come back for the bartenders. I'm not sure if they actually pay them better there, but they always attract young, fun people to work there (yes, guys too). Nothing snobby ever, and everytime we go the food is great and we're served in time to get to the game.

Oh yeah, lunches are now even better with wi-fi (couldn't logon first time without some help, but they were quick to solve the issue and no problems since - even on the deck).

Pros: Unique food, fun staff, great place to meet before the game or watch the game

Cons: Get there early on concert/game nights... they'll get you out in time if you do

Stay in Birmingham or Royal Oak. Stay away from this place. This once old-faithful eatery has changed for the worse. Recent complete(?) turnover of staff and management can only mean one thing- New and not-so-friendly owners or some drastic and un-needed change in philosophy. It's apparent that the name, building decor and recipes remain. The food seems the same, however the staff seems over-worked and painfully under-trained(lack of simple menu knowledge, wine, desserts). I hope you have time to wait due to mysteriously long waits for tables, even worse on certain nights (concerts, high school events). Give it a try. You may like it. I'll spend my hard earned salary in Royal Oak, Birmingham or Rochester.
Go MSU!

Pros: Large parking lot. Close to Palace, DTE.

Cons: Prohibited from parking in the lots sometimes?

Whether you want a simple hamburger or something more adventuresome, the Moose Preserve can please you with their food. I've had a number of things on their menu, from their club sandwich to their jerkchicken pasta special, and have never had a complaint. The service is decent, and the atmosphere is nice- very casual and friendly. One of the best restaurants of the area

Not really a family-oriented place to go to eat. With that said, it is a good place to go after work to unwind with co-workers or friends.
The atmosphere is cabin-like. The back room has a large screen for the sports people. The drinks are good. The food (snacks) are good. The prices are a little high, but that is almost to be expected. I do highly recommend.

The waitstaff here are friendly and remarkabel. This is definitely a great place to go to. They go above and beyond in making sure that your expierience is good, yet not so uptight. They are laid back and don't go over some big speel every time they talk to you. Believe you me, if you are a regular they know what you want and exactly the way you like it. This staff does not have a big turn over, which says alot. Most people have been there for at least 5 years and the rest have been there for 10+.
