I have been a regular customer of Mustard's for the last 10 years! My meals and service have been great and the few times things were lacking I brought it up to the owner, Luke. He is very nice and will always go out of his way to make his guests happy! If you are looking for a fun and friendly place with great food then Mustard's is for you! Super big outdoor seating area, fun and funky decor in the dining room, silly names for everything on the menu, fair trade organic coffee, and owned by one of the nicest families I know.

I have to clarify the stars given. I would give 5 stars for breakfast to this place, but today, when I went there for lunch, I would not come back again for their lunch time. When I had breakfast, I had a gourmet pancake that was absolutely wonderful. The staff on that day were great. I felt that I could actually enjoy my breakfast and would encourage others to go there for breakfast. For lunch today when I went there, I ordered the special. I had a rude employee take my order---who greeted me with the attitude that she was annoyed with me bothering her. She acted as though I was taking up her precious time when I had asked her a question. She interacted differently with a male customer however. The bread on the sandwich I had was beginning to show signs of mold growing on the crust! Even if it wasn't getting to that condition, it tasted like supermarket bread...not high quality home-made crusty bread. It was a small half sandwich that had no flavor to it. The turkey in the sandwich tasted like the cheap deli kind. The chili was great (black bean). It had great flavor and the right kind of spices.
So for an overall rating--mine is mixed. Will I go back there...it depends. If it is for breakfast..it is very possible. For lunch--most likely not.

In a quest to find a breakfast worthy of my patronage in Traverse City, I brunched at almost every spot under the sun. By chance, I stumbled upon Mustard's breakfasts. I had long been eating the sandwiches at this tasty lunch spot, and recently was able to try both the pancakes and the eggs as well. Mustard's has an array of items to choose from, no matter what you're in the mood for. Spicy, cheesy, and veggie sandwiches, buttery pancakes, and fluffy eggs are on the menu, as well as my personal favorite side dish--hash brown rounds. The prices at this joint are reasonable, and the portions are big. The only complaint I have is the ambiance--it is very loud, just because there are always so many people there! Delicious.

Mustard's offers creative, tasty and inexpensive sandwiches, wraps and salads for the downtown lunch crowd. About half of the offerings are vegetarian, including a spicy sandwich of locally-made tempeh. While Mustard's is most popular for lunch, breakfast is worth a visit, especially for the New Orleans-style beignets. In the summer, most diners enjoy eating al fresco on the restaurant's large patio. The coffee bar is good, too, serving organic java.

Pros: vegetarian offerings, organic coffee, fresh
