In ShortFounded in 1901 in Chicago by Charles R. Walgreen Sr., this neighborhood pharmacy has grown to be one of the nation's largest drugstore chains. Each store carries 25,000 different items--from cleaning products to electronics and greeting cards. Walgreens frequently has items that are free after rebate. The Walgreens on Dort always seems to have these items in stock and their cashiers are extremely pleasant and helpful if I can't find something.

I love love love my walgreens. Not only do they have wonderful end of the season sales, they staff is always very friendly and knowledgable. We fill around 30 prescriptions a month, and the staff knows my family and history by name. Its nice that a big corporation still has a little bit of a home town feel.
PROS: Friendly staff, Great prices
CONS: Closes early on Sunday
