This shop closed its doors for business several years ago.

Fodder to make the stupid 100 character limit to allow this to be submitted so that people looking for shops in Dearborn won't waste their time going to a non-existent shop.

I was excited to visit this store, but I have to say I was somewhat dissapointed when I visited. I'm not a very serious sewer, so that is probably why. I did find a very neat cross stitch kit that I got, but I thought it was rather pricey. I may go back, if I'm looking for something special, but for my everyday sewing needs I prefer more of the bargain shops. It is defiantely a neat place to go occasionaly though.

Welcome to Needle Arts in Dearborn. If it looks somewhat familiar, that's because the owner, Shay Pendray, is the lady on the PBS program about stitching. This is the quintesential needlepoint shoppe .. with evry color of Paternan Persian yarn sold by the thread and every color of pearle cotton in evry size you can imagine. As well as piles of hand painted canvases and charts and other stitching tools and toys. Shay's personal interest is in Oriental stitchery .. she has been stitching in Japan with the Masters for years and she carries the highly specialized accessories that this art form requires. By the way .. the winner of a national competition last year was a student of Shay Pendray and frequently works in the shop. Yes, they have all sorts of classes .. I took a sashiko embroidery class there (sashiko is a form of Japanese stitching that looks very much like quilting on a solid plain ground in concentric designs .. yes, they carry the fabrics for this, straight from Japan) It's one of the few places that one can actually find real gold bullion for stitching or certain specialty instruction books. This shop is well worth a drive and a visit. There is a small amount of cross-stitch materials but a full line of tatting threads.

PROS: If you need it, Shay has it in the shop.
CONS: WHAT cons??
