Horrible establishment! I took two ties to be cleaned. First of all I was surprised to learn that it would cost me $9 for two ties, but I was willing to pay to have the job done right (or so I thought). I went to pick them up two days later. I took them out of the plastic bag while I was in the store and realize that they had done absolutely NOTHING to them other than sticking them in a plastic bag. They still had the same exact spots on them and they were still wrinkled. I had them sent back a second time (willing to give them the benefit of the doubt) and they came back almost exactly the same. I didn't want to pay for an incomplete and unsatisfactory job and three trips to the dry cleaners but the clerk was not allowed to give me a ANY sort of discount. I called the regional office before paying for them in hopes of getting them to authorize a discount. The customer service rep was a complete jerk and refused to give any type of discount. I told her I would tell all of my friends NOT to use their business. I will return to my mom and pop dry cleaner even though it is more out of the way.

My sales job requires I wear a suit & tie, so I've been taking my drycleaning to the Sheldon location at the intersection of Breton & Burton SE for the last 6 months or so, mostly because it's the most convenient location on my way to work. Their prices seem a little high, compared to other cleaners in the area, but it's a very convenient drop off/pick up location, so I used them despite the cost.

I'd estimate that about 50% of the time I pick up items I've left for cleaning, they are returned still dirty....spots, stains, etc.
The items definitely look like they've been put through some sort of process, but the stains are obviously not being pre-treated. I've learned that I need to unwrap the items in the store when I go to pick them up, to make sure they're not still dirty. I ALWAYS get some attitude from the clerk that happens to be there when I point out that I want the item re-done. Yesterday, I made the mistake of mentioning that I seem to be getting my clothes back dirty more and more. The girl snapped right away that "spots are NEVER GUARENTEED, NEVER GUARENTEED". I asked her why when I send them back to be re-done do they come back clean? Why don't they get them clean the first time? Well, she didn't like that at all and immediately got even more snippy and said "I don't work in the plant!" [Listen chick, sorry I walked in and interrupted your book-reading, but if you don't want to deal with customers, get a different job].
This isn't an isolated event. Last fall I dropped off a black wool sweater to be dry-cleaned, and when I picked it up it was very, very obvious it had been laundered, not drycleaned. It looked as though someone had used it to towel-dry thier white cat....completely covered in white pet hairs. How it got bagged up without being caught is beyond me. When I took it back, the older hag working there at the time was just fit to be tied because I had interrupted her cash drawer counting....at about 10 mins before their closing time.
Sheldon used to have a pretty fantastic reputation in Grand Rapids. Not sure what happened or when, but they lost it. I've asked around and most people tell me that it's not the same company it used to be. Now I'm not sure where to go, becuase Affendoulis is even crappier.

When I had my 3 month old comforter cleaned by Sheldon it was ruined. I dropped off my comforter before noon because I was assured that it would be available to me by 4pm the next day. When I went to pick up the comforter I was told that it had to be re-cleaned. I asked why because the item was VERY lightly soiled and had no spots on it. When the manager came over to look at my ticket after I complained, a look of panic came across her face. I knew something was wrong and I asked if they had ruined my comforter. I went back two days later to see if my comforter was ready. This time they told me it was still drying. When I inquired as to what they meant and asked if they had laundered my comforter instead of dry cleaning, they denied it. So, the third day I was finally able to pick up my comforter only to find out they had turned my comforter, a $300 comforter 3 month old comforter, into a bedspread. When I complained I was treated extremely rudely. I should have paid attention to the customer who was complaining about them ruining her garment when I first dropped my comforter off. To be foretold is to be forewarned.....you've just been forewarned. Steer clear of this cleaner.

This is a great place to drop off your clothes that can only be dry cleaned. the prices are great, and they do a great job on them. They usually have coupons too which lower the prices even more. highly recommended.
