I took a "learn to knit" class when I was in college. The class was great and I learned a lot. However, on subsequent visits, the service was not great. They just weren't that friendly. The selection is very good though!

The Knit A Round Shop in located on Plymouth Rd., and is easy to find. They have lots of parking. They also have a wonderful selection of yarns, needles, patterns and they offer classes.

The staff is super friendly and know their knitting. They can help with any knitting problem you may have.

You have to try this store if you knit.

This shop is easy to find, right on the corner of a central strip mall. The yarn offered is great quality; a little more expensive than most, but you are paying for the expertise and atmosphere. Yarns aren't wound, but they will wind them for you if you ask. The shop focuses on knitting, so beyond the yarn there are really only knitting accessories; no crochet needles or other crafting supplies. There are knitting classes and groups offered fairly regularly.

This shop is set on the end of a strip mall and thus has two sides of windows .. which means lots of lovely natural light to chose your colors. It's one of the few places that carries a really good selection of koigu for socks and shawls. I found linen yarn there .. stiff to work with but soft and drapey once knitted and dressed as a shawl. Every person working in this shop IS a knitter .. and yes, they will answer questions. Needles .. this is the only place I've seen a full range of Bryspun needles hanging on the wall. They do advertise classes and run frequent sales and specials. It's the sort of shop that you can pop into after picking up the groceries at Krogers .. and .. oh, my, just happen to find EXACTLY what you've been searching all over creation for! IN STOCK .. and enough of it to make your project.

PROS: location/easy access, great selection, variety of price ranges
CONS: Cons??
