The Produce Station is one of my favorite places to shop, though I don't go there nearly often enough.

In the spring I always check out their selection of annual flowers along the railroad tracks. In the fall, I look at their ceramic pots when they start going on sale. Any time of year I can count on great produce and food inside the shop. Stop by for fresh fruit and veggies, the few essentials you forgot for dinner, or possibly some prepared food at the salad bar.

THey only carry the freshest produce. Costs a little more, but the quality is tops. If it doesn't meet their standards, they don't just put it out and hope it sells; they send it back to their supplier.

Youd expect good produce from a store that specializes in it, and thats what you get at the Produce Station. What might surprise you though, are the other items available there. Annuals and perennials are offered throughout the summer. Pumpkins at Halloween and Christmas trees atwhat elseChristmas time. They also have a killer salad bar, and offer both hot and cold foods for lunch or dinner. Throw in their Zingermans bread stand, and youll understand why I shop there all the time.

I first checked out the Produce Station on a recommendaton. It is a neat store. They have a large variety of fresh produce and other gourmet items. Oen of the htings I really liked was that all the produce is labeled with where it ws grown. This helps to give you an idea of how it was rown and how fresh it is-- helpful information when you're working on a special recipe. they also carry some of the other staples so that you could cover almost all your grocery shopping there. However, their prices are higher than I would pay for my staples. I also foudn that hte store feels crowded. It's a small place and generally quite busy, not really a problem if you can go by yourself, but not easy to navigate with a child.

The Produce Station has an amazing amount of plants, flowers and shrubs to choose from. Just driving by it is enough to intrique customers to stop in. There are just row after row of hanging baskets and potted plants. They all look so beautiful and healthy. So lush. What came as a suprise to me was the grocery store at the heart of the "station". Half of it feels like a farmers' market with farm-fresh produce (of the highest quality) offered seasonally. Inside is a specialty store of unique food items from the US and world-wide. Their prices tend to be on the higher side, but I think in this situation your really paying for the higher quality. It's the kind of store that just beckons you to try something new or makes you dream of having a green thumb!

PROS: SO much variety
CONS: so much variety
