My mother and I have been customers of Holly Tire & Auto for a little over two years and they have two loyal customers for life. Ben and Allan are very courteous and knowledgeable. They make sure you're fully aware of what's going on with your vehicle and if they find something that wasn't in the initial quote, they call you to let you know and what their recommendation is as well as the additional cost. When it comes to tires, the will price match their competitors. It's a no-brainer for us. You get one stop shopping for all of your repair needs as well as treated with courtesy and respect. They truly do value their customers.

I would first like to start by saying I do what I can to support the community and small business owners when it comes to services I need.
With that being said, I am Mechanically incline but somethings need to be professionally fixed. My car has driven fine without problem till one day she just wouldn't start and left me stranded, I had the car towed to my home and began the process of elimination. I changed the fuel pump / wires / cap / rotor/ plugs/ ignition coil and also rebuilt the carb, I was getting spark and a lot of fuel, now as I said I am mechanically incline, but I am no master mechanic. the carb I rebuilt was dumping fuel, flooding, and spilling out of the accelerator pump, at that time I had enough and started calling around.

About 3 days ago I spoke with Allen over the phone, very nice and polite, He stated that he himself doesn't know to much about carb. engines but he has a mechanic who does, the Diagnostic would cost 95.00. So without any delay I called for a wrecker and had my vehicle towed to Holly tire & Auto Service Inc. I spoke to the Mechanic first hand. I told him exactly what was going on, when and how the symptoms started.

3 days later (today) I get a call from Allen, he said they ran a dry compression test on cylinders 5-8 (driver side only) , and I had "0" compression, also my carb would need rebuilt which was a no brainer. THEN they would add oil to my cylinders to get the back the compression, .. now this is where it starts to get interesting, adding oil will always give you a boost of compression, but in their reasoning Allen stated that my Piston rings are flooded with gas and oil would free it up, As much as I think this is "BS" and only a ploy to bleed me dry, this process should have been done during the diagnostic to ALL the cylinders no matter what which is call a wet compression test. The Job total would cost 540. and some change with NO Guarantee that it would run. in their Diagnostics, it was basically exactly what I told the mechanic what was wrong. they never did the the compression on cylinders 1-4 (passenger side) or even a wet compression to complete the diagnosis or find the exact problem. so in a nutshell, im being charged 95.00 for them to stare at it, repeat everything I said back to me, without a conclusion and start the actual diagnostics with a hourly rate of 75.00 with a trial and error attitude, or a different way of looking at it is I am getting a rebuilt carb for 540. when a rebuilt kit costs less then 25.00 and only takes less then 2 hrs to rebuild. Now I know this for fact, when dealing with older cars or all cars for that fact, you need to run a Complete wet/ dry compression to ALL cylinders when little or no compression is a problem or concern. Why? because it could be a valve train / piston ring problem or even more complex that that, but it would give you a great direction as to where to begin repairs.

I was far from happy and refused to pay a 95.00 half-fast diagnosis. With a little aggravation and the mentioning my Attorney, I was able to gain possession of my vehicle without any fees and mutually agreed I would NEVER return!!! I then had the car towed to a more competent auto repair shop.... all with in the same day, the current shop has diagnosed my car and is also began making the repairs. they did their job properly and concluded my timing chain was the cause.
I may have had a aggravating morning but a pleasant afternoon knowing my vehicle is in good hands and well on its way of being repaired. BTW, the costs of my repair is 640.and change.

I will NEVER recommend Holly Tire & Service to anyone I know, like or dislike. they haven't a clue what to do under the hood, shady and over priced. This is not a slam towards a business or retaliation of bad business, this is simply through my experience how this place operates and how business is conducted at Holly Tire & Service. I do not bad-mouth or hide behind the net, but I will definitely NEVER recommend them to change even a valve stem in a tire neither.

1st off we have used Holly Tire several times over the 5 years we have lived here and believed they gave us good service at a fair price. On Friday, 20 November my wife droppd off her 04 Stratus because the blower motor stopped working. I was pretty sure it was the resistor which is a quick and cheap fix. We were informed that not only was the resistor bad but the wiring harness was completely corroded and the cost to fix this was $380. I was shocked. I wanted to believe that they were telling me the truth because they had given us good service in the past. Well I had to see this formyself because I just knew that something was not right so we paid the $80.00 diagnostic charge and took the car home. I took the resistor out and inspected the entire harness (took less than 5 minutes to do) and found NO evidence of ANY corrosion on the harness. Bought the $30.14 resistor and the blower works Great! The entire process took less than 10 minutes (minus the trip to the auto parts store). Now I understand their labor costs and mark-up on parts and was more than willing to pay 150-200 for this repair. Because they wanted to soak me for a part that was in perfect condition and jack the price by $200 I will never use them again and am sorry to anyone else that I have referred to them who may have been scammed. It's just sad that there are people who take advantage of others. Oh I forgot to mention that they told my wife that she needed new brakes, rotors, control arm and an oil change... My question is why were they even looking at these items when we never asked them to... and these issues are not even remotely close to the blower motor which is under the glove box. Needless to say my wife has been very upset because she had complete trust in these guys.

This is written in response to the poor reviews posted here.

Two of these posts are from people that never contacted our shop with any questions or concerns. This leads me to believe these are from competing shops or someone else that would be out to damage our reputation.

The review about the stripped drain plug hole is a situation that I am aware of. This situation has been resolved and the customer has been back for service again, her name is Stacy G.

We have been in business here in Holly for nearly 20 years. We have thousands of satisfied customers. Some people will say anything when they are anonymous.

I welcome any prospective customer to either come by and see our facility or call and ask for me, Allan. I am the owner and am here most of the time 248-634-9011. I can answer any question that you may have.

Thank you

Stripped my drain plug hole on my oil pan. Owner will not face up to the fact that his facilty did it and will not cover the cost of a new pan. This willcost me about $1000 to get fixed. Avoid Holly tire and Auto !!!

I was shopping for tires for my vehicle and stopped in here well I was pricing. I was astounded at the fact that they completely ignored me the only female in the store and helped all the male customers until I pointed out I had been waiting forever. Then they were rude. The prices were somewhat high but even if they were cheap they can keep their tires!
