Ruiz tacos are their thing. Something like a pound of seasoned beef, plenty of shredded cheese and lettuce and tomato, all stuffed into a fried "pillow" taco. Come hungry, be ready for a crowd at lunch. Super-Nachos are my favorite, but you just can't go wrong with a Ruiz. Also, make sure you have cash. They don't take credit, and only take bills $20 and under.

Pros: Food (no, seriously, try it)

Cons: Payment options

The Ruiz tacos are the size of a ladies' evening bag. I think it's a pound of ground beef, or it used to be. Woof!

For friendlier service, and great Huevos Rancheros or scrambled eggs with nopalitos, try El Rancho Grande, 3-4 miles further up Michigan on the left just before the ramp to I-675.

Authentic is an over-used term to describe Mexican restaurants, but this place is the real deal. Can be crowded at lunch time. Off hours are best. Ruiz bean taco is terrific. Nachos are generally not something I order when eating out, but these are very good. Cheese and onion enchiladas are good too. Fresh made chips and salsa.
