I came across a review of Dr. Michael Schaeffer on this site and it swayed me to try him as my new doctor. Biggest mistake ever. My first visit I couldn't find the office and was on hold for 37 minutes waiting for someone to pick up to help me. I finally found it and was signing in when one of the receptionists grudgingly picked up the line and offered a weak sorry about that. I got that treatment almost everytime I called there. Anyway, when the doctor finally came in he had an intern in tow which I agreed to but he was so busy tapping away on his laptop I don't feel he really listened to half my complaints. His main issue was my blood pressure which was understandably high considering I had been looking for his office for 45 minutes. He ordered blood work for me and sent me on my way. The following day after the bloodwork, I got a 10 minute glowing report on my voicemail on how perfect my blood work came back. I called him back and instead of acknowledging the original symptoms I came to him for he suggested I give it a little while and make another appointment if I didn't feel better. Three weeks later after I researched my symptoms(and a new doctor) on every site I could find when I could stay awake(original complaint) I then developed a raging headache. I called Dr. Schaeffer's office(no choice really) and made another appointment. Informed him of the research I had done and suggested maybe I should try an anti depressant since depression symptoms mirrored much of what I was feeling. I was desperate to try anything at that point just to feel better. Once I mentioned the headache he at least got off his duff and ordered a ct scan for me which led me down to the road to the point I am at now...3 weeks post HYDROCEPHALUS surgery! I was a ticking bomb! Sure wish I had known this for the 3 weeks Dr. Schaeffer left me to get better on my own!! I realize there is protocol doctors must follow for proper diagnosis and for dealing with insurance companies but I am viciously disappointed in the lack of care I received from him. He or noone from his office have even bothered to follow up with me and he knew I had surgery as he had to fill out my release form. Evidently he is too busy to handle new patients and I wish the receptionist had told me no when I asked if he was accepting new patients. He may have been a great doctor in his old establishment but in his newer bigger office, not so much! My advice to you... FIND SOMEONE ELSE...SOMEONE WHO WILL LISTEN AND PUT THE DAMN LAPTOP DOWN LONG ENOUGH TO LOOK YOU IN THE EYE AND LISTEN TO YOU!

Dr. Schaeffer is the best doctor I have ever had. I recently moved to Tennessee and wish I could have brought him with me. He's extremely professional, polite, informative and helpful.

This office is very good. They are friendly from the moment you enter til you exit. They are quick on the phone to answer your questions or call in a perscription. Never sit and wait more than 15 minutes during a schedualed appointment. Dr Schaeffer is very good at explaining and covering all the basis. Makes sure you understand everything also. Would recommend this office to everyone.
