Old Village Cafe

Frankly, I don't even know whether the food is good or not. This business emplyed an illegal alien who had been in the country for 12 years, used various aliases and now very likely may be tried for 2nd degree murder of a police officer.

Apparently, Old Village Cafe does not bother to check valid ID/legal status -- did they check whether this "cook" had any qualifications as a food handler? What social security number was he using? A stolen one? A fraudlent one? What social security number were his checks issued out under? Or did they just pay him under the table? I find Old Village's motives/means in whom it employs questionable. I would not patronize a business that obviously did not bother to check/investigate this individual's legal status/right to work in the United States. Everytime I see a situation like this, I will call out the guilty party. It's time to start enforcing laws against businesses that don't do background checks to determine someone's legal residency status. Hire a QUALIFIED AMERICAN. Pay him/her a PROPER WAGE.

You cant beat the Old Village Caf for a quick, inexpensive, great weekend breakfast. Though its small inside, and the tables are close together, and you often have to wait awfully close to other waiting patrons, the service is quick and the food is worth the wait.

The menu is reminiscent of a coney island menu with breakfast all the time, and a plethora of different sandwiches and easy entres. The food is all cooked within sight, behind the barstool counter, and its cooked quickly and as requested. The restaurant has recently extended its hours to include dinner, and has also recently started accepting credit cards.

If youre driving by, dont let the crowd deter you. It moves quickly and before you know it, youll be enjoying good, quality, inexpensive food (go for the breakfast, its my favorite!).

PROS: Quick, quality service
CONS: Very small inside
