Went here for my birthday with a large group and we had a blast. The food was absolutly out of this world. I had the Champion House special which had lobster (best ive ever had) filet, and shrimp along with fried rice and veggies. The portions are huge but somehow we didnt have any left overs. I'll be going back there again soon.

The Hibachi chefs are much more entertaining here than we have experienced in other cities. The service was prompt. Our Teriyaki Chicken and Filet Mignon were among the best we've ever had. We found the prices here to be much more affordable than at other Japanese restaurants. Three of us ate for under $75.00 (2 filet mignon and 1 teriyaki chicken). I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food in an entertaining setting with affordable prices.

Pros: Best steak and chicken we've had at a Japanese restaurant

We had a fantastic surprise birthday dinner for our 12 year old son and six of his friends at Champion House. The food was wonderful, and the manager, chef and wait staff were very entertaining and attentive. The boys were captivated with the skill of the chef and the delicious food. We all enjoyed a very special birthday dinner and celebration and look forward to bringing a group of boys again when our younger son is a little older.

Champion House has the best Japanese food I have had in awhile. The new management has done a great job with the restaurant. It seems to be going through more renovations, but in time, it will be one of the best in Ann Arbor. Can't beat the food, and the prices are very reasonable. Might want to make reservations for big groups on weekends or holidays.

Champion House is kind of overrated. It's definitely not the best food in town, especially for the money. Hibachi is always fun for big groups, but it gets old. The service is weird and so is the decor, it just doesn't make sense. We only went for the Japanese side, but there is a Chinese side too (which was closed for renovations when we went).

In response to the second review: you must be out of your mind. For business in the process of transfering ownership, give it time. As far as I know, the "kid" that owned the place in 2006 knows nothing about business. The new owners are professional, they changed all the staff, which gave you bad service. They are gonna make it all Japanese steakhouse, so be patient. Its gonna be the hottest restaurant in town. Things have already improved as i notice: new signs, new glassware, new plates...
we love it, and we will return with more people.

We have not been to the restaurant in quite awhile and were excited to go back tonite; however, were very disappointed. We sat for 15 mins before my dh got up to find us a server. Someone came over and greeted us w/ "you ready to order"? : (

Our food was brought out at different times, by a different server and placed in front of the wrong person. Food was different than it used to be. We found it to be very bland. 15 mins later, someone else came out to bring us our bill and we weren't done eating!

We had a coupon from an entertainment book, which the new owner does not honor! "New owner"?!!! That explained ALOT! This place will not survive the ownership change if they don't "up" their customer service and food quality. We will not be returning! Too bad...the previous owner was awesome...he was super friendly, always welcomed everyone, made the rounds to tables to make sure all was great, had servers that kept your beverages filled and table clean....He could've taught this new guy a thing or two for sure.

Don't waste an evening in Ann Arbor at this place...too many other good ones to go to!

Divided into two halves, Chinese and Japanese. On the Japanese side you sit in front of the grill and they will cook whatever you want for you. It's pretty cool.
The Chinese side is your normal analog restaurant.
