First off The Vet is all about " YOUR PET " and he tells you what your pet can't, I have been taking my furkids to him not because he makes me all warm and fuzzy but because he cares about the pet. He helped me enjoy the last month's of my English Bulldog's " Guido " life and he and his staff worked like the devil to try and save my American Bulldog " Rockie's " life when he suffered a heart attack , and as I type this he is with my latest rescue AB "Curly" in surgery to correct his knees , If your looking for a vet that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy this isn't the place, but if you want the best your there like I tell folks he is the Dr House of pets
I have not been taking my cat to Dr. Meadows long but when he had to give us the news that she may have cancer, I thought HE was going to cry. That proves how much he cares. I LOVE his staff they are kind and understanding and totally work with me, especially when it comes time for the dreaded bill. I love that I can count on the whole group for top notch care of my furry family members. Way to wow me guys thanks!
We used to go to the North River Animal Hospital. When our dog broke her leg, Dr. Meadows was the emergency vet on call. He was just starting out, behind the humane society. We've never turned back. Bart is the most fantastic vet. Any time day or night, he's been there for our animals. We've recommended many people to him, and none have been disappointed. He goes above and beyond when it comes to the care of his furry clients, to say he is passionate about his career is an understatement. We admire him as a person, and as a vet. We have our dog in his care right now, and his updates are thorough, compassionate, and professionally given. If you are looking for the best, Animal Hospital of Lakeport is your best bet! Thank-you Dr. Meadows, and your wonderful staff.
We wouldn't trust any other vet with our animals!! We are very pleased with the care, the prices, and the staff! It is very obvious that Dr. Meadows cares very much for animals and their well being! Everyone is always very friendly and we have had nothing but great experiences with Dr. Meadows and his staff!
OMG!!! If I had taken my dogs to anyone else they would be dead my now. One of my dogs have many medical problems and is living a happy, comfortable life thanks to Doc. Meadows and Staff. They know how much this dog means to me and are ALWAYS there for us 24/7. There is no other Animal Hospital like this. I have gone by the hospital in the wee hours of the mornng and Doc's car was there. While many were home comfy in their beds, he was there caring for someones sick or hurt animal. They truly care for every animal they see. I will never go anywhere else and as for the cost of their care, whom ever said they were costly have never had vet care in the Metro Detroit area where it cost $95.00 just for a rabbies shot and office call for my other dog. Doc Meadows and staff are the greatest. Thank you for all your help and care of my animals.
In regard to Dr. Meadows bedside manner, who are you there for anyway yourself or your animal? I happen to absolutely love Dr. Meadows. I have two pets with special needs and I couldn't ask for a more compassionate veterinarian. I drive almost an hour to take them there. He goes above and beyond, more than I can say about my local vet. Please check your priorities.
I have taken my pets to Dr. Meadows for 12 years. Initially, I went because I heard he stayed up for two consecutive nights keeping a friend's dog alive after a car hit it (the dog survived). I have always found him to be patient. He has answered ALL questions (and I have a lot). I was at lunch with a group of ladies and heard one complain Dr. Meadows wouldn't put her dog down. She said he told her that her dog was healthy and he wouldn't put down a healthy dog for someone who found their pet to be "inconvenient". I was happy to know I had chosen a good vet. He loves the dogs and his staff is outstanding and patient. In all these years, aside from the one lady at lunch, I have only heard great things about him. He has stepped up to help animals in need (as evidenced by the rotating group of animals who reside in the hospital who I imagine are there until the hospital has found a home for them). I think an owner who abuses their pets, or consistently puts their own needs before the animal's will have a problem. Then, I suppose, they may experience a little impatience.
Our Family, use to have another Clinic that I took all our pets to;Cats,Dogs, litters of Puppies...the care and treatment of THE OTHER was so- so. Since we have switched I have noticed great differences in quality of pet care. Dr.Meadows, and all the Staff are the best at what they do, they do work with your budget and is not outrageous or unreasonable for their services as our other vet, that we could no longer afford. Our Comment -you have to be a responsible pet owner and do your share too, maybe the doctor (pertaining to the negative posting)was feeling the animal's suffering and he had great compassion, so it angered him to see it suffer. The Doctor is most caring far from the untrueful post, about him not caring and being heartless. Do take the time and check out this Animal Clinic and their wonderful caring Staff! I too, make a long drive but a short drive doesn't ensure you will have the best care for your pet. My Dogs, at last visit had no stress, while at the Clinic, and traveling to and from were at total peace, no shedding, and content and happy, before and after getting their shots..the clinic has no odors and is neat, clean, and proficient with every aspect of billing, and with what I wanted, and the transferring of our pets to this clinic.....our dogs actually enjoyed being there.....it doesn't get any better than that.....YOU ROCK DR. MEADOWS AND STAFF!........Mrs. S and family
I have something to say about Kathy H.'s review in January of 2007. Dr. Meadows is an extremely wonderful veterinarian, he really truly cares about the animlas that he treats, and I love how he goes out of his way to help people. I know that Dr. Meadows takes emergency calls quite frequently and he even comes in for people at all times of the night.
Dr. Meadows would never tell someone that their dog has cancer unless he truly believes it to be true. He doesn't like to see animals suffer and wants what is best for the animals.
I took my cat to Dr. Meadows because one day she somehow got infested with maggots. He told us we could either cut off her tail or put her to sleep since the infestation was so severe and she was so old. She is 21! He saw how heartbroken we were about the idea of putting her to sleep and he said that he would try his best to keep her alive. He even cut us a deal on the prices. I would reccomend him to anyone. He is caring and very affectionate to the animals. He also explains in detail what is wrong with the animal and what will have to be done. My cat is still alive and is doing better. I will go back to him again.
Dr.Meadows has always treated our dog (and our previous dog) and we have found him to be extremely competent. We trust his judgment. I absolutely do not agree with the comments about his demeanor, that he is cold or unkind. We have always had a very positive experience and have never found him to be rude or unkind. I would give Dr. Bart the highest recommendation.
I started going to this vet about 2 years ago, with my new dog. A family friend has been going to his for many of there dogs and said he was great and a great prices too. I love that when the dog/ cat just needs to get updated shots, they just take your pet back give them the shot and bring them back out. Without my pet seeing the Dr. every time, makes the visits so much cheaper, especially since I'm a student in college and don't have much money. I find that this Animal Hospital is WAY better in prices, than the Vet. Associates in Port Huron, since my other family pets still go there. I dislike going to that vet very much, because they are Rude and very expensive. Seems like every time i go to them i walk out spending a couple hundred (V. A) I would Deffinently. would recommend this Doctor and just the Hospital. Great Place=]
Our regular vet sent us to Dr. Meadows when they thought he needed surgery. They said he was the best. He is a little stand offish to the people but he is very kind to the animals. I would much rather have a vet that is concerned about my pet than one that is concerned about my feelings. With that being said he makes sure we understand everything that is going on and takes a great deal of time explaining everything. He is not fast to operate but tries other avenues first. We would go to him for every problem our pet has. He is very kind to animals.
I have been a long time customer of Dr. Meadows though at times he may seem harsh he does what is best for the animals...He doesnt like owners that come in and have waited to long to treat something...this does bother him and yes he might be ticked off nor does he like to ever put animals down this we know from expeirence. but never have i seen him be cruel to animal or actually to a human as some may say. IT took months for my mom to find a great vet to treat our ferretsand other pets and ever since then we have been customers if you dont know him very well then you might not like what he has to say but he is a great vet and i will always be a customer
A good friend recommend Dr. Meadows. I am very glad we took our dog to him! He is very patient and kind. He spent time explaining the procedure my dog needed. He was very thorough in explaining the procedure and post operative care my dog needed. He talked with me about the hip problem he found my dog has. He showed me the x-rays and offered suggestions on what we can do. When we picked our dog up after surgery he explained everything to my daughter. The staff is very kind and helpful. We drive an hour to see him and his prices are very reasonable. He's great with pets and owners!
I needed help for my dog. I was told in advance that this place was expensive and the Veterinarian was kind to animals but very abrupt and rude to humans. I took him there anyway. He very coldly informed me that he was sure the dog had cancer, he acted like I was just too much trouble to talk to. He even yelled at me at one point (I said the dog got sick right after eating some deer organs someone dumped on our property) he said "well, your husband said it was a week later and I believe him! He didn't want to wait until we could pick him up but said he wouldn't discharge him on a Wednesday either! Finally, my husband and sister drove there and the cold hearted doctor convinced them to put him to sleep. It could have waited until I had a chance to say goodbye to him and spend a few minutes with him the following morning. This may be a very good animal doctor (yes, expensive, too) but he needs to understand that these animals are like children to us and work on being kinder! His cold hearted attitude made the whole thing even more horrible! He never even said he was sorry to tell me the bad news or give condolences of any kind. Dr. Meadows, it is my opinion that you are a very good doctor but a very unkind, coldhearted individual. I wouldn't recommend you to my worst enemy! I never even got to kiss his beautiful head and say goodbye! Shame on you!!
I used to just go to the cheapest or the closest vet, but when I took my cat, Gir, to Doc Meadows I finally found someone to stick with! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the Doc certainly knows his stuff! He is very nice and treats every animal as if it were his own. I would gladly pay a little more to ensure my animals receive the best possible care and I'm happy to know that's what they're getting with Doc Meadows!!
PROS: Extra care for my babies and a friendly atmosphere
CONS: Lots of Vet Techs but only one vet....but I'd only go to him anyway. ^.^
I was very disappointed with the care and service that I recieved when I took my cat here. Their prices were extremely high compared to everyone else in town and I felt that the doctor was very shady in his practices. They ended up doing a lot of unauthorized procedures on our pet and we were charged for them all even though we never ok'd it. When we questioned them, we were made to feel like we did something wrong. I will never again use them for anything related to my animals needs.
