Good vet. Very caring.....both (Fish/Ransom) gets right down on the floor with your dog to figure things out. I've been to vets that didn't bend over to look at my dog. Sure....vets are expensive but they price match all meds.....I've left meds there, ran home and printed out Internet pricing, returned to the office and they've matched pricing. Dr. Ransom is very laid back with appointments but very thorough. Has been very generous with exam costs after my dogs surgery. It cost way less then the estimate the MI Speciality and Oakland Specialty clinics.

We had an issue with our Dog that required immediate medical attention. Lucky enough for us, we were able to catch the doctor's prior to leaving their office at 7:00 pm on a Saturday. When I called they listened patiently as I explained what the problems were with my dog and how we weren't sure what we needed to do. Five minutes after I called and explained the situation, Dr. Ransom insisted that we bring our pet over to her office immediately where she assessed the situation and explained all of our options. Because our dog had a very severe laceration on his paw, she knew stitches would be necessary to put the skin back in place. By the time we left the vet that night it was 11:00 p.m. My dogs foot was fixed and they saved me close to $700.00 because the refused to send me to the emergency vet, even though it really was a big issue.

I like this vet office. They are a little laid back but this can be helpful because they really try to accommodate their clients schedules. Also one reviewer stated that they didn't care for the fact that cats were walking around. As a cat lover this is one thing I really appreciated and loved about this vet office. I liked seeing the cats and shouldn't a vet clinic have a few office pets? As far as dogs not liking it, when cats are not welcome they know how to make themselves scarce.

I have been going to north oaks for many years, Dr Ransom, yes is kind of slow, but she makes sure you understand exactly what is going on. if your pet needs surgery or a dental or anything of the sort she will sit there and go over the exact cost of everything. If you are in a hurry all you have to do is state that and she can be very quick. Also if you need to leave and she feels that there is more she wants to go over with you she will call you at home at your convince. She once even gave me her personal cell number so i could call her with questions. The techs are always very nice and help me out with as many questions they are able to answer. As for the receptions they always help to get you in as soon as you need to and greet you very warmly. On the other hand... i ask not to see Dr. Fish, though both doctors are married, they are completely different. I have been in the office as he is throwing what seems to be a 2 year old temper tantrum. Walking through the office screaming very rotten things (i was told after ward by one of the techs who apologized to me that he was on the phone with someone) I don't know how anyone could put up with him. Besides for him North Oaks Animal Hospital is a great place to take your animals. They will be truly loved!!

this is the best husband wife team of doctors. they each have their own style, dr fish is quicker to the point and a good surgeon while dr ransom is slower but more informative and an excellent dentist. i have 3 animals who have all gone to north oaks all their lives and received excellent care. I would recommend them highly.

I have also been going to north oaks for years and i ask for dr fish because he is quick and to the point. dr ransom is .very thorough but she can go on and on and i have things to do. dr fish has been nothing but professional with my pets and i would trust him implicitly. dr ransom is great too but i don't always have time for a veterinary education. i guess to each their own.

Not only are the vets at this pace warm and caring they make my dog feel comfortable and cared for. Every other vet I've taken my dog to hates the doctor but he loves going to NOAH. I love the fact that the vets there remember who you are and address you personally. I purchased vitamin supplements for a very good price that helped my dogs bones recover from a car accident. the price was very acceptable and the medicine was top notch. I don't understand where these people are coming from saying NOAH is not top of the line.

I will never take any of my animals here again after going. This place didn't meet my expectations for a Clarkston vet. I would never recommend them to anyone. I personally saw the doctor for maybe five minutes.
Cats were walking everywhere. My dog didn't like that. Assistance personal didn't know what she was talking about. Didn't wear gloves. They do things w/o your knowledge then you pay for it later.
Plan on staying at least an hour when you take your pets here. Plan on spending money and more money for the things they are going to tell you your animal needs x-rays and all kinds of things to nickel and dime you.
And plan on it that your going to want to find another vet.
I myself have found a VERY good vet in Bloomfield that doesn't over charge, very reasonable price. Fast service, very caring and nice people.

After reading the many reviews, it seems like everyone is completely divided on this vet. So this is my attempt at an objective review of North Oaks Animal Hospital. I've taken our dogs there three times, and every time our service has been reasonable. Yes, each appointment did take awhile (about an hour), but it depends on what kind of tests they have to run on your animal. Many people commented on how the vets really seemed to care about your animal, and it does seem like they do. They get on the floor and pet them, talk to them and are very hands on. But with that, you have to expect that you're going to end up waiting a little longer because they're going to give every animal that kind of attention, which takes time. They know that appointments take awhile, so they do offer an option of you dropping off your dog and coming back later to pick it up for no fee. They call it the "drop and shop". But, if you're a super busy person and don't really care if the vet gets down to eye level with your dog, then this probably isn't the place for you.
As for cost, it was reasonable and less expensive for heart worm medication than my previous vet. Plus, if you live a little out of the area (we live in Sterling Heights) you get a 10% discount on everything. I've never had them try to force me to buy anything, or nickel and dime me. Overall, a reasonable vet.

Most complain about cost but I just feel sorry for those who write that feel they must be gauged in order to receive good care...especially here where the care is subpar and the assistance low-end. Really they are more concerned with upselling unnecessary services and products - like a used car salesman. I can't write about the vets...never met them because they were never available!! I have met any number of the staff's children who interfere with my subpar service because they need attention, not to be held hostage at a vet's office! Stay away from this office if you, your pet, your time and your money are valuable!

I had to put my 1 year old cat to sleep. They had not seen a case like my pet's before. But, they were honest and stated that fact. I could truly tell that putting my cat down was one of the hardest things they had to do. I felt that they loved him as much as I did. That made it easier for me. The pain is still there but I know that I am not the only one missing him. They do care about all pets that come there. Their prices may be high but my pets deserve the best. You do have to wait for the doctor to see you, but if you were to go to your doctor, you have to wait for them to see you also. I will continue to go there and get the care neede for my pets.

Dr. Ransom was there for us when our dog died, not only helping us to deal with the loss, but followed up a few weeks later to see how we were doing. Look in the yellow pages if you want to find a cheap vet, but you'll get what you pay for. I would highly recommend Dr. Ransom to anyone who loves their pet.

I went to North Oaks because a cat had a tooth hanging loose. I was told a dental was $165 plus medicine costs. Okay, you would think that they would include the anesthesia cost in with the $165, are they going to clean a cats teeth while it is awake? Anyways, after the cleaning and 2 extractions (I was told the teeth were very loose to begin with), it cost $461. For a cat denta!! Absolutely ridiculous. They nickel and dimed everything, charged by the minute to clean teeth. Said they had to xray mouth to see if loose tooth had root problems, then later told me the teeth were extremely loose, so why xray to see the root if the tooth is almost falling out. I never saw the vet, just dealt with two different techs when I dropped her off and picked her up. I left with a bitter taste in my mouth and found a much better vet who did a dental on my second cat for $75 (and that included anesthesia). 2 of my neighbors also had bad experiences at this place. Plan to spend big bucks if you go here. These reviews should warn you, we aren't all wrong.

I would not take my animals to this place at all. There is always a long long wait and the doctors are not there when you need them. They have ridiculous prices-many way too high than other vets.
