It would be very helpful if we were able to identify the person who wrote this review so we could respond to them directly. One of the disadvantages of ratings on the internet is that people can damage a business so badly and so unjustly without giving the business a chance to defend themselves. We have been renting pontoon boats for more than 10 years and have built a customer base of many happy repeat customers. We keep our boats clean and well maintained. It only pleases us when our rental customers have the best possible experience and it distresses us greatly when someone has a bad experience. I would not be happy either if I rented a boat, damaged it and had a much more expensive day then I planned on. But whether the damage was totally accidental or done by carelessness, I would know it was my responsibility. We do a very thorough check out with each and every rental customer including going over the entire boat to note any existing damage. The customers sign a rental agreement that includes acceptance of responsibility for any damages and the right to note any existing damage. I don't know who this person is who searched out every possible place to write a review so I don't know what damages they were charged for. When a boat is damaged and a customer is charged we do everything within our power to keep the charges as low as possible including reducing and often eliminating the actual labor charges. We have received many compliments verbally and in writing on the conduct of our staff and the rental experience. It is just not possible to please some people and those are usually the ones who will slam you on the internet. Charlotte Schiller Klave's Marina

Absolutely terrible experience. Will never use this marina again. The manager was very unprofessional and unreasonable. The counter staff was rude when we got there. The manager was not willing to listen to facts and instead used hearsay and conjecture to accuse us of damaging a boat during a rental. He cannot provide any proof that we caused the damage. Cannot prove it wasn't damaged when we took it out. But is still completely accusatory that we had to have damaged it even though we provided reasonable evidence that the damage happened before the rental. The expectation is NOT clearly written or well-defined and instead they expect the customer to assume what they request them to know without having it clearly written down or explained. That is not professional behavior. Then he wants to overcharge us for a part that he isn't having replaced and won't provide documentation for the cost. This amounts to him making a profit by charging us for the repair. Completely ridiculous and I will not go back. WARNING: if you plan to use this marina to rent anything, take a blank piece of paper and write down every little imperfection because they will charge you even if it's not your fault, but if you don't document it and they charge you, well you're just supposed to know better. According to their manager.
