The Cherryland Mall/Center area has always been a decent one for shopping, particularly for Tom's, Sears, and K-Mart. When the Grand Traverse Mall opened in 1992, it pulled a lot of stores away with it, and those that stayed didn't last. I always preferred Cherryland, as it wasn't congested, had an arcade with a big screen cabinet and whatever fighting game was new, a nice Waldenbooks, and so on. It had an air about it that the GT Mall doesn't. It's odd to think that the mall failed without losing any of it's anchor stores. These days, the only remnant of the Cherryland Mall aside from the anchors is a lone hallway directly next to K-Mart.

I've been trying in vain for the past several days to pull up any and all pictures of the former Cherryland Mall online. If anyone has pictures from the mall's heyday and could post them online, that'd be fantastic. In particular, I'd like to see pics of the water fountain that was in front of Pranges/Younkers, as well as storefronts throughout.

I really like what they have done with the Cherryland Center. The Mall of my youth has been totally transformed! It is very easy to pull in and get what you need now. Payless, Kmart, and Bath and Body works are my favorite. It's nice to be able to run into the store and not have to hike to it in the mall. It is also nice to be able to walk around outside in the summer, not so much in the winter!

This is a good mall to visit. I love to go to Younkers. They have such great deals. You can stop and pick up dinner at Toms on your way home. If you want someone else to cook for you, there is a great mexican place across the street.
