This upscale seafood, steak and sushi house boasts an extensive menu of Creole and classic American fare, including prime steaks and chops, fresh fish, pastas and daily specials. In Short
The sound of jazz resonates as the smell of Cajun spices seduces incoming diners. The food is straight out of the French Quarter, as catfish atchafalaya, snapper beausoleil, alligator voodoo and Bayou caviar bring Louisiana flavor to Michigan. Fishbone's uses a milder, more flavorful blend of spices and herbs during the blackening process, but hot sauces are available to please those in search of heat.

Unprofessional Bar Staff

by K G.

After visiting for the Final Four games, I will NEVER visit this Fishbone's again. I have visited the one in St. Clair Shores multiple times and loved everything, and expected the same from this one. However after a while of watching the game, the bartenders came over and said "Here's your tip" which we found out from someone else was that he thought we tipped $0.75 on a $40 bar tab. We never even had a bar tab! I paid cash for each round and tipped. This was very unprofessional and not acceptable in my book for how a bartender at a nice restaurant should act. Even if that had been true they wouldn't have deserved a tip, since a tip is earned. Then to top that off as we walked out the door to leave one of the other bartenders ran out after us and called us inappropriate names. We don't even know the reasoning behind their actions because he ran back inside and they all refused to talk with us. Which means they know that we did nothing wrong in reality since they wouldn't discuss their issues with us. Wouldn't go back if you paid me unless those bartenders were fired.

Fishbones

by Teresa F. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 284

This is a great Detroit Restaurant that is attached to the Greektown Casino. Specializing in seafood, they have a huge sushi menu, along with wonderful shrimp and fish items and sandwiches as well. We had a great waitress and a good experience, would recommend highly.

by brett r. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,123

This place is very good. Its in the greektown area.It has a very good staff but it takes a little while for your food to arrive cause its usually pretty busy there. A great selection of food to choose from and the atmosphere is incredible. If you dont like to wait then dont go here. Walk to one of the other restaurants in the area.

Nice restuarant in Greektown

by Mary ann T. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 386

This is a very nice place to eat when visiting Greektown downtown.
Service is slow so dont be in a rush if that is where you are going to eat but the food is great.
A little bit of everything, prices are not too high.

Now this is a good place to eat! I have been there several times and have always been pleased. The food is more than great! Our latest trip was for our daughters 19th birthday in Dec., but I can't wait to go back. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing. Parking is easy

Down hill.. not like it used to be.

by VguptaIsGay

This place has gone WAY WAY down hill from its former glory days years ago. Service was terrible, the food was bland, and sloppy, and those fun plates of various hot sauces.. all gone.. I would never go back, and our entire party left with thoughts of "thats it?" and "that was terrible".

Avoid.. its not the Fishbone's it used to be.

Pros: Location is good

Cons: Food was bland, prices high, service SLOW

Great meal and kid friendly

by NoahStein2008

I've been there two times over the past year and both times it was better than average. n Thursday night, I went with my family. Although it wasn't packed with kids it was most certainly 'kid friendly'. Very reasonably priced kid's menu. As for my meal, Ahi tuna, it was prepared perfectly(rare) and was of very high quality. Overall it was an enjoyable dining experience and I will definitely go back again.

Guilty pleasure

by WillYun

After sampling our Catfish Atchafalaya and our lemonades, we felt the quality matched the price. We were seated very quickly, and were able to get in and out in plenty of time to catch our movie. We were especially amused by the HUGE jumbo shrimp, and tickled to see how well it tasted! I highly recommend this eatery.

Fun restaurant for a night out...

by jilson

...but the food was just fair. The place was PACKED (altho it was a Saturday night), and we had reservations. But they couldn't find them initially, and we had to wait for the entire party (13 of us), and when the entire party arrived we had to wait an additional 15 minutes.

Our waitress was good, and our food was also good. Many of us ordered fish dishes , and I must say the sushi rolls were just fair (Sushi House in Farmington is the best!) Overall it was a good dining experience, I would recommend going on a different night than Saturday.

Pros: fun for a night out, good food

Cons: BUSY, long wait

Incredible Customer Service, best place to eat in Detroit

by mj11113

Me and my wife went downtown on 8/20/07 and it was incredibly busy. We made reservations and were escorted to our seats as soon as we walked in. There was also a wait to be seated for patrons that just had walked in.

Our server (I believe her name was Lindsey) was incredible jovial and informed us on everything we've asked and even suggested the soup of the day which was outstanding. We were extremely impressed with the customer service, because even though it was busy, our dinner was seamless. We ordered three courses, and literally, our entree was at our table minutes after our salads were cleared. Same with desert. I mean the servers there are really on top of their game. I checked out the sushi bar before our appetizers were delivered and I spoke with another server about the selection. He was informative and definitely had full knowledge of what he was talking about (I know because I run a sushi restaraunt). Lindsey was definitely one of the nicest servers I've ever seen, and it seemed effortless to her because she had 4 other tables and was extremely busy the entire night.

The decor was beautiful, especially the waterfall and enourmous fishtank. The food is just amazing. You really can't go wrong with anything. My wife got the Shrimp Creole and I ate the Filet. The were cooked to perfection. This is definitely the best place to eat downtown. The service, food, atmosphere are all incredible. Definitely a 5 star place to eat.

Pros: Amazing customer service, Delcious food, gorgeous decor, fun atmosphere

Cons: None. This place is outstanding.

Good Choice

by craigorie

Thank You Fishbones - for accomodating us and adverting a disaster
Everyone enjoyed the food and service
Thanks --------------

Read Below
To Whom it may Concern,

We booked reservations at "THEY SAY" restaurant
on approx. July 16th for a party of ten.
On July 28th we called back and confirmed and increased our head count to 16.
We arrived for our 4:30 reservation at 4:10. And was informed that there was no reservation for us.
Our party of 16 was informed that we could be served on the patio, which was in the sweltering sun.

We were given no sensible excuse for the restaurants cancellation ,and was left to find other accommodations without any notice , with 16 people in tow.

The planned celebration was for our son, who is in the Air Force and is being deployed overseas.
The entire experience was disrespectful to say the least.
And just basically BAD BUSINESS.

Pros: Sundays are cool

Cons: unsure at this time

Please Beware, Poor Service and Very Unsanitary

by jessica1201

My husband and I are Tiger Season Ticket holders and because of the resturant's great location we frequent this place quite a bit. However, twice we have had terrible experiences with the poor staff work ethics. Our latest experience was on 4/21/07 when my husband and I placed ourselves at the bar side closest to the water fall. I ordered a glass of water and a slice of cheese cake with strawberry dressing. After thirty minutes I asked the bartender (Cherry) if she could cancel our order. She replied that she would and that she apologized for the wait. I proceeded to watch the Red wings game on the tv and sip my water. As I was nearing the end of the glass I couldn't help but notice an orange white ring of film lining the inside of my glass, which made it apparent the glass had never been cleaned. I was baffled at that point I was thinking (Hep C, or food sickness). My husband said that's it and asked for the manager. The bartender went to get him and then returned walking over to her friends located to the right of me at the bar, whom she had been serving free drinks to all night. She proceeded to say so that I could clearly hear her, "I don't care what they think, and my manager won't either, laughing it off." Twenty minutes later the manager arrived (Tom) and as the bartender expressed to her friends, he didn't act as if he cared at all about the situation. His excat words were, "I am sorry but sometimes we make mistakes also, I mean sir what do you want me to do about this." I
have contacted the Detroit Sanitary Division and filed a complaint. I am thus far happy that I haven't gotten sick. Please beware. This resturant is way overated and has lost all concept of customer appreciation. They have become so arrogant about their ways that they can put a dirty plate/cup/silverware down in front of you and could care less about your safety.

Pros: great location

Cons: poor service, especially managers, very unsanitary

Great Date spot

by knorthjr

A great mix of cujun spices and atmosphere. Always a top pick with me and my sweetheart, it's just a 2 min walk to one of Detroits Casinos and lots of hoppin clubs and bars. Prices are reasonable but sometimes there is a long wait and service can be a little sluggish. But if your in no huury and just want to go out for a great night on the town I highly reccommend Fishbones in Detroit.

Pros: Good food,fun atmosphere

Cons: Slow service

Good Cajun Food

by kee22

I have been to Fishbones several time. I definately like the downtown Detroit location better than their other locations. If you like cajun, this is a pretty decent place to get cajun food. I love their popcorn alligator...it's so good. Overall, I think the food is good.

Pros: Good cajun food

Cons: Service, downtown parking

Food does not make up for the bad service

by litebrownsugar1234

Too many things are going on downtown and service pays for it. Fishbones has food potential but our server had the worse attitude-and everyone at the table knew it. She explained she had to work after the baseball game which was after 11 that night. After putting up with her slamming our plates down with hot food, lying to us about when the sushi bar closes, and nasty facial expression-I had enough and went to the manager.

What is sad is that the food didnt make up for the poor service. A tip if you go to this restaurant make sure you have a helmet onbad attitudes are flying everywhere.

Pros: Nice Ambience, they capture seafood style

Cons: Really bad service.

by truesunn

Make sure to try the seafood stuffed mushrooms. Served in whitesauce, these are the tastiest appetizers I have EVER had! Also, the Blackened Catfish and Crabcakes are EXCELLENT!

For a fun night out, combine dinner at Fishbones and a walk across the street to Greektown Casino!

Tasteless and pricey food

by hadula

While the seating was prompt and the ambience is quite nice too, the food is absolutely worthless. The menu is pricey and I was under the assumption that the entrees would be generously served as the prices were around the $18 to $20 range. This was my second visit to Fishbones and this time with my wife and both of were very disappointed.
The servings were shockingly little and the food was not even comparable to a cajun restaurant experience in the mall.
If you are in Detroit, aviod this place. It may have been good earlier (judging from the reviews of the other members) but it aint good anymore. I had to pay $44 for ordering just two entrees and nothing else. Was among my worst experiences ever.

Pros: Ambience, Prompt seating

Cons: Food Taste, Entree sizes, Ridiculous prices

by rebelryder

My date and I went there last week. the seating was fast and the service was excelent. We had a waitor named Santiago, he was a awesome server on top of things all night long. even after we finished our meal he was still serving us up to twenty minutes later. i left him a almost $20 tip which doesnt happen to often with me. Over all great place to eat, excelent steak.

Pros: great atmosphere, goodparking@casino, good service (rare)

Cons: crowd, little crowded

City's best cajun

by missyallday

Fishbone's has the best cajun food in Detroit. Their shrimp are mouth watering. They are very large and just the right amount of spice to it. Also the french rolls that they give you with the gralic butter is to die for. I would recommend this restuarant to anyone who comes for a visit to my city.

Food = dull

by spidersva

I paid $17.95 for an incredibly boring meal. I was expecting cajun food with the appropriate flavoring; instead I was treated to extremely boring pasta dish (not bad, just boring) and a very uninspiring appetizer. As it is connected to a very nice hotel I expected so much more.

Pros: Ambience

Cons: Bad value, tasteless food
