I've been to The Inn Season Cafe many times over many years. The food is not as good as it used to be and many of the servers are not pleasant or accomodating. Today the server was especially unhelpful... shrugged her shoulders at me like she could care less. My food probably tasted the best but the other three people in my group said their food was barely average. None of the presentations looked appealing, kinda sloppy and dried out.
Never going back.

I always enjoy myself at Inn Season because I can get a table on a busy night. Everything you look for in a vegetarian restaurant is done exceptionally well, and is offered with both vege and vegan needs in mind. I've enjoyed all their yummy dinner specials, especially when Thomas wraps them in philo !! I always order their delicious dark Japanese tea, the house salad, and one of their ever-fabulous desserts. I brought a "date" there for dinner a few weeks ago and he LOVED the middle eastern appetizer plate and his veggie burger. He remarked about the atmosphere, and was "ooh-ing and ahh-ing" over everything that came out of the kitchen. We got there at 5:15 and the food came out "lickety-split." The wait staff was highly attentive as they always are, and by the time we left at 6pm, people were lined up outside the door to get in. I lived in the San Francisco Bay area for 20 years where I ate my fare share of vegetarian meals, and meals in places that featured organic only ingredients. I find Inn Season's "Chef Thomas" to be every bit as innovative, and accommodating and dedicated to quality fresh ingredients as any of the so-called superstar eateries in the nation. For my money, Inn Season is a place worthy of a spot on the national map.

Yum! There were so many options on the menu, drinks too. The food was beautiful, all fresh and prepared on the spot. You will have to wait a while (not too long), but it's totally worth it. I would suggest making reservations, the place was packed when we got there and we had to wait for about 30 mins. Overall it was great and I will go there again!

IF you are a vegetarian or someone who wants to eat fresh food, this is the place. They even make veggie Mexican food, which is really tasty. This is a small restaurant so you may have to wait.

I've been dining at the Inn Season Cafe for years and could not say a bad word about it. The food is always fresh, local, and mostly organic ingredients. I have tried almost everything on the menu, and have never been disappointed. The specials are always a must. The service there is amazing and I could not imagine the staff there to ever be 'rude' (as other people have reviewed). I personally wish there were more restaurants in the area like Inn Season because they do get quite busy often, but i must say... they're always worth the wait!

Small, quaint, and reminiscent of hotel restaurant in Florence, Italy my boyfriend and I stayed at, Inn Season Cafe uses only the freshest, natural and organic ingredients. Its tucked away from the busy Main St of R.O. off 4th St but you can't miss it because there's usually a crowd (its that good...and popular).

We had the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus w/ Flat bread that was deliciously red peppery but not overwhelming. We thought Beirut Palace's hummus & pita bread were good but the flat bread @ Inn Season was so soft and fluffy! They serve complementary wheat bread which is thick and moist that it went well with the hummus (after we ran out of flat bread).

I had the Quesadilla Grande w/ soy cheese which came w/ their warm housemade salsa. I have to admit warm salsa threw me off but it was still chunky. My boyfriend and the Szechuan Stir Fry which had a peanut sauce that wasn't too peanutty. I think if they fried the tofu lightly instead of steamed-med/firm, it would've had a better "meaty" consistency (my bf isn't a big vegan fan but he still raved about it).

We'll definitely be back for some more red pepper hummus & flat bread and their doughy-moist wheat bread!

This is my first time writing a review, but after reading some of the negative write-ups about this place I had to defend such a great restaurant. My husband and I are both vegetarians and are constantly searching for vegetarian fare in the metro Detroit area. I would say Inn Season Cafe is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the area. I was there this week with my two girlfriends (not vegetarians) and they were equally impressed. I had the Sun Dried Tomato Tart, off the specials menu, and it was superb! Lots of different spices and flavors - corn and tomatoes with an oat crust, yum! It came with a side of steamed kale with chives and lemon, sweet potato spears and a white bean and barley mix. I never knew kale could taste so good. We hung out for a good three hours talking (until the place closed) and the wait staff was attentive the entire time. My husband and I are going again tonight for dinner!

We have eaten at the Inn Season numerous times but will not be going back. This past week my mom took my daughter and I there to celebrate on my birthday. First of all the waitress was inattentive. We practically had to beg to get bread while waiting for our meal, and then we had to beg to get butter for the bread. My mom's meal and my meal were ok, but there was a problem with my daughter's meal. On the lunch menu it had been called "Sun Dried Tomato _____"(Pizetta or something like that.) My daugther ate a couple of pieces and then my mom ate one. It turned out that there was no sun-dried tomato on it. I asked the waitress about it, she went to the kitchen, and came back and said that the cook had forgotten to add the sun dried tomato. I explained that the only reason my daughter had ordered it was because she loves sun dried tomato. The waitress offered to discount us partially for it on the bill. In the meantime, the bus girl took the rest (at least half of the pizzetta ) and didn't ask us if we wanted to take any of it with us. When the bill came I found that the waitress had only deducted $1.60 - not enough since they had forgotten to add the main ingredient! The waitress was very rude about it - she said "Sorry to seem rude, but I checked it over in the kitchen and found sun-dried tomato on it." Both my daughter and my mother insisted that there was NONE. I was really upset that the waitress had changed her story, and that my daughter hadn't been able to enjoy her meal. It ended up not being a very nice birthday celebration. Therefore I forbid my mother to leave a tip! My mother put a penny in the folder - my daughter overheard another waitress say in a snooty voice: "Classy." Therefore we will never again make the trip from Windsor, Canada to visit the Inn Season. (It cost us at least $10 in gas and almost $10 to cross the Windsor-Detroit border, plus the cost of the 3meals.) On another note, our table was really wobbly .

I was told that "no" they do not serve alcohol and "no" I cannot bring my own wine. It was rather abruptly explained to me that BYOB was not "prevalent" in Michigan. So, having been so abruptly dismissed for my "ignorance", I decided that we would patronize another Michigan restaurant that was more customer friendly. It may not be prevalent, but we patronized 2 other delightful Michigan restaurants this weekend who appreciated us and provided wine glasses for us to enjoy wine with our meal. Inn Season may have good food, but I'll never know, and clearly no points from me on customer service.

Portions are still a bit out of control but if you want to go somewhere and know you are putting good wholesome ingredients in you this is the place. I have never been dissappointed with my food and there is always exciting combinations to try on the specials menu. I'm not particulary fond of the ambience and when it's crowded it can get annoyingly noisy because it is a small place but I don't go places for that, I go to treat myself to wonderful food. I highly recommend the Mediterranean Salad, Botana or the 4th Street burger (with Brick Cheese, yum!) and if Strawberry Shortcake is on the dessert menu you MUST try it and get me one too, I'll pay you back. Be a regular and be good to your body!

One problem in my relationship is food. I am a vegetarian and my significant other is definitly not. We have never been able to find a restraunt where both of us really enjoy our food. He took me here on our anniversary and this is our spot now. He LOVED his food even more than I did. It doesnt matter if you eat meat or not, the food is so flavorful that it is hard not to enjoy. I highly recommend to everyone.

I went thinking there would be nothing I would like on the menu since burgers and fries are my thing and loved this place. Great ambience, great service, and many different food choices. Even if you think there will be nothing vegetarian you would like, go here for dinner. You will be pleasantly surprised. Also great for a first date! Very romantic!
