Situated amongst low rent stores near the south border of Parchment, it is, for Parchment citizens, the only decent place to buy bread. (Your other choices are strictly the brands you'd find in the grocery stores like Harding's). There is a MacKenzie's bakery about a mile farther south, within the Kalamazoo city limits, and given a choice, I'd go there. But Rezema's has been around since at least the Seventies, when my parents lived in Parchment, and they found it then, like now, a simple bakery that makes a few things really well. If I was looking for decent white bread and doughnuts, and driving to Sarkozy's or MacKenzie's was out of the question, I'd go to Rezema's. And I realize this entire paragraph sounds like damning praise, but I imagine it must be hard to compete if you own a bakery in the Kalamazoo area and you have to compete with Sarkozy's and MacKenzie's (and you could add Boonzaaijer's as a third).
