I have read a few of these reviews. I have only one thing to say. I would suggest to anyone that if you come into Mesquite Creek and sit in my section (my name is Bob) I will bend over backward to give you the finest dining experience by giving you knowledgable reccomendations in food, wine, and somtimes a good cooking tip. Come see me at Mesquite Creek and take a bite......

The whole experience was terrible . I had the chicken durango ,way over cooked so dry I could hardley swallow it. The server did'nt say much at all. Very un caring about everything. The salads are just a bunch of ice berg lettuce. with very little of anything else.tThe rice they serve is a joke its rice with tomatoe soup mixed with it we could'nt eat it. the prices are a rip off for what you get. They need to step it up Big time. don't waste your money!!! Hey managment you need to read these reviews and make some changes. We will not be back .

My husband and I just went this past Saturday 07/17/2010. Our server barely said two words to us the entire time we were there. Normally I am fine with minimal conversation, but a pleasant hello, explanation of specials, or even asking me how I wanted my meat cooked would have been nice. The atmosphere would have been perfect, if they had a dress code. I could not understand why some people were wearing nice dress casual clothing and others looked like they just came from working on a construction site. Mesquite Creek needs an identity check. My starter was clam chowder, the clams were filthy, the soup over salted, and oily. My husband received potato skins that were under done and under salted. Then I get this salad that is actually amusing, it's not even the size of my fist, and is covered in American processed cheese, I thought this was supposed to be an upscale dining experience. Then our dinner arrives, and I have to give them credit, they can cook meat, but the sides are terrible. My smashed potato's looking like they had been cooked days before, and the green beans were not fresh at all. I have no problem paying for quality, but this was not it. Next time I will go to Ruth's Chris, where I know that I am getting what I pay for.

We had dinner at Mesquite Creek here in Clarkston tonight, 1 of us ordered the Salmon, another the Chicken Alfredo and I the Chicken Durango. It is disheartening that none of us really enjoyed the food, other than the bread. The salmon was very fishy and a sign that its not fresh, didn't eat much at the restaurant and not even our cat wanted it when we got home. The 2 chicken dinners were simple and bland, with the chicken in the alfredo being chewy and hard, not appetizing. This was only our second time here, the first time we had a decent lunch [about 2 months ago], so we thought we would try it for dinner tonight, we regretfully ended up disappointed. The menu is different between lunch and dinner, and despite paying out more than $70 for a dinner with no appetizers, no alcohol and only 1 diet pop, the food and service were actually quite poor. A slight feeling of getting ripped-off actually, where if at least the atmosphere was effervescent it wouldn't have been so bad, but it wasn't. The atmosphere was actually abit tired and stuffy, got the impression they were trying to pass off the 'classy' restaurant act, but failing. We felt abit turned off actually, and this was reinforced by what appeared to be the night shift floor manager wandering the isle ways with a blank look on his face, just odd. The more I think of our dinner tonight, I'm actually starting to get abit angry at the waste of money and a beautiful Saturday night in Michigan by this disappointing dining experience.

Last night I had dinner at mesquite creek for the first time in 3 years. From the time I walked in the door I was floored. Everything was so new and open and new, sorry, I have to say I was suprised by the menu it had everything and I had the Prime rib , which holy cow, get it cow, anyway. It was perfectly cooked and it truly did melt in my mouth. The capt. and coke I had well, I had a couple more so what else can I say and the service best described as stellar, thanks again Bob, see you again soon .

Pros: Fantastic service, Attentive staff, excellent portions

Cons: alittle busy at times

Took my date and a group of friends there for our senior prom. Service and staff was awful, I would not go back!! We were a well behaved, well dressed group which seemed to have the impression on the waitress that we could not afford dinner. We were given the "cheap" menu and had to ask for the actual menu. Gratuity was added to my date's and my check, as if we wouldn't leave a tip! I wouldn't recommend wasting your time!!

Please note---we were polite about the ordeal, but it is just unsatisfactory being treated like we couldn't afford a restaurant we picked out for our dinner!

March 29, 2008Our group walked in the door & was seated immediately with our reservation, usually you have to wait 15 to 30 mins even with a reservation at other establishments. Our server, Bob, was knowledgeable and attentive. Drinks, food, desert, coffee, everything was excellent. Just a tiny bit below the Capital Grill near Somerset yet at 1/2 the cost. Our bill for FOUR with drinks, appetizer, meals, desert, tip was $185.00. Highly recommend the Mesquite Creek Steak House in Clarkston, MI.

Ever since they did a makeover on the restaurant (a few years ago) , the food and service have improved tremendously. Great atmosphere, excellent food and they serve some of the best bread that you will find in Metro Detroit. Highly Recommend.

Pros: Much better reservation system than most restaurants, great food, service & atmosphere. Also, the smoking section is kept far away from the non-smoking section. Love it!

Cons: None!

I have been eating at "The Creek" for over 3 years and it is amazing the transformation that occurred! The whole experience from start to finish is amazing. Just walking in it is beautiful, with a fireplace and relaxing waiting area. An extensive wine list, elegant menu and unique desserts, are part of the fun. Not to mention the friendly servers. They take reservations and I reccommend revisiting if you have not been back yet!

I definitely recommend this place, to meet with friends for appetizers and drinks in the bar, or a nice quite dinner! The wait staff is awesome and you can?t beat the food! I've tried several of the fish entrees and enjoyed everyone! There?s nothing like the tuna steaks they serve! You will not leave the place hungry!

Owned by a local couple, Mesquite Creek is a great place to go for wonderful steaks and seafood (their coconut shrimp is the best I've ever had, period.) Their prices tend to be a bit on the expensive side, but if you're going out on the town and don't want the same old Ruby Tuesdays-Applebee's-Chili's fare, this is an excellent choice. You can sit in the rustic dining section, or choose to sit in the bar (where smoking is allowed), or in summer months, you can also choose to sit outside.

Weekdays from 4-6 is happy hour, where you get a free Chips and Queso/Salsa appetizer and half off all your drinks. With that appetizer, one $10-18 entree is more than enough to feed two adults.

Happy eating!

PROS: Good service, excellent food
CONS: a bit on the expensive side

My wife and I came here and both were amazed at the speed which our food was brought to our table. We had the barbequed shrimp and the prime rib and would recommend both highly.
