What is so disturbing about B F & A is that they continue to waste people's time who are looking for work. I have reported there unscrupulous hiring activities and selling practices to Health Mor. In the economy we all face, people need to have confidence that when they are hired they will be paid for the work they do.

No company should hire people expecting them to advertise, attend meetings use their personal vehicle and then NOT pay them and or reimburse them for anything.

First NOTHING is in writing.

After working there, a very short time, more and more about B F & A started coming to light. I was also personally hired in a group interview setting, but was told I would be a Sales Representative. As stated above reports, I paid the $30.00 bonding charge I did NOT receive any certification or proof that I was actually bonded. As required by Doug (B F & A Trainer) I completed multiple demonstrations and was never compensated, and after working more than 2 weeks found out (from another sales representative) that the only way anyone can be compensated for demonstrations is if you complete 15 demonstrations EACH WEEK. B F & A nor Doug ever told me that. Sales Representatives are called independent contractors but anyone hired by Doug is instructed that there is a MANDATORY time to report to the office every day. Upon arriving there is a training meeting conducted. AGAIN your time in these mandatory meetings will not earn you compensation. Also, during initial training you are NEVER told you are required to attain your own sales leads. However, after your initial training is completed you are then told in your mandatory morning meeting you HAVE to advertise in order to attain leads. (Advertising literally entails going door to door with an offer of a free 12 pack of pop in order to get into a clients home to conduct a demonstration.) (You are NOT PAID to advertise, but it is expected and NEVER DISCUSSED within the interview or during the initial training.) As a Sale Representative you are then asked to drive anywhere from Washtenaw County to Livingston County to North Oakland County to South Monroe county and will NOT be reimbursed for your time, your fuel expenses or any other expenses incurred nor will you be compensated unless you PUSH a used machine on a customer. (I was told that I would receive $20.00 per/presentation as a salary and nothing was ever mentioned regarding having to sell a system.) I then came to realize that if a customer requests time to think about purchasing such an EXPENSIVE ITEM you are criticized by Doug (B F & A Trainer.) Within the entire B F & A hierarchy representatives are pushed to sell these 'used' machines (or systems) immediately during the demonstration and actually sell the used demonstration machine. (Which considering what the customer is being asked to spend, wouldnt it be appropriate for the customer to receive a brand new machine?) Also, even though no new representatives receive any sort of compensation for demonstrations, you are expected to call Doug when beginning and ending each demonstration. (Again, remember youre called an independent contractor.) But expected to report to Doug a direct employee. Finally you see after a short time the revolving door of Sales Representatives, I would estimate in the month I was with B F & A more than 40 Representatives were hired and more than 90 percent of those hired left within less than 1 week. Within my own observation, no one within B F & A seems at all concerned with the incredibly high turnover ratio within the Sales Representative position.

I worked there for over a month before I finally got fed up. These guys are scam artists.They promise you "20.00/hr" which turns into 20/demo which takes about 2.5 hrs. I NEVER got paid for the demos I did, they promise to provide you with "good sales leads" then complain when you dont go out on your own time and advertize door to door. You pay $30.00 to be bonded but never see the certificate. They tell you there are no leads on the board, yet somehow the team leader AND the manager are going out on demos themselves.The leads they do give you turn out to be deadbeats.They said the sales I did close couldnt be financed, but somehow I doubt that and have no way to check.They're saving the good leads for themselves and trick you into doing free advertizing for them. Every office sports a BBB plaque, but they are NOT affiliated, They DID recieve an "F"rating,and NEVER respond to BBB complaints, let alone try to resolve them, but they know their way around the law so everything is legal,it's just not ethical.The manufacturer of the filter queen system, Health-Mor is 81 yrs old, BF&E is 28. Filter Queen must not care about anything but sales so they let it continue, which is sad because the system is actually a good product.I recommend Ebay or buying direct from the factory if you really want one.

BF&A INC. say they have been in business for 80 years since 1928, A LIE. they have been in business since 11/10/1989 and they play on your needing a job to falsely encourage you that they have no sales positions just display and set positions to get you to go to training for 3 days on how to sell their products, they are misleading people until people find out for themselves and they have negative response on the BBB and they have given them a grade of an F. BAD............to many complaints and negative responses. That a business that I'll never recommend to any body

I recently bought an air filter from this company, and it is amazing. We used to have an ionic breeze which we were very unpleased with. Hi my name is Connie, and my husband and I purchased a system from this company around christmas time. I really wanted the machine but my husband was a little scared by the price. After a couple of days he agreed to let me get one. We immediately saw results with the air quality inside of our home. My husband no longer woke of weezing in the middle of the night and neither one of us have dark circles anymore. We stayed in a hotel for the weekend and my husband woke up weezing and we both missed our machines. I would not give up these machines for the world, and we wouldboth recommend these machines to anyone on the market for an air purifier.

I recently left B F & A due to a family went to an interview in 2006 and actually worked for the company in taylor for over a year. The management staff their is amazing and everything they told me was absolutely true. I ended up making more money than i had ever in my life, the products were amazing. And the office was very professional and clean!! I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a opportunity with chance for advancement and a great work environment to apply...you will be glad you did!!
