My daughter has danced with Miss Liz since age 3. She is 5 now and absolutely ADORES MIss LIz. Elizabeth Williams is a world class ballet instructor. Don't get me wrong, Miss Liz is serious about her dance instruction and has high expectations for her dancers - even at a young age - but I find this refreshing in a world where too many parents are way too llenient with their children. If your child does not deal well with discipline, this may not be the school for you. That being said, Miss Liz has never made my child feel uncomfortable or use "put downs". My daughter has never ever been afraid of Miss Liz and thrives under her direction. I had my daughter try a Creative Movement class at a different studio, just to give her the opportunity to try something different, and she asked to go back to Miss Liz. She loves learning actual dance moves instead of just dancing around and being silly (although they do that too). If your little one is an aspiring balleina, this is definitely the place to be. The recitals are so adorable and it is so wonderful to watch the dancers of all skill level. The ballets Liz puts one every year in December are top notch and so much fun for the entire family. We love Miss LIz!

My young daughter took ballet for 3 years prior to moving to the Lansing area, and adored it. She was used to her soft-spoken but firm ballet instructor. I felt that Ms. Williams way of teaching used way more put-downs than what was necessary for my daughter's age group. I felt like I was sending her in to a drill sergeant at a boot camp every week. My daughter quit ballet altogether, rather than return to instruction under Ms. Williams, and has not danced since. I feel like her experience with this studio ruined all the joy she felt with dance beforehand. The building was ALWAYS cold and drafty, both in the waiting area and the dance studio. If you have cat allergies, be forewarned of the resident feline. The dance studio faces the main street, so any nice or not-so-nice person walking by can have a look into the inner sanctum anytime they feel like it. This place was just one of those businesses where you wonder if the aim is really to teach... or just to make money.
