When I went here to shop for some books, I was surprised with how organized and clean the place is. There's no problem with their customer service.

A spectacular amount of books and odd collectibles that you have never seen before! This place has over four stories of old hard to find classic books-some signed and 1st edition. It is so easy to get lost in here-you are bound to find at least one book that you thought you would never find again! Everybody there has been so helpful to me, and they really know their stuff. Definitely worth going to! Parking is pretty much any lot you can find available, I usually park on the street. The location is not in the best of areas, so make sure to lock your car door when you leave.

King books is near Downtown Detroit. They have thousands of books on 5? floors.
If you are looking for a discontued book or just a used kids book this is the place.
The only 2 problems is tyou have to find the book yourself because you can`t call and ask if they have the book you want . They say there are to many books to search from. { They are seperated by topic} and there is no Wheelchairs way to get in or go to other flooors.

PROS: 1000s of books
CONS: no wheelchair ramps

I like this place very much for just one reason. They have a good collection of rare books. You can find any book here that you cannot find in any other stores. They charge their customers in accordance to the rarity of the books. Remove the rare books from this place and you would have just another bookstore in the town. I am someone who would pay anything (of course not my fortune) for the rarest of the rare books. They are very good at maintaining the standard of these old rare books.

You have not been book shopping unless you have been to King Books in Detroit. The Lafayette Boulevard location is a Detroit landmark. One of the mayor's staffers ran into the side of the building! Anyway, when you go inside, it's like stepping into a time machine. The place smells like a wonderful old basement. The books there are priceless and rare and will blow your mind. I got this one book on the Algonquin Round Table that still makes me all teary eyed.

PROS: great book selection
CONS: a target for city officials and their cars
