On March 24, 2012, we purchased a corner hanging shelf from Stone's Throw. It certainly wasn't the cheapest shelf at $129 (or the most expensive), but we thought it would make a nice addition to our home.

We brought the shelf home, and during the assembly, the wood cracked. As best I can tell, this is a manufacturer's defect from a misaligned pre-drilled screw hole.

I called the store on the next business day and was asked to provide a photo of the damage. I was also informed at that time that the shelf had been discontinued so there wouldn't be any exchange possible. I sent the email, but also mentioned that there was a floor model available, so there was an option for exchange.

A day later, I received the following from the store:

"Hi Jon,

I apologize for the late response. After talking with my boss they have decided that we can not take back a damaged piece. Unfortunately it left our store in good condition and was damaged when you were putting it together. If you'd like to purchase the one we have in our showroom you can but it would be at full price. Sorry for any inconvenience. "

Again, I believe this to be a defect in the product, not my assembly skills. I then called the store to speak with the manager. I was informed that the issue was not the debate around the problem, but what she would do with a returned damage piece.

I suggested she would in turn speak to her vendor of the product and attempt to get her refund that way. I was informed that for the accessories side of the business, she uses many vendors and that would be impossible. So since she wouldn't have anywhere to return it, that I couldn't return the damaged piece to the store.

I expressed my disappointment, and concern that she was losing a customer, one who loved quite a lot of the selection in the store and who would have returned...all over a $129 shelf. But they didn't care. She was more concerned about what she'd do with a returned damaged piece.

What a shame in this day and age to have a company with such a lack of understanding over the importance of the customer. We certainly won't be returning, and hope others find somewhere else to buy, or find themselves in danger of landing in the same predicament.

I've been window shopping for furniture for quite a while, since I'm kind of a tightwad when it comes to buying high-end things. And after reading another review here about a bad experience at Stone's Throw, I was tempted to pass them by.

This is such a fun store! They have great contemporary furniture unlike any other store in town! I have been very impressed with the quality of the pieces and the variety of options for finishes and fabrics. One company has over 500

I haven't been into the store and judging by Stones Throw web page doubt I ever will. Are you kidding me?! Showing only two photos to purchase? Why...is that all you have to sell? And what about the quality of the furniture? I mean where is it even made? What's the history of the furniture maker? I'll pass

BUYER BEWARE!! Knowing that we had space constraints, we brought in our dimensions and chose a sectional that we were told would work. We chose fabric, placed the order, and thus began the 6 - 8 week wait time for the couch to be made. After 9 weeks, we were contacted by Stone's Throw and told that they JUST realized that the manufacturer had a back order on the fabric and wouldn't even begin to make the couch for another 6 weeks. Although we were frustrated, we wanted a positive resolution so we chose a different fabric. After another extensive wait period the movers showed up with our couch and low and behold it didn't fit. Rather than acknowledging that the whole experience has been a train wreck for us as customers, we were told that we would be responsible for a restocking fee if we couldn't find another couch in their store that would work (only two fit the space constraints).

It baffles my mind that a company that has this poor of customer service can even stay in business. My good friend was going to buy a couch from them and quickly changed her mind after witnessing the attitude and lack of customer service displayed by the people at Stone's Throw.

In all my years of being a customer, I cannot recall having this bad of an experience with a company.

I Love this store! We bought furniture for our new home at Stones Throw. I had looked everywhere and everyone had the same type stuff. Then I stumbled upon Stones Throw. I have had tons, and I mean tons, of compliments on my furniture. It is cool!

Finally a Furniture Store designed towards the younger generation!! Stones Throw is located on the NE side of town with a great showroom. Their entire staff is incredibly helpful and will spend hours with you to ensure you get exactly what you want. Not only do they offer furniture, they also offer accessories. The only downside to the store is I had to pay for shipping. I wasn't told about it up front until they wanted to schedule a delivery time. When I said I wasn't told about it, they agreed to not charge me. They do allow you to pick up the furniture from their warehouse if you prefer. If you are in need of furniture don't forget to check out Stones Throw.

Very cool store that markets towards young professionals that want nice furniture but not old school style. The store has a lot of decorating ideas with a helpful staff. I love to just walk around and look at their different room ideas. They also have rugs and paintings that are reasonably priced. I have not bought anything from there yet, but I have my eye on many things.

PROS: Selection of furniture geared towards young adults
CONS: I am curious about the quality

I was very impressed when I stepped into Stone's Throw for the first time and saw some great design, beautiful furniture and fantastic prices. Stepping away from the basic designs of local furniture stores, Stone's Throw offers furniture more in the way of West Elm and Pottery Barn, without the price tag to match. A great sales staff was there to help and they offer an interior designer to come out to your house to give you layout advise and ideas. They also have a kitchy gift selection that include vases, frames and wrapping paper.

This quite possibly may be my favorite store. The employees are top notch -- especially Todd. The offer gorgeous furniture and fun creative accessories. They go above and beyond normal customer service to ensure you are completely satisfied with everything! The price of the furniture is matched only by the quality of the product/fabrics.
