Rush's Bridal was a Horrible Experience!

by Lillie R.

I was not impressed with this place at all!! I was left to fend for myself, get the dresses on myself, and not to mention very crowded, hot and uncomfortable. The dresses were extremely worn. I found several buttons on the floor. The guests I brought with me to watch me try on dresses were left to stand outside my dressing cubicle, where they felt unwanted. After less than 1/2 hour of my hour appointment, I was fed up with the place. If you want a relaxing, genuine experience trying on wedding dresses this is not the place to go!

From Kim 10/06/09

by Happy R. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,887

Very good. I have been there twice within the last year - I purchased two bridesmaids dresses for my own wedding earlier in the spring and then was there again recently with my sister. We purchased her wedding gown there as well and we both have just truly enjoyed the ease of service, the help of the staff in askign for colors and styles and just being taken care of. I would recommend Rush's in a heartbeat to any one of my friends.

Rush's Bridal is very helpful, not pushy!!!!!

by K W.

Rush's was my first experience trying on bridal gowns and the lady that helped me was very helpful and let me try on as many gowns as I wanted. She knew what I was looking for in a dress after seeing what my friend and I were pulling off the rack and the suggestions she made were very helpful. I would have been unhappy had she pulled any dress off the rack. There was no pressure to come back, but I definitely will be back!

Rush's Bridal is worth a try

by Grace F.

Rush's Bridal was the first bridal shop I visited. After reading some of these reviews I was a little hesitant to go there but I figured I would give it a try and see for myself. I made an appointment and went during my lunch hour on a Tuesday with my mom and sister. It's true that the shop itself is not the nicest looking, but I was there to buy a dress, not the store. The girl who helped me was very friendly, helpful, and not at all pushy or condescending. She let me try on as many dresses as I wanted and even let me take pictures of my favorites. They had a wide variety of designers and styles. My favorite part of the store is Rush's back room, where they stored older designs that sell for a lot cheaper than the dresses up front. They ranged from $400 - $1,000 (depending on if you buy it off the rack or have it special ordered), which I found to be pretty reasonable. I was able to find 2 dresses well below my budget. I can't speak for the service after you buy the dress but as far as a first visiting and dress fittings goes, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Rush's. I would recommend making an appointment a week ahead of time and going during weekday to avoid crowds and get one-on-one attention.

Awful Experience

by Sarah S.

I was new to the area and received the recommendation of Rush's from a friend. With not much time to plan the wedding, I ended up getting my bridesmaids' dresses from Rush's but the staff was so rude! The owner, Mrs. Rush was visibly annoyed with me when I didn't see many dresses I liked. The employees lost track of my bridesmaids' orders, didn't keep accurate records with shipping addresses, and even mailed the dresses to the wrong address after I confirmed with them the correct address (twice!). I would not recommend buying anything from this store.

Our experience at Rush's Bridal

by Kelly R.

I am the mother of a groom to be married in August. I, and the mother-of-the-bride, made the trip from far Northern Minnesota to Minneapolis...what turned out to be a six hour drive one-way.
We got up on Saturday morning filled with all the joy, hope and excitement that comes with a wedding. We joined a glowingly beautiful bride and her loving bridal party for a day of finding that one perfect dress suitable for the day that would join not only two souls, but our families forever.
We had a beautiful experience at our first destination. We two mothers watched as women from a little dress shop hurriedly scampered to find the dress of Heidi's dreams, listening to the wishes of she and her bridesmaids. They treated our girls like valued guests and our bride like the princess she is sure to be on that day.
While still undecided about her dress, Heidi was referred to another bridal store near-by to continue her shopping. The store that received the gracious referral was Rush's.
From the moment we arrived at Rush's store we were greeted with nothing less than a snobbish disdain that comes with those who see themselves as inconvenienced by our presence. Although we were appreciative that we were allowed to look without an appointment, we got in due to an over-whelming amount of cancellations of that day. I questioned how a bridal store could have so many cancellations and no-shows in down-town Minneapolis on a busy Saturday. It didn't take long for us to realize why this little store may have chased away so many young brides.
As our young women tried to give our bride the day she deserves, the staff at Rush's Bridal shocked us as mother's like no other place I've ever been. The scene was like one from a fifth grade class room. Once the bride would find a dress that she wished to try on, and she disappeared into a changing room with her friends, the staff of Rush's would gather to mock and laugh at that particular bride.
We heard actual statements such as, "I can't believe she keeps trying on dresses like that...she is WAY to fat for that dress!"
Or, "What is she even doing here...she OBVIOUSLY can't afford this place. She is wasting a lot of people's time."
We watched as the staff picked and chose to whom they would briefly show the most minimum amount of kindness. To some of these young brides the staff was absolutely cruel.
One of the most disgusting acts at Rush's was when I needed to find a seat for our mother-of-the-bride. She has a disability that makes climbing stairs very difficult and she was totally exhausted from the events of the day. I simply asked if I may turn a chair around (keeping it in the seating area) to allow the mother-of-the-bride to see her daughter trying on dresses. Our assistant agreed. But the very instant our mother-of-the-bride stood up to get a better look at her daughter, one of the ladies (and I use that term loosely in this instance) grabbed the chair from her.
We were blessed to have a kind young woman helping our bride. This employee seemed out of place at a store that certainly did not value the guest. The older women at the store, as well as the male manager/owner could learn a lot from this young lady. We were stunned to see these women not only huddle together to whisper their judgment, they were allowed to voice their immature attitudes to the gentleman in charge who sat at a computer mulling over the "figures" of the day stopping only occasionally to bark out, "Can I help you?!"
Needless to say this was not the pleasant experience you hope you daughter to have while looking for the dress of her dreams. This is supposed to be a fairy-tale-like experience for a young woman who anticipates the blessed day approaching. These people stand to make a LOT of money off these lovely brides who should be having the time of their lives.
With the negativity and sadness we are all forced to see in the world these days, how badly do we need to grab those moments of happiness and joy? We are in a time when we need to seek out and find the good in the world. It won't be found at Rush's Bridal store. Kindness is not in stock.
The women who behaved as they did on Saturday should be nothing less than ashamed and embarrassed of their childish behavior. I would not recommend that any bride who wishes to enjoy her experience step foot in this store.
The dresses are ridiculously over-priced, often ripped and in depressing display, and common courtesy is sorely lacking.
Our bride did find her dress. However, she will NOT purchase it from Rush's. We will find it elsewhere. What you fail to realize (staff at Rush's Bridal), is that you do not corner the marked on bridal apparel. It's never good business to chase away customers willing to hand you (sometimes) thousands of dollars for a single dress.
You always make an impression. You are always an example to others. The question is..."What will you be an example of?"

Great Place to find a deal!

by Michaela J.

I visited Rush's the other night with my cousin (I'm her MOH). We came in on a week night and the place was not busy at all. Our sales assistant was so helpful and let us stay almost 2 hours! Even though the place is a little cramped, we found so many fabulous dresses. The bride is coming back to order her gown (after trying on 20+). Rush's is definitely worth the visit! If you don't want to go when a million people are there, try the week nights!

They were so helpful!

by Jessica O.

So I made the appointment for a Saturday and they let me and all 6 of my BM's come in. We got a big room - did the bridesmaid dresses first and then debated color. They were very helpful with the ordering. Our saleslady told us she wasn't the best at measurements and got went and got us the best!

Then it was my turn. I swear I tried on 40 dresses that day - and the staff was so kind. I ended up falling in love with a dress from a designer they carry (but they did not carry the dress) so I called and the owner special ordered it for me.

We were in love so we brought in the 2 flower girls (7&9). The staff was so kind - they let the girls try on all the dresses in that they could fit into (and then let them try them on again b/c they wanted to play dress up). They were very sweet and not pushy and made them feel like "big" girls.

I would recommend Rush's on their service & selection.

Not a Fan

by katy m.

I felt like they had limited dresses and my sales lady was very pushy. She kept bringing me styles I did not want. I did not have a good experience and I wish I didn't go there. The only positive is that I liked one bridesmaid dress there, but I plan on purchasing it elsewhere.

Totally tacky but good dress selection

by Lindsey J.

As I walked up the stairs into Rush's I was met by a slightly disappointing atmosphere. With they highly unattractive carpet, cheap looking decor, and distasteful color scheme I wanted to turn right back and leave. I stuck around though and found that they had a large variety of dresses and a helpful staff, however the distasteful furnishings and poor use of the space got actually quite annoying. The lighting in the fitting room was terrible and all the rooms and dress racks were so close together I felt smothered and unrelaxed the entire time.
I would recommend Rush's to anyone who is looking for a good deal, however, be prepared to be turned off at first glance.

Treated like a Princess, Great Experience!

by jamie j.

i've read some pretty unfavorable reviews here, and i'm writing because my experience was so much better than the experiences i had at other 4 shops in the twin cities that i visited. I made and appointment by phone and when i arrived at rush's, i was greeted warmly by a knowledgeable and friendly salesperson. I was shown a number of gowns in my price range and within the style I wanted. The place was neat and clean and had good lighting. yes, parking can be an issue downtown, but my visit was worth the cost of parking. They even had complimentary feminine hygiene products in their bathrooms! my salesperson never seemed inpatient and when she didn't know an answer to something, she found another employee who did. What i learned is that the price of gowns at Rush's starts at around $800 for wedding gowns and $125 for bridesmaid dresses -- this is somewhat high, but if a bride wants to pay less there is also a cash and carry section with discounted gowns. Because its by appointment, I had one on one personal service the entire time. I found their selection to be the best of any of the 4 stores I visited. anyway, i was finally brought a gorgeous gown that was love at first sight for me. i purchased the gown and can't wait until it arrives... my wedding is this May and I had a wonderful experience at Rush's.

Are you important enough for Rush Bridal?

by Amy J.

Please see the email I just sent to Rush's regarding my experience with them. This should say it all:

I called a few days ago, inquiring about a Bill Levkoff gown (#966). I am having a very small wedding, and it is my second, and am choosing a bridesmaid gown in ivory. I left a message, and received an INCREDIBLY rude response.

First of all, I was told that you don't sell bridesmaid's gowns as wedding gowns. If I insist on ordering one as my gown, then I will be charged $100 extra to order it in ivory. Plus, I will not be given a bridal appointment, but a bridesmaid appointment, where it was alluded to the fact that I would not receive the same time and attention as a bride who spends more money in your shop.

I wish to make a few points:

1. Just because I am having a small wedding, does not make my day any less important to me than to a bride who is having 400 people and 12 attendants. I had a $50K wedding the first go 'round, and have actively CHOSEN not to do that again.

2. I may not be spending a large amount of money with your shop, but I have many friends who are or will be getting married, and would have been a good source of referrals.

3. Regardless of what I spend, I should be treated with respect, not with disdain.

4. I have relayed this story to ALL of my friends and family, who have vowed to never go to your shop, plus have told the bridal store that I am visiting in place of yours. They were MORTIFIED that you would treat me as a "less important bride" and would attempt to charge me extra because of the color of the dress.

Maybe you feel that more modest wedding parties are not worth your time, but they ARE worth your time - if just to avoid bad publicity.

PROS: None
CONS: Poor service unless you are buying an expensive gown

Rush's Bridal

by ROXANNE S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,295

Earlier this summer, I had an unpleasant experience at Rush's Bridal in downtown Minneapolis on Nicollet Mall. I had just gotten engaged. I'm still glowing. I was so excited to take my lunch hour to go look at dresses for the first time with a good friend who will be in the wedding herself. We climbed the 2 flights only to get told that we would need an appointment to even try on a dress. From their ads, it makes it seem like you only need an appointment to try on dresses from the "special racks". Well, knowing that I probably could not afford those racks anyway, I didn't make the appt. After all, this was a quick look see. I only
intended to try on one or two dresses, just to say that I can do that now! Because I really am engaged and I never dreamed I would ever get married. I was very disappointed. All I could do was look and there were at least 6 open rooms. I didn't want any assistance, all I wanted to do was look.

PROS: Selection was decent
CONS: Bad service. Not willing to please a customer.

Good selection but don't expect to be pampered

by Amanda I. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,547

This is a large store with a pretty good selection of dresses. I liked that they let you browse and pick out the dresses you wanted to try on, but it would have been nice if they offered a few more suggestions. The owner is great and found an extra piece of fabric from a bridesmaids dress that I liked so that I could take it home with me. I didnt end up buying a dress here, but would have felt comfortable doing so because they have been in business a long time and have a good reputation.

Best cutomer service around

by Kristin C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,640

They have a large selection of gowns. The customer service, though, was incredible. I would send anyone here based on how friendly and accomodating they were. You feel important coming here, in an old school way. Older people working here who have been in the business a long time, not some 16-year-old who doesn't care about her job.

staff is not very helpful

by Yauheniya N. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,659

I called this store ahead of time and asked what the best time to visit would be (when it's not too busy), considering the fact that I needed assistance. I never got a direct answer and decided to visit the store anyway. When I got there, it wasn't busy at all - but no one acknowledged my presence and I had to ask for help. All I got was a finger pointed at "stuff you may like" - and when I was about to ask a question, no salesperson was to be found. Rush's may have nice selection, but in my experience, customer service was unacceptable.

Nothing too fancy

by Nathan G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,395

Rush's Bridal has a wide variety of wedding gowns but don't expect to be awed and oohed when you walk in. Nothing of the dresses are too fancy or frilly. They have a wide variety of prices on their dresses. You get for what you pay for at this store. If you haven't found the right dress yet, check out Rush's Bridal!
