We usually take it to go. The staff is quick and friendly. The food is always good. Only downfall is every once in a while it will be seasoned a bit too spicy. Suppose it depends on the cook at the time.

This is American food and this place is nasty. If you think good food needs to be covered in sauce cheese lettuce and sour cream then you just have bad taste. The food here has no flavor. To all the people who think this is Mexican try Pineda Taco. But I know nobody will do that they are used to this garbage. Just like calling Leeann Chins Chinese food hahaha nasty

I've been dining at El Loro in Crystal since it opened probably around 5 years ago. I've also dined several times at El Toro in Robbinsdale, it's sister restaurant. Both restaurants used to be so good with fresh, delicious Mexican food made with quality ingredients. Unfortunately, things have degraded over time. Portions have gotten smaller, things aren't so fresh anymore, and the past 3-4 times I ate at El Toro, I got sick. But that's a different restaurant . . . .

I ate at El Loro on a Sunday night. Besides lacking service, we got a partially uncooked shrimp on our parillada platter (it was grey on the tail, which all good cooks know is an egregious error). Can we say foodborne illness? I also got a softshell taco melt in which the cheese was not melted at all. I could still see the individual shreds. The tomato I got was mealy and the guacamole was dry/brown in spots. The white dipping sauce for the chips looked kind of old, since it was kind of congealed on the top. There was also water on the sides, which made it look like it had separated.

Like I said, the portions have gotten smaller over time. The parillada, which is $25, used to be huge! So much food! It has definitely reduced in size, which is disappointing considering how much it costs. That coupled with the lack of freshness in the ingredients really disappointed me.

Even if these problems hadn't happened, there was still icing left to be put on the cake! I had a coupon for $5 a $25 or more order. When I went to the register, it took the man a while to ring it up. I was wondering what the problem was. When I got the receipt to sign, it was almost $2 more than it should have been with the coupon discount. I asked him about this. He told me that the deduction he put in was really $3.50 because the restaurant gets taxed for all of the receipts, even coupons. He also said that it costs him $500 every few months to print the coupons and advertise them. I am sorry, but a $5 coupon is a $5 coupon. I was really irritated! That tax money and the expense of printing coupons is the restaurant's expense, not the customer's. There are so many people who don't notice this bait and switch. I can't believe someone would do this to their customers, most of which are probably loyal (not anymore!). This whole affair was just wrong and unethical in my eyes. I know it's just $1.50, but it's just wrong! (Also, don't ignore the added taxes on YOUR bill because of the lesser coupon deduction.)

A "bad" economy should not be a scapegoat for deceiving customers and lowering the quality of food and service. El Loro and El Toro have gone from being my favorite restaurants to my least favorite as of right now. I can't say I will ever be back to either one again, and that is unfortunate.

As a Mexican American I can tell you that there is nothing authentic about this restaurant. This restaurant caters to Americans that don't know what Mexican cuisine is.

My husband and I love El Loro, the service is always great and the food comes out fast! It is more of a traditional Mexican restaurant so if that is what you want then this is the restaurant you want to try!!

El Loro is my favorite Mexican place to eat . My daughter and I go there a lot. Service is always very quick and the servers are very friendly. Only bad thing to report is that I wish there coupons were good on Friday and Saturday nights. I usually take a Sunday night off from work if I have one.

I have been here three times and have had very fast service and delicious food. Portions are large and my husband eats a lot, so it was perfect for us. It tastes authentic and for lunch the prices are super cheap - total meal for two was under $20 including pop and tip!

we brought a coupon when we ate at 4pm on Saturday and the coupon said NOTHING about not being valid on Friday and Saturday nights, but the manager who was this little mexican girl who was a little snot, would not honor the coupon even though it DID NOT SAY not valid on Fridays and Saturdays. That being said, maybe there was a misprint, but she was not compassionate or apologetic about it. Not that $4.50 is such a huge deal, but she had such an attitude and was not customer service focused, we will never go back there. Feels like they don't want our business anyway.

We used to go to El Loro all the time. In the last year or so the food has gone downhill. I would go in for a beer and chips and salsa, but that's about it. I had to pay $1.00 extra last time for cheese for my steak fajitas. I think cheese should come with the fajitas. Plus, we had to send my sons steak back.

El Loro is always packed. Good Mexican food with oversized portions (always seems to be more than one can eat). A decent variety of choices. Good selection of beer and a nice outside dinning area for the warmer months.

I have very impressed by this restaurant now three times. Each time, they offered very good service, great food and even better values. I will definitely be back many times. I would definitely recommend their shrimp nachos, the portions of shrimp are unbelievable and the shrimp is delicious. Also, their margaritas are hard to beat. Try it out, you will love it.

Pros: Fantastic value, nice staff, and great authentic food.

Cons: Patio could use some shrubbery or plants.

My family has trouble agreeing on where to eat... but the whole family LOVES El Loro!

The food is good, and the menu has a lot of variety, so you can really get what YOU want. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. El Loro draws all kinds of families: Mexicans, Asians... Swedes :D

I highly recommend this place for a couple OR a family!

This resturant is always busy, but the food is no better then mexican food elsewhere. The servers are not top notch and the timing isn't exactly fast. Maybe it is so busy because it is the only mexican food place around. So if you are in the area and have a huge craving, go for it. But if you have other areas to hit, go there for an overall better experience.

We dined here last night and were very satisfied with the food and service. The food has an authentic flavor and is delivered to the table almost immediately. The chips are served with a salsa and a white dip that is spicy and unique in flavor. The prices are very good; lots of food for the price. I would highly recommend this particular restaurant; I have NEVER had a bad meal or bad service at this restaurant!
