I went to the one in St. Paul with my son and we had a blast. The were so helpful and nice. She kept checking on us to make sure we were doing great. We went there 7 years ago for my son's 3rd birthday and had fun too. Will go again.

Fun place to go and create/design your own pottery. I painted a plate and wasn't sure how it would turn out and when we got them back, it was great. Thanks to the friendly staff, I was able to be creative and find the paint colors I wanted. I would recommend trying this out if you are looking for a fun afternoon. I think it is fun for all ages.

Went with my husband and daughter. The woman was a bit rude and not the least bit helpful, this was our first time. We made it through, but the real problem was when I went back to pick up our stuff. Came in and was handed a bag, good thing I looked in it before I drove away because only one of the items was ours. Went back in and the woman took the wrong items back and looked for my other two. Unable to find them the woman told me to give them a few days and they'd call me, after four days I called and was told they had found them and to come in and get them, no apology or anything. Came back and they had one of the two missing items and again I was told they would call me in a few days to get the other piece. After a week I didn't hear anything so I stopped in and there it was. During all this know body apologized once for this mix up and in fact they were trying so hard to make it somehow my fault. I would not accept that and did not let that happen. Won't be going back there!

We had a very similar experience as Docia. We arrived a little after 7pm to be told "we stop taking walk ins at 7" I said "Aren't you open until 8, what time is it?" Her reply " seven oh eight" "We'll be quick" I said. She offered NO help, direction, NOTHING! then says "can you pay ahead so I can start closing out?"
We were making Christmas gifts for Grandma's and felt completely rushed, our pieces look like crap because I felt rushed, I didn't even want to pick them up. For how expensive the pieces are, I expect customer service to go along with it. Once finished I asked if I should clean anything up to which another woman who came from the back (why couldn't she have helped???) rudely without looking at me replied "no".
I have 2 more pieces to make and will be driving out of my way to Woodbury because I will never return to paint your plate and will spread the word. In these tough times, customer service should be phenomenal because without the customer you don't have a job. The customer signs your paycheck, these women do not get that concept. They under estimate the power of a customer, they have no idea how word about a bad experience spreads like wild fire.

We had nine girls in the "Party Room" and it was a blast. The ages were 12 to 60 and yet the conversation was flowing, the creativity was amazing and the relationship building was great. I would recommend this event to any group, even those, like me who lack imagination, because it's just plain fun to see what everyone creates. We plan on going back again, now that we are seasoned plate painters.

Huge BOO to "paint your plate" on grand ave. Open until 6pm on Wednesdays, there is a big sign on the door "walk ins welcome" (it also says this on their voice mail). So I walk in at 5:02 to get a table for my mother, myself and my TWO children......and am told "no walk Ins after 5pm" (not what it says on the sign on the front door, and really, it is 5:02). I say "you don't close until 6". She says "actually I feel like closing at 5:35 tonight". HORRIBLE WOMAN! No apologies. She suggested I drive 40 minutes in holiday traffic to the other location that is open until 8p,. My son asks as we are leaving "mommy why was that lady so mean?" Scrooge. As we were out front after being essentially kicked out, a gal walked in with a little girl - they had "big sister" tote bags (like the big brother/big sister program). One could tell they were so excited (they were literally skipping). They got booted, too. This gal lost easily over $100 of business. Turned away 6 people in 5 minutes. Even if she had a reason, did not have to be rude about it. Won't be back.

I have been to MANY paint your own ceramic studios. This is by far the worst. It is no where near as clean as it should be. The place is a mess, the workers are rude and spend more time on the phone with friends than they do helping you out. And they dont take good care of the peices. I painted some items totaling over 150.00 and when I got them back, some were cracked and chipped almost like the bag had been dropped. I recommend going to The PaintPot in Plymouth, MN. It is so much nicer!!! And the people there are wonderful. More items to choose from, and less costly!!

I've been here three times, so I feel like I've given this place a fair shot, The prices are really high. The paint is not well organized, and the staff seems distracted and spend a lot of time away from the main room. On the positive side, the ceramics are good quality and there is a decent variety of them. I enjoy ceramics but I'm looking for an alternative to Paint Your Plate.

If you are looking for a birthday party spot, this is it. Even if people don't know each other well, the good times will roll. It keeps the conversation going when eveyone is doing art and can comment and help each other out. They have a great party room if you reserve ahead of time, and a great variety of ceramics you can paint. The prices may seem high, but when you take account that's all your paying for and they have a business to run, I think it's fair. I definitely intend to go back!

Pros: Awesome party room, neat selection

Cons: They need more color charts since the glaze isn't the same color as it will be after firing.

I absolutely adore Paint your plate.
The location is lovely, prices are very reasonable and
the music they play is always a joy.
I've made numerous gifts (mugs, plates) for Birthdays and Holidays and
let me tell you, friends and family will LOVE these personalized
treats verses anything store bought.
I highly advise you to try this place out and let your fingers
do the talking!
Anyone and everyone can do this (Age does not matter there!) and
make something truly beautiful and you'll feel amazing
at what you are capable of.
So what are you waiting for?
Go Paint Your Plate already!
Happy Painting!

Pros: Variety of paints-toolscoziness of workspacesweet employees

Cons: My only con is their organization of the paint! I have sometimes had trouble locating certain paint colors as their chart is a bit all over the place. I've always found my paint of course but wish it that's all =]

My daughters, sisters, and girlfriends all have a great time each time we go here. The price you pay is very reasonable when you consider it goes towards the price of paying for the location, the employees, the paints, the paint brushes, the kilns, and all other supplies. This is a great place to make an event out of time spent together, and you walk away with a keepsake with your own creative flare and great memories.

I planned my friend's bridal shower there on a Saturday afternoon. Because we were not paying for the party room, they couldn't take reservations, but they did mark down that 9 women were coming and they had space waiting for us. It was so much fun to choose the items and the paint colors and design. We all enjoyed being creative while catching up and having a good time. We were only there for 2 hours and could have easily taken 3 hours if we had let our inner perfectionists come out to play. It was reasonably priced and the staff were knowledgeable and helpful when picking colors and showing us how to use some of the brushes and stencils. Clean up was a breeze--they did it for us. So go down there with your friends or your kids and paint a plate for about $15 bucks. The memories will be amazing and you can go out for a nice lunch, dinner or dessert after!

Paint your plate is SO fun! Kids love being able to make gifts for others here. It is perfect for grandparents or others that can be hard to buy for. The staff are always helpful and patient. This is perfect to do on a rainy day or when the kids just need to get out! They have a wide selection of items to choose from that you can "recreate". The prices aren't that high either.

This is a place to go for very creative and unique gifts. Anything from dishes to tiles to piggy banks, they can help you break away from the ordinary. Be prepared, it isn't cheap, but it is fun!

The prices are ridiculous. With coffee mugs priced at $18-$25, this isn't the kind of place to make a hobby.
