Called ahead to make reservations and still had to wait for a table. There was an empty table available when we got there and we were told it was for another reservation. We waited and were seated after 45 minutes while other table remained empty. Food was average.

This is a great neighborhood place to grab lunch, dinner or a drink. The bar is comfortable and never extremely packed. Both the bar side and the restaurant have good service and offer the same full menu.

Ever since my wife and I visited San Antonio we have been looking for a local place that had some of the same quality Tex Mex we had there. I am happy to say Lone Spur is one of the closest restaurants we have found that resembles those great spots in Texas. The Brisket is amazing. They incorporate it into many different dishes and the portions are defintley hefty. Also, look out for the daily specials as they are very good as well. The drink specials are a plenty and the service is friendly.

Lone Star has been around for years and their food and service continues to be great. If you like southwestern and mexican, then Lone Star is a place you must go - enchiladas are fabulous.

try the chuckwagon. you wont be dissapointed. order it with the fries! then put lots of their awesome bbq all over it! the thought makes me want to go there right now. if you are in the mood for an enchilada try there suiza enchelada, spinach and smoked chicken. this is my favorite restraunt. and if you have kids its a fun place to play "i spy" there is so much decoration on the walls.

While I agree the Coyote wings are amazing, I don't agree that they claime to have great customer service. I would rather call ahead, pick up my order than have to be weighted on by their staff, especially in the bar area). The staff was quick to make sure their regular customers (those they called by name and sat bellied up to the bar) were taken care of, but didn't seem to care about the rest of the patrons in the establishment. Yes, they attended to their needs, but not as timely or efficiently as they did their regulars. Our wings were served to us at room temperature, so we requested a new batch, not the ones we ordered to be heated up. They brought back the exact order of wings that were obviously just warmed up for a few seconds in the oven or microwave.

Pros: great hot wings

Lets start with the wings. Get the Coyote wing's, it's a Habanero Buffalo sauce that tastes incredible and will light you mouth up. Make sure to order them crispy. The next must have here are the trademarked Moppo wings. Deep fried and lightly battered full chicken wings with a very original and tasty seasoning consisting of secret spices. I'm guess there is some cinnamon or sweet paprika or something in these because they are unlike anything i've ever had. Use the Spur's own wonderful BBQ sauce on the Moppo's. The rest of the app menu is your standard fair, but these happy hour prices can't be beat.

Pros: Great Happy Hour prices and food.

Cons: Why does it have to be soo far West!!!!

I am about forty years old and lived in Austin, Texas almost all of my life until I moved to the Twin Cities about a year ago. Lone Spur Grill reminds me a bit of the old Lone Star Cafe in central Texas -- unpretentious, good food, with accents on Tex-Mex and grill specialties. Their barbecue is quite good; in Austin it would be above average, and here it rates very highly indeed.

My smelly workout group and myself invade the Spur every Wednesday night after a 2 hour workout, and the staff welcome us in with open arms. Service is superior, decor is comfortable, prices are reasonable, and atmosphere is friendly.
I can honestly say that every food item I've tried (and I've pretty much had them all) has been good to great. Some favorites include the chicken fajitas, turkey club sandwich (good luck finishing it!), brisket, and fiesta sampler.
Definitely worth a try if you're looking for a casual sit-down establishment on the west side.

A real find in the middle of a Hopkins/East Tonka strip mall which worried me at first until you see the numerous items on the menu that tell you the owners take their Texas Mex/BBQ cuisine fairly serious! The wings were good, but not exceptional. The XXXBola Chili however was excellent. . .a real bowl of beanless red with chunks of brisket and an incredible slow burn that sneaks up on you by the end. I really recommend it for those that can take the heat and understand what TX chili is all about. Good value for the $ and they accomodate kids well in the family friendly environ. Who could ask for more in the 'burbs?
