I keep getting directed here for delivery (other than pizza) and when I called, they don't deliver.

I wish it was clear when or whether they really do deliver.

The menu looked great. I might try it sometime when I go out.

Don't ever be the last diners at this restaurant, unless you want to be treated disrespectfully.??
I used to love India Palace. Our last dining experience was very strange, because everything has always been good, but don't end up being the last diners left in this restaurant, unless you want the wait staff to turn on you. Going on break is far more important than customer service at India Palace.

We went on a Saturday around 1:30 for the buffet and there was only one other table seated. We were not informed, when we were seated at a dirty table, that the buffet was not only sparsely stocked, but wouldn't be replenished. We were not be offered a menu to order off of in lieu of the buffet and our beverage order was not taken. At this point we should have just left, but we stayed, because we used to love going there. Bad move.

A waiter approached the table and said they were going to close soon and asked us if we wanted our check, it was 2:00 and they close at 2:30. When we went to pay, we asked to speak to a manager and were denied by a very rude waiter that told us the manager would not care. He stood there glaring at us while we paid. I told them the service was awful and asked why they were treating us badly. He said they were closing and we showed up too late. I asked why they let us in and why the door was unlocked and he said, because they were still open. We told them we would not be coming back and the waiter said good, don't come back.

Lesson is: don't show up too late by their standards, because you will be treated disrespectfully. I always thought too late was when the door was locked, but it's when they decide they don't want to uphold any level of proper customer service.

Pros: Pros out weighed by the con

Cons: Awful Service

.

The only Indian restaurant I will go to. Every time I go, I know that I will get the same dish, the same way. The flavors are great and you can choose the amount of spicyness. Great service, too. Food is always quick to come out and never had to wait for a table (they have a lot of seating available).

My son and I tried India Palace for something different and now we crave their food. We have tried other Indian restaurants but this is the best. The Naan is wonderful as is the Palak Paneer and all of the other vegetable dishes and the chicken dishes they offer. The service is top notch always there to clear your table and fill your glasses. Thank you India Palace.

Pros: Best Naan

It's sort of faint praise to say that this seems to be one of the best Indian restaurants in the area, as there really aren't any that are all that great. The buffet is willing to stray a little bit beyond the standards, a fantastic spinach-mushroom dish and a perfectly cooked, juicy tandoori chicken were the highlights. I like things really spicy and none of the dishes were that, but I was very pleased anyway, which is nice. Kind of expensive and in another region it might only merit 3.5 stars, but here it's a cut above the competition.

Pros: Excellently prepared, flavorful food

Cons: Not very adventurous or spicy

.

The food is all good, but if you like it spicy, you will have to ask for Indian Hot plus os so. Might even need some more spice on the side.
We go regularly and find it seldom crowded - except the lobby with a lot of take-out traffic.

So, I don't know what is with the last few harsh reviews but, I thought the food was good and it was also nice to avoid the high prices we usually pay downtown. The service was very friendly, they even gave us a small desert on the house and not because we complained about anything ether (I wouldn't expect this usually but, it was a pleasant surprise). They also have some dishes that we have not found at other Indian restaurants in the area and we were happy to see that because I do eat Indian food often. I will definitely visit there again and would recommend it.

OK, lets be honest-how many of the reviews posted previously really made an accurate assessment. They are full of superlatives like "best" "exceptional" "excellent" which seems too good to be true-how come all the people have same opinion. Or may be its an opinion of one person with different ids, trying hard to promote India Palace.

Now the moment of truth. This is another one of those "boxy" "next to highway" indian place with mediocre food and service. The buffet is small (actually the smallest I have been to) and lines are a mile long during lunch time. Seating is prompt but the waiters are "shy" and have no clue how to serve guests. Taste of food is mediocre to bland at best. If you don't like spicy food, this is a place for you-and chances are, if you don't like spicy food, you won't like Indian food either so there's no need to go this place. Seating for dinner is prompt as well but the al lacarte menu for dinner doesn't makes much difference-bland food continues to pour out of their kitchen.

I am giving them two stars-one is for prompt seating (most of the times) and restaurant is generally clean. However, if you are looking for authentic indian food, move on.

We have been there three times in the past 4 years and have come back disppointmented, each time. We go there thinking that it must be a new/different restaurant and so the ratings are good. However, as we approach the neighborhood, we realize that it is the same one but by then we are so hungry/out of time that we don't feel like going to another. Last time it was their lunch buffet -- one of the smallest we have been to. While the nan was great, the rest of the dishes were below average. Service at the front desk was no better either. We love Indian food and have tried many of the resturants in the twin cities area. In terms food, service, and ambience, this restaurant pales in comparison to some of them.

If you haven't tried Indian food before go to the lunch buffet. It's a lot cheaper than ordering individual plates and you can try everything. That way, if you do decide to come during the night, you know what to order.
If you love Indian food as I do, this is a great place to eat. If you have kids I recommends the Chicken Makani, all kids love that dish. I have a friend who moved to New York a couple of years ago and she claims that no Indian restaurant in New York is as good as the India Place in Roseville, MN. She's probably just smoking something (for you older folks, this is joke) but I know it is the best Indian place in Minnesota.

Truly the best food I've had in a long time. For five years now, I've been stuffing my face every other week or so at one of their wonderful lunch buffets. It is simply the tastiest food you'll ever have. I had not gone there for about a year, and when I came back, the waiters remembered me, I love those guys :-P
Recommendation: Go there for lunch on a weekend sometime for the buffet, you won't be disappointed.

When you first get to this restaurant it may appear shady from the outside. Don't let its appearance mislead you. From the moment you come in you are treated like family. The appetizers do look inexpensive, but it turns out to be expensive. One appetizer normally is enough for one person, but is pricey and bland. The Indian specialty naan bread was a little bit burnt and had little to no flavor. The best part of the menu are the entrees. A wide variety of authentic Indian entrees are available. I personally loved the "chicken josh". This dish has great yogurt based curry with the perfect spice at the end. My friends had other dishes which they were also pleased with. I recommend this restaurant for anyone who is looking for a Indian restaurant with great customer service and food. For first-timers don't be intimidated by the outside, the overall quality of the food is great.

India Palace is the restaurant where you get royal service. The food is very spicy much delightful to me because i love spicy foods though it doesnt suit many people. But if you mention less spicy when you order you will get much to your liking. I love the tandoori chicken very much. The price is also not in the upper range. Everyone who like indian food should check once. You sure can expect a royal treatment of both food and customer service.

The first time I came here, I was delighted to see that it was voted the Twin Cities' Best (note display in entryway), but the service was very good - attentive, polite. And they use real linens, folks. The first time I had the Chicken Shahi Korma - chicken in a yogurt sauce with golden raisins, goat cheese, cashews - I just about wet my pants. I returned the next three days and ordered the same dish. Khir is a wonderful, light dessert as well, and always have some onion Naan! My husband enjoys the Chicken Josh, but all of their Tandoori dishes are exuisite, and the meats are always moist. Great value for any special occasion - a real treaure in an unassuming package.

This was an exciting introduction to Indian food. The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere and an excellent menu. For the novice, I would suggest ordering the mild sauces, as the medium seemed quite hot in spiciness/heat to me.

PROS: Nice Atmosphere, Good food!
CONS: Mild Food seemed Extra Spicy to Wimpy Spice Girl!

This is a great place for Indian food and just dining out overall. I HIGHLY recommend it! As another reviewer said, do not be swayed by the poor location/building...it really is a great place! Wonderful service, EXCELLENT food, and just what the DR. ordered when one is craving some good food. YUM. :)

We go to India palace every weekend. The service is excellent and friendly. The people are very nice to you. The food is outstanding. Onion Bhajias (appetizers) are excellent. Dal Makhani, and Chicken Josh are our favourites entrees, and for dessert you gotta have their Gulab Jamuns. They are the best I have had. They match up with the ones my Grandma makes.
We have been to many Indian Res. in the US and abroad - we have been to a few in San Fran., Hollywood, LA, boston etc and the best tasting food and value is by far at India Palace.
Infact the the supposed best Indian Res. in hollywood that the stars rave about was about the most dissapointing place we have every been to.

Courteous, prompt wait staff. Food that never disappoints. And, prices that are quite reasonable. My friend and I go here regularly for a "fix" of a couple dishes that we CRAVE and just can't find anywhere else or replicate at home. Nice ambience, but not a stuffy atmosphere for having a rather "formal" nature to it. White linens on the table; formal serving dishes. The building's exterior is truly deceptive!

Was going for dinner with some friends who had never tasted Indian food but were curious about it. We lost our way enroute and I wondered if a restaurant so difficult to find would be popular, but surprise surprise! It was a weekday night and the place was packed!

My friends loved the food and I think the mint chutney they serve with appetizers is divine! Definitely a must-go place!
