I've been visiting the Smile Center for the last year and a half with my three children. For me, the Center is perfectly fine -- you don't have to wait for hours to get in, the staff is friendly, are very good at explaining things, and listen very well (I almost always have to have a double dose of novocaine when I get work done, and they made sure to stop working immediately to give me more) I had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled on the same day, and they were kind throughout the entire experience. The only complaint I have, though, is with my son. He has a badly infected molar, and when I scheduled an emergency appointment, they said there was nothing they could do, and referred me to a specialist. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, except the specialist (and every other in the area that I called) didn't accept my insurance. A week later, my son is still in excruciating pain, and when I call them to try and get something done for the poor kid, I get nowhere. I have since found a pediatric dentist for my son, and all is well. Overall, I would say the Smile Center is ok for adults, but for needs beyond bi-annual cleaning for children, look elsewhere.

I brought my client there to get their teeth cleaned. They had not had this done in 2 years due to hospitalizations. We were right on time and checked in. The secretary said we were supposed to be 10minutes early for paperwork and that they left a message the night before. They made us wait an hour because they said we were 10 minutes late. My client was on oxygen and had a trache. When I walked up to the desk after an hour they thought it would be another half hour. Another hour later I went up and said we were leaving. Then they said a hygenist would be ready for us...we went back and the hygenist said that no dentist had time to clean my clients teeth..She said she apologized for our wait of two hours..the dentist that was supposed to work on my client was sick and not in that day which was why we had to wait. Not because we were supposedly 10 minutes late..A dentist then came to do a check looked in her mouth and said no tooth decay and said she could fit us in an hour...My client needed suctioning and we needed to go...This was awful..I could of looked in her mouth instead and say she was fine. The dentist was rude and told us to come back when she was not sick.

Pros: nothing

Cons: no privacy, rude dentist, scheduling team rude as well

I started going to The Smile Center in Big Lake a few years ago when I did not have dental insurance and it was an emergency. That summer my whole mouth started to act up with gum disease and bone infections, a dentist should know that this is one sign of diebetes and yet they continued to pull teeth and gave a hint as to why my mouth continued to not heal and have problems.

It was clear from day one that this dental office is one of the few that accepts all kinds of medical assistance and state paid dental insurance programs as well as others that do not have insurance. There is nothing wrong with that in any way, but over time it became clear that this is a operation that moves these people in and out and uses them to milk the state programs with perhaps not their well-being in mind, for instance I am sure there are a lot of dentures and partials( which they make there on site) and teeth extractions going on when perhaps if the patient had better insurance or if they were well shod, there would be other alternatives. Its very sick and sad.

If you have to have a lot of teeth pulled as with dentures, they do NOT send you to an oral surgeon, but instead only deaden with novocaine and gas if you INSIST on gas and pull them all there! I have never heard of this before.

Most of the examination rooms do not have walls and most of them you have a clear view of the patient in the next seat getting work. They actually pulled one of my teeth while a young girl around age 8 sat in the next chair and watched in horror as it was a hard tooth to get out.

Most of the dentists are from the middle east, which again, is not a bad thing in itself, but they have no credentials such as dental college accreditation from a certified college or dental school that I could recognize here in the States.

They operate on the bare minimum of equipment and god forbid if you want a refill for pain killers, some dentists there flatly refuse to refill and tell you to take over the counter medications while waiting for the appointment to extract it due to time constraints on the patients part, I was refused on two separate occasions for a second refill or just a few more when the pain was excruciating. You will call in and get a call back after hours being told the dentist flat out refuses to give more and to get some over the counter pain medication, with no explanation. It was painful and humiliating. I wonder how they would feel if it was them in the pain, hmmm as well as the fact that no known history of abusing , just a normal pain threshold almost forcing you to make the decision to have the tooth extracted rather than look into having it saved some other way.

They are quick to suggest extracting teeth as the first solution to the problem and I have known one patient that got a set of dentures that to this day are still painful to wear because they were not fit right as well as a few others that got great amount of teeth extracted only to be told by another dentist that it was unnecessary.

I feel sorry for the patients that have to go to this clinic because its the only choice for medical assistance cases in the area .

Intend to make complaints to upper management, the American Dental Association, and a local news station on possible scams, discriminating care of those less privileged on assistance while taking tax payers money and not giving quality choices of care plans and instead extracting teeth to make room for dentures or just no teeth at all, etc.

Do not believe the good reviews on here, think they were set up, or the patient was very lucky or are not wise to the game.

There are other places , please use them.

I have been to the Smile Center many times. It started with an emergency need that my regular dentist could not be reached for. My experience there was so good that I decided I would go to the smile center for all my dental needs. I was treated better than my regular dentist and also better than dentists I had seen in the past.
Just becasue the dentists are foreign and the facility is larger than a usual dentist does not make it bad, nor did I feel like "a heard of cattle" as a matter of fact, I felt more important than most places.

Have you ever wanted to know how it feels to be herded like cattle? Then make sure that you make The Smile Center your dentists of choice. While the nurses all are friendly, the dentist seems to care less whether or not you are uncomfortable or not. Instead of individual rooms, there are only partitions. You can actually see (and hear) as dentists work with other patients! They claim to make you feel calm and relaxed during your visit, but it is anything but that. While the wait to get to the back "processing plant" was relatively short, it was standing room only in the waiting room. I am not someone who has EVER been afraid of dentists, but this place would scare almost anyone!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! Drive 100 miles if you must, but find a dentist that has some bedside manner instead of worried he might not fit another 25 patients in, in the next hour!!!

I went to the Smile Center for 4 fillings. They did all 4 the same night, which I was told afterwards that it not recommended because my ENTIRE mouth was numb. When I was paying at the desk the woman behind the counter pointed out that I had white stuff on my face, so I tried wiping it off. I woke up the next morning with burns on my face and swelling. I went to the doctor that afternoon and he confirmed it was a burn (from the cement-based filling material). So that evening I returned to the Smile Center and asked what was on my face. The assistant played stupid, like she hadn't seen it and had no idea what it was from. The dentist said to put ointment on it and it should go away. I did put ointment on it, but now that it has healed over, I have a permanent scar on my face.

I went to the Smile Center on an emergency basis, my regular dentist was booked. There was no privacy, you could hear everyones' apppointments, as there is a row of chairs with no barriers. They took an x-ray and then the dentist came over to look at my tooth. He declaired after about 10 seconds "have to pull it." There was no explaination as to why, he didn't tell me what was wrong with my tooth or if I had any other options. I told him I couldn't do it right then, as it frightens me greatly and would need to go somewhere where I could be sedated. At that point he walked of without another word, no discussion of what was wrong or what I could do for the pain. The hygienist offered me a copy of my xray and that was all. Waste of time and no "bedside manner." It would have been nice to have been treated more like a person and less like a number.

Pros: weekend and evening ability, same day emergency visits

Cons: the dentists are rude, no bedside manner, and don't seem to care about patients

All of there patients are on medical assistance and trust me they let you feel like you cant afford anything. They give you the bottom of the barrel service. I have been there several times and that is just to get a referral somewhere else. One time they tried to pull a infected tooth and I was screaming for her to stop and she wouldn't, so my boyfriend (who was luckily in the room with me) had to grab her hand to stop her. THEY DON'T CARE IF YOU ARE IN PAIN, THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY!! I know other people who have gone there to get a tooth pulled and they broke her jaw. And another guy who had a tooth pulled and they left a large piece of the tooth in there and his face swelled up like a basketball and he had to have numerous surgeries to correct the problem. I would save your money for a actual dental facility.

As previously read about wisdom teeth. I had all 4 of my wisdoms removed. They had me sign a consent form that listed any possibilities. So how she could have teeth removed and not know it is beyond me. I had a wonderful expierence. Thank you Dr.

I would not ever go back to this place. I made an appt to get one of my wisdom teeth looked at. I arrived and not knowing that they planned to pull it. The Dr. did not explain the procedure or what risks having a wisdom tooth pulled had. He should have Reffered me to a specilast but instead Numbed me up left the room for 5 minutes, came back and pulled the tooth. I was sent home and told to take advil. The Specilist I followed up with said that this was a cruel thing to do and I should have been put under. I would never go back to The Smile Center

I have 7 children and the Smile Center put all 7 of them on the schedule for the same day. My two teenages in the morning in case they had to work in the afternoon and the younger 5 in the afternoon. Great service, I was done and out within 1 1/2 hours of arriving. This included Xrays, doctor exam and a cleaning for all of them. I will be continuing there every 6 months.

I went to this dentist for a emergency i was having with one of my teeth. They had to remove a tooth. I really dislike dentist and don't go as i should because of what has happend in the past at other dentist i have been to. But i knew when i got there right away that this was going to be different this time. The staff there was so friendly. They explained every thing to me before they did anything. The dentist him self was very gental when removing the tooth and keep asking it i had any pain at all. If i said yes he would stop and give me something to stop the pain. I have never had an experaince as good as i have had at this dentist before. They offer every kind of dentistry there. I know do not fear going to the dentist any longer thanks to this dentist. I will come back here always and they also offer children dentist. SO my children will go there now to. The office was very clean. It didn't have that normal dentist office smell to it. It's right on a main highway. so its very easy to find. They are open 7 days a week. With evening appointment nightly.

PROS: Offer all dentist services, open 7 days a week, open evenings.
