Overall, I found Emerald Park to be a nice place for me and my family to live until it wasnt. The staff at the desk was friendly, maintenance is reasonably responsive, the grounds are maintained and cleaned, and the pool is nice.

The primary problem is that the apartment became unlivable for us. It is impossible to block odors from entering the apartment. The fact that our master bath frequently smelled like fish wasnt that big of a deal. When a heavy smoker moved adjacent it became unlivable due to asthma. It was terrible and management could do nothing about it. We knew the building was smoking, so we figured worst case wed deal with smoke in the hallways and/or outside. We never thought it would inundate our apartment to the extent it did. The smell of tobacco would have been annoying; but it became unbreathable for an asthmatic and management couldnt do anything about it. We personally purchased HEPA air filters and covered vents with plastic which didnt get rid of the problem. We ended up being forced to move (and pay two rents for several months) due to this issue.

A secondary annoying issue is for the parking spot for Apt 116, which is right next to the garbage. We got one flat about 3 months after we moved in and after that frequently picked up screws and other sharp objects from the floor to prevent another flat. Management never did anything except take our complaints.

When we first moved in here, it was our first apartment and we were more than excited! We brought our 2 cats with us, at first the management were very cool people and really relaxed, the cat deposit was 200$ for both cats. 4 months in there was a management change, and they did room inspections ALL THE TIME ( mostly when your not home) As seeing we have 2 cats, they wanted 300$ for the 2nd cat, because their policy changed when management changed. They had always known we had 2 cats because they are both on file. We are only here for 30 more days and they want 300$ or they threatened to keep all our deposits and evict us ( were only here 30 more days!) My suggestion is that if it was that important to you, you would of given me a 90 day notice of payment after management change if it was that important to you. They come into your apartment with false reasons to check it ( leaks, fires, ext- it gets annoying and i feel like everyone in the office is now a roommate because they are here so often.) They maintenance men threaten you, or say inappropriate things. ( im 18 years old- its disturbing) I have had issues with their employees ( obviously their maintence men) I have had my laundry stolen 4 or 5 times, and they never wanted to help look at cammeras to find who did it. Its turned into section 8 so its lost some class, nothing against section 8, but it doesnt help make things homely. They deliver their personal letters under your door so anyone can pick them up and see all your personal information. THANKS to emerald park, we bought a house. pheww. Hope this could help!

Pros: Nice doors.

Cons: Management is very beyond poor.

We were very excited to move and more excited to move out. They updated the apts, but did not update the floors & walls. We could hear everything our neighbors were doing, and I'm sure they could hear us as well. This is something you don't think of checking on when you go in to look at an apt.

The staff is not not user friendly at all.
They will not go out of their way to help with making anything easier.

I will not go back and would not recommend renting from Emerald Park.
